New Painting in Progress

in #art6 years ago

Dear Steemians,

I am working on a new painting!

While I am not ready to show the overall painting just yet, I do want to share a few sneak peeks from my current piece in progress. Hopefully it will jolt your curiosity, and it may even provide some additional insights into the finished work...

How, you ask?

Well, sometimes, certain elements change while the artwork is still developing, some elements that are visible now may get partially covered up or completely disappear. For many people that doesn't matter at all, and I can't really blame them, but I know there are some among you who love to get into the details of things.... so you may have fun with this piece by piece revelation.

So here are the first few details from my current painting in progress...

That's all for now!
I'd love to hear your thoughts or comments, if you have any!

Oh! It's like the first ultrasound of an unborn baby (but for a painting) 😊
And I like these blue shades...

Oooh, I love that comparison!

It especially applies to the fact that it doesn't yet look like much, except to the parents (painter)... To them it's mostly already wonderful and magical, even though it clearly has a long way to go until it's ready.

Awesome analogy, a baby ultrasound potential version of a painting. At what point does an ultrasound painting become a painting? I see it as a painting already. I'm also a perfection when I do art, when I draw, and I struggle to ever finish art or when I write like right now haha, or in videos I make, like George Lucas doing the Star Wars films again and again, like getting born again through being updated, digitally remastered.

This needs some deeper thinking, because the painting can be a painting even when it is not finished and it can keep being
"updated" until it reaches the final, perfect stage...

Awesome, Ruth, agreed.

That's teasing! :) Now I want to know how the painting goes on!

Well you will! :)

It's great to see some activity from you finally!!

I like that ethereal/translucent effect you managed to get. From what can be seen, it's already a nice piece at this stage.

It has long ways to go, but I appreciate the encouragement. Thank you @berien!

Interesting to see the start of a process.
Seldom am I brave enough to show works in progress. Why is that? Because more often than not, I totally screw it up, then it sits in a pile of unfinished stuff. If I don't screw it up, then I do have progress shots saved that I can present with the finished piece. Working on a piece right now, where maybe I could publish the very detailed charcoal under(drawing)painting, which I subsequently screwed up with the first layer of paint. But I am doggedly still working on it. The drawing does not exist in original anymore, of course, but I got a good photo of it, so I could publish and make prints.
Bottom line: I am never confident that it will work out in the end. But that has to do with my process also: I am constantly experimenting - like a little kid with a chemistry set. The difference is, experimenting with painting, you at least don't risk blowing up your house!

Awesome! Looking forward to seeing where you go with this! By the way, I featured you in my latest post: https://steemit.com/art/@beinart/inspiring-artists-on-steemit

Love your work!

Really great painting...the blue shade is someone which we miss a long time from a country beside the sea because of the color blue. And historical building behind the blue shade gives us a thought about the place is an oriental country...Or it makes me think so...

Meanwhile details are great in the painting and transition of colors is very nice.

Thank you for sharing and have a nice day...

I was hoping to see the coffee painting.. ;-)
But this look good to already too !
Have fun with it !

Ah, it's not so great, that coffee painting I did, that's why I didn't post it, but here you go:

I used coffee and a black marker.

oh how cool .. thanks a lot Sabina ! :-)

Thank you, that's sweet of you.
The old me would have just thrown that away, which is what I have done with probably hundreds of my drawings and paintings.

Now I can take a photo of it and put it online!
Anyway, thanks. :)

So fine! I love your start :-D

Thank you Caroline! :)

Good works @anibas. Keep it up!

Much welcome friend.

Love the textures you've created in these shots @anibas, can't wait to see the finished piece. Upvoted and following :)

I guess that follow didn't work out, but maybe it's the thought that counts.
Thanks @adamfryda-art

Doh! thanks for letting me know - following now i hope :)

Yes, it worked out this time! :)
