she is remembered ...

“And so it is, in the bed where one lures his appetite, one also perishes. All love and feeling irrevocably lead to decay and death. Maybe you already suspected it: Verhaar isn't the poet to leave us any illusion. On the contrary, he must be thinking, with so much predominant sentiment there is no harm in displaying the stony truths of matter.”

... In church stone touches her.
Not the type of stone
with which the building was erected.

Not the stone of the sculptures
or that of the ground
on which she treads.

Over bulges slides her tongue.
And in every niche
a small finger disappears.

Stone - a Japanese poet once wrote-
wants to live, and die slowly.
And be with her.
