Unsung Heroes of ANZAC Day : Silver STEEM Round Recipient
It’s the day after ANZAC Day and I am exhausted. It’s always an emotional day and on top of that I’ve spent a couple of hours last night and most of this morning reading all the awesome posts that people have put up to recognise and honour our ANZACs. It really does make me very proud to see so many getting involved and sharing so freely about something so close to my heart. I can see that I am definitely not alone!

Initially I wasn’t sure if the ANZAC Project idea put forward by @ravenruis would take hold, so I offered up a Silver STEEM Round from 2017 as a bit of an incentive for people to participate. After reading peoples posts I don’t even think it entered into most peoples thoughts because people were expressing themselves in all sorts of different ways, but I still want to give this STEEM Round away because there were a few contributions that really hit home for me.

My first honourable mention has to go to @choogirl who wrote a tribute about Eileen King, a brave nurse from WWI. It is actually a great story about two sisters who were doing their own great work helping our wounded but also being there for each other when they needed. It has a bit of a tragic end but I really found the story of these nurses inspiring. When I first read it I thought I had found a worthy recipient for the STEEM Round.

Then I started reading some of the posts by @ravenruis and her contribution to this project was simply outstanding. She made an amazing 13 posts about the ANZACs and there are some really great stories in there she has done an amazing job in honouring so many. It must have taken weeks for her to pull it all together. My favourite was most definitely the post about The Gray Boys who all served admirably and it felt like there was a bit of larrikin in the youngest of them. It took me a while to get through all those posts and on the sheer volume of her contribution she would have been a very worthy recipient too.

But when I read the post of @kiwideb about her paternal grandfather Sidney James Gully I was just totally blown away. I was reading those letters and I just didn’t want her post to end. He served in both the World Wars and his letters were just an amazing insight into his experience. I am so grateful to @kiwideb for sharing this amazing story with us all. I was faced with such a tough decision before I read this post but it has turned out to be a very easy decision for me to decide where this STEEM Round needs to go.

So congratulations @kiwideb I’ll be in touch soon, and thank you again to everyone who got involved in the ANZAC Project and shared stories. I can see the spirit of the ANZACs is still so very strong and it lives on through us all. May the memory of their sacrifice forever be with us.

It was very interesting to spend my first Anzac day in Australia. I need to go buy a book to read up on it as I was inspired to learn more yesterday. We don't have anything similar in South Africa.

Welcome to Australia! These days it's hard to go past the internet for information. Maybe more than you'll find in any book.
For buying Gold and Silver in Sydney it depends on what you're after. I do like KJC Bullion for semi-numismatic coins and have been to Jaggards a couple times though they are probably more focused on numismatics. Maybe Goldtrex if you want to try your luck in finding a bargain. I think I saw my first Krugerrrand there. Otherwise ABC Bullion is pretty big and had the best security of them all.

Oh, wow, thanks so much @buggedout. I'm honoured you chose my post. You're right, I never even noticed there was a prize, so that's a lovely surprise. Hats off to @ravenruis and @choogirl and everybody else who contributed, and made the project so memorable.
I'm kind of glad it was a surprise because I never wanted it to be a competitive thing and I am very happy it wasn't. There were some really great contributions from a lot of people. We could not have asked for more :)
