I was up at a camp in the mountains east of San Diego and I saw a bird with a bright red spot on its wing when it flew. I asked my friend what it was and he said, "It's a red-wing blackbird." I thought he was giving me a bunch of BS - cuz, you know, it's never that easy. But alas, it was. It's one of my favorites. Sometimes, driving up the 5, you can see a male about every fifth fence post. They just get cranky at certain times of the year - not vey sociable. I hope you're doing alright. Good Luck! :-))
