Peacock Garden

These photos were taken last summer when my sister and my nephew came over to visit me. It was a peaceful warm early summer day, I took them for a relaxing outing to a famous garden where we can meet some wild animals. As soon as we arrived, this gorgeous peacock appeared out of nowhere right in front of us.

While we were still stunned by its suddenness and its beauty, they kept on coming, one peacock after another, they were just roaming freely around the garden. We saw at least 7 or 8 of them walking past us as if they didn't even notice our presence. I was impressed with its beautiful colour contrast more than anything.

This guy showed me his theatrical plumage whilst stood just 10cm away from me, giving me a chance to take a few good pictures. He kept his calm, then elegantly walked off.

The highlight was when one of the peacocks spread his feathers fully, showing off and dancing a little to attract a female peafowl. It was my first time to see it in this top form. Later I read that they only open their feathers in the breeding season (spring to early summer), so we went there at exactly the right timing.

My 5-year-old nephew absolutely loved the experience. He was determined to find a dropped feather of peacock, so he (and also we..) had to look around the entire garden for the entire afternoon (until we found a gift shop selling imitation feathers for 3 euros).

A few days later, my sister sent me this photo of my nephew with his drawing/painting, which I loved so much.

It was a beautiful memory of mine, spending one lovely summer day with my sister and my nephew.

By the way, he used to tell me he wants to become a pilot when he gets older, but now he wants to become a peacock!
