Interactive Painting Contest #6: The FINALE!

in #art7 years ago (edited)

Yesterday, I posted a recap of my 5 previous Interactive Painting Contests in which I present an original painting of mine, along with some story, where you (yes, you) can fill in the blanks to makes a complete original story to accompany it.

I was undecided whether to continue this format, but I have decided to make this the final episode of Mystery Man's epic and particularly weird adventure. So, this is the finale, make it a memorable one!

As usual, the SBD of this post will be divided among the valid entries, in a way which I see fit - but everybody will get a piece of the pie, so join in!

If you want to re-read everything: check out

  1. Mystery Man
  2. And then There Were Two
  3. Niflheim
  4. Green Fellow
  5. The Beings

And the complete recap of the story

So, the previous painting saw The Beings emerge:

And this is the story:

"Okay", Mystery Man reluctantly agreed: "I will do you a favor. But first tell me where I can find my brother."
The Green Entity chuckled and said: "Good luck, Mystery Man: your Brother is being held in a tower which is neither in this world nor the next, and is both tangible and intangible until the silver blood moon strikes upon it."
"Okay, and how do I get there?" Mystery Man asked.
"That is not for us to tell, we would only tell you where your brother is. Now it is time for you to return the favor."
A horde of creatures appeared on the horizon. All looking eagerly in anticipation. Saliva drooling from their little, thin mouths. "We now shall have your fondest memory from the time of your childhood, which hides in the deepest recesses of your soul, Mystery Man. Hand it over, per our agreement."
"You tricked me!" Mystery Man shouted. The entities approached silently and, undisturbed, they drew ever closer. In the corner of his eye, Mystery Man suddenly saw, to his rescue: the Guardian of the lake.

Three valid entries - by @ravenruis, @deemarshall and @occupywallets were mashed to make this story - and I'm splitting the 1.46 SBD in three equal parts (@ravenruis providing 2 entries, @deemarshall 1 and matching my intended "to his rescue: the Guardian of the Lake", and @occupywallets for just writing a hilarious story - thank you all for participating!

So, here comes the finale. We have Mystery Man, still looking for his brother, surrounded by Beings but to the rescue comes The Guardian of the Lake.

Here she is:

Make a comment with the blanks filled in and create a story of your own and win some SBD!

Everybody who was present - Mystery Man, The Green Rhas Al Ghore and His Beings ____ (what did they do?)
The Guardian of the Lake did not flinch and spoke - quietly, but with great authority: "____" (what did she say?)
"I can live with that, your Ladyship, thank you," Mystery Man answered, kneeling before her.
"Never!" Rhas Al Ghore shouted, while drawing his magical staff, summoning ____ (what did he summon?)
The Guardian of the Lake ____ (what did she do?)
All went quiet.
Mystery Man ____ (what did he do?)

(Eh, every story needs an epilogue, or maybe even a sequel. Let's see your entries, allright?)
(Big props to @occupywallets, you got me putting Rhas Al Ghore in there!)

Sort:

What a day to be hurling through 2018... Was so feeling yuk yuk that even coconut water did me wrong... Will write my version ASAP!

Okay, my attempt at universe-building amid my deconstructive tendencies...

At a preconceived moment, Mystery Man #2, The Green Rhas Al Ghore and His Beings all paused and held hands, in a reenactment of the archaic ring-around-the-ritual... It wasn't peace in the realm, simply a customary distraction... Reverence to tradition was what kept reality from freezing over, like so many Lakes from legend...

The Guardian of the Lake did not flinch, and spoke quietly, but with great authority: "You can all see how I do not flinch! I, may, put, commas, everywhere, but to witness me flinching is to be submerged in the waters, and merge with me... You really wanna watch me flinch? Do you?!?"

"I can live with that, your Ladyship, thank you," Mystery Man #2 answered, kneeling before her. She made a dramatic pause, as if about to flinch...

"Never!" Rhas Al Ghore shouted, while drawing his magical staff... He summoned the brother to offer as a last-ditch trade, knowing his bubblegum factory's production would plummet without its manager... The brothers embraced and were too distracted to be caught up in what ensued...

The Guardian of the Lake flinched...
All went quiet... Even the cricket phones stopped chirping...
Mystery Man grabbed his doppelganger's hand and dove into the lake... Rhas Al Ghore had already sub-merged with The Guardian, who stopped flinching and went back to crocheting the lawn...

The End

Hahahaha, awesome and hilarious, I should paint more funny paintings to let you shine :D
Thanks for participating again, there will be an epilogue!

LOL, always a pleasure...

Haha this is mint! You might have found something legit there @occupywallets with your ring-around-the-ritual (whether its S&M or a kids game I'm not too sure...

LOL!! I hadn't thought of that implication!

Everybody who was present - Mystery Man, The Green Rhas Al Ghore and His Beings froze momentarily as the giant guarding goose of the lake approached them with her waddling feet
The Guardian of the Lake did not flinch and spoke - quietly, but with great authority: "Hwonk! Hwonk!"
"I can live with that, your Ladyship, thank you," Mystery Man answered, kneeling before her.
"Never!" Rhas Al Ghore shouted, while drawing his magical staff, summoning the book of universal translations. "How dare they converse in Honk, the lost language of the lake which cannot be processed with binary intelligence?!" he continued rambling as he frantically flipped through the million possible translations of "Hwonk!"
The Guardian of the Lake flapped her wings with great might, stirring up the mist surrounding them, creating turbulences beyond space, through time, and into the very fabric of reality itself.
All went quiet.
Mystery Man suddenly felt a deep vibration emerging, growing stronger, dissonant yet harmonic, taking hold of his auditory senses. Now he could hear it, too. The voice of Morgan Freeman, narrating this every moment as it passed, speaking those very words you read right now...

...and then it spoke:

THe eND

This is getting absurd and surreal, even by your standards - awesome! :D

And thanks for a bit of explaining, I see where you're coming from with nr. 2... Good stuff, thanks man!

and about number three - enjoy:

Hahaha, didn't know that one, I'm still laughing :D

And remembering I once saw Morgan Freeman Morgan Freeman at the Ghent filmfest (must be about 15 years ago I admit), there was like 6 or 7 people giving him an applause, it was kinda weird and sorry for him :/

Yeah... i know it's weird... I can only guess where that all came from:

a. the painting looks like a goose to me
b. I just had a lot of fun trying to translate foreign languages
c. Morgan Freeman, Morgen Freeman, Morgan Freeman

Thanks for the writing challenge @marty-art! Those are awesome paintings!! (and are you french?)

Everybody who was present - Mystery Man, The Green Rhas Al Ghore and His Beings with steel drawn and staves at the ready, gripping death in their hands.
The Guardian of the Lake did not flinch and spoke - quietly, but with great authority: "The Order of the Silver Blood Moon hath forbidden the crossing of worlds, lest you risk disturbing the balance of the ten planes and thirteen hells. Your quest ends here man of mystery, but I shall grant you safe return to your abode."
"I can live with that, your Ladyship, thank you," Mystery Man answered, kneeling before her.
"Never!" Rhas Al Ghore shouted, while drawing his magical staff, summoning the powers of the chromatic planes.
The Guardian of the Lake revealed her power. Without moving, a blinding flash of light cleared the air of all blood and magic.
All went quiet.
Mystery Man could feel that the Silver Blood Moon had just been invoked. Fearful for his life he retreated, thanking the Guardian of the Lake as he left. But he knew he would have to see her again and compel her to free his brother...

THe eND (?)

Congratulations! Your Silver Blood Moon experience points have been increased by +3

You have taken zero damage!

Haha I'll power up my XP to get a weapons damage bonus

Thanks! Glad you like the paintings! I'm Belgian (Dutch speaking - mais je connais un petit-peut de Français!)

Thanks for the entry, and for providing a cliffhanger, I guess there will be an epilogue! :)

Best frietjes and mayo in the world! ;) Can't wait for the epilogue, this is reminding me of my D&D days haha

Hehe, yep! Guess my (A)D&D is shimmering through somewhere in there as well.

Haha of course, only AD&D, got no time for amateurs games... ;)

Everybody who was present - Mystery Man, The Green Rhas Al Ghore and His Beings threw their heads back and their arms upwards in anticipation.
The Guardian of the Lake did not flinch and spoke - quietly, but with great authority: "I will ensure your brother is safe!"
"I can live with that, your Ladyship, thank you," Mystery Man answered, kneeling before her.
"Never!" Rhas Al Ghore shouted, while drawing his magical staff, summoning the silver blood moon.
The Guardian of the Lake smothered the moon and Rhas Al Ghore with icy, vein chilling liquid.
All went quiet.
Mystery Man fell to his knees with relief and respect for the Guardian so fair!

Great fun! Thank you @marty-art for this game.

Thank you for participating! Yes, it's great fun, so there will be -at least- an epilogue :)

Thank you for the payment. Very nice surprise!

Happy to do so, thanks for joining in! :)

This was my interpretation of the previous episode:

"Okay", Mystery Man reluctantly agreed: "I will do you a favor. But first tell me where I can find my brother."
The Green Entity chuckled and said: "Good luck, Mystery Man: your Brother is lost beyond Time and Space in the immaterial castle of Zingalamaduni."
"Okay, and how do I get there?" Mystery Man asked.
"That is not for us to tell, we would only tell you where your brother is. Now it is time to return your favor."
A horde of creatures appeared on the horizon. All looking eagerly in anticipation. Saliva drooling from their little, thin mouths. "We now shall have your liquorice stick, Mystery Man. Hand it over, per our agreement."
"You tricked me!" Mystery Man shouted. The entities approached silently and, undisturbed, they drew ever closer. In the corner of his eye, Mystery Man suddenly saw, to his rescue: the Guardian of the Lake.

Like I mentioned, extra points for @deemarshall for having the Guradian of the Lake - just like I did!
Not that it is a prerequisite - to guess what I wrote, but it was the first match, and very fun to discover!
