Travelog 09 | Japan Series: Fun Owl Night Long!♥

DSC04906.jpg

Too cute!
The owls are too cute and the owl zoo concept is a rather interesting concept located in the busy Nishiki shopping district.

Japan is also famous for its many different types of animal establishments. Owl, dog, cat, rabbit, snake, and lots more!

It was on the 1st night of our 1st ever trip to Japan and we were wandering around the streets at Shijo Dori, Kyoto. Nishiki Shopping District was a good stop to experience and see the locals scampering around from store to store and queuing for the popular restaurants. It was a nice contrast to normal the laid-back lifestyle of Kyoto.

Never would we have thought of seeing an Owl Forest Zoo amidst everything. (It is not an Owl Cafe.) For an entrance fee of ¥600 per adult, you get to see lined up owls, resting and awake. There is no free drink that usually comes at animal cafes since it declares itself as a zoo, albeit a small, cozy one.

The shop or in this case, zookeeper gives us a proper briefing before entering on how to treat them and how to avoid getting nipped.

It's interesting to see the owls and beside them are descriptions of each breed. There are the large majestic ones, the tiny ones almost as small as our fists, and the grumpy ones with piercing eyes!

It was like magic when I saw them, somehow I know this is the doing of my being a Harry Potter fan! Tee hee!

Who would not love Hedwig?? Such white fluffy feathers like a big ball of cotton! And within the zoo is the exact same breed. I was so ecstatic to see it in person and also lucky that it is awake to see it moving around!♥

On a different note, although it was a fun experience, I know for a fact that these types of establishments are offensive to the animal rights activists. I am not an activist, but it doesn't mean that I don't have the heart to care how they are being treated. And I often wonder: how are they behind closed doors? Do the zookeepers actually let them fly around when the place is closed?
Well, I hope they do. Such magnificent creatures don't need to be kept in a cage.

Had no idea an Owl Zoo existed! Love the expression of the owl on the first photo :)

They all look gorgeous!♥

Very cool. The owl looks almost unreal in the first picture. They are all busy pictures, which makes them all highly interesting visually.

Thanks so mcuh!☺
