Plaza de España in Sevilla, Spain

Plaza de España is one of Sevilla's architectural gems. It was built with a huge investment by the Spanish government and the city of Sevilla to represent Spain in the 1929 world fair, but since the world economic crisis hit the same year, the number of visitors was way below the expectations and Sevilla struggled with its debts. Luckily, the beautiful buildings are still standing today and finally attract the number of tourists that the organisers of the 1929 world fair had hoped for!
