Cute Baby Bunnies Born This Morning!

We purchased Lucky and Bun Bun together a few weeks ago. We knew that Bun Bun was pregnant so as any responsible pet owner would do, we prepared for the babies as well. Male rabbits should be kept away from the babies because they have a tendency to become territorial. My husband @terminallyill built an incredible two story home for mom and her babies. On the bottom of their home, they have a nice and warm enclosure in the back with a door that we can open and close. In the front of the cage there are two ramps that the rabbits can hop up and head upstairs. Lucky has a little smaller cage since he is alone but he still has plenty of room and fun activities all around his cage that rabbits love to engage in.

Even though we knew Bun Bun was pregnant, we didn't know when she got pregnant so there was no real way to track when the babies would make their grand appearance. It was definitely a surprise this morning when my three year old goes to check her rabbits and comes running to me screaming, "Oh my goodness, mom look! There are little baby mice in the rabbit cage. How cute!" Of course I knew that there were not little baby mice inside the cage but instead baby bunnies! I was so excited and went running to see these "little baby mice."

Did you notice how the babies are sleeping as if they are still in the womb?

I think it is absolutely the sweetest thing in the world to see these little babies wrapped up with each other, just like they were in the womb. It looks like out of 4 babies, Lucky will have one that looks like him with the spots. The other three will be a surprise to see exactly what color they turn out to be. It is too early to tell right now but they do seem to be one solid darker color. This is the first time we have even seen baby bunnies this young so this is going to such an exciting journey for us!
