AnimalMomentium #1 - Defining the door vs. being shown so you can walk through
Welcome reader to a new experimental series of posts exclusive to Steemit. Myself and my friend @khagen8te have decided to call this series AnimalMomentium.
The Plan
My mate @khagen8te and I often have fairly deep discussions about whats going on around us, we are very different people, but we share a common passion towards natures rights (human and animal) and we both recognize we have a simple common high-level objective, we want to help this planet and the life on it....
Each week one of us is going to do a post on something which is on our mind, something which we each believe could influence the world, to make it a better place. There are no boundaries, we can choose any topic, we can use pictures, we can make it a competition, doesn't matter, it just needs to contribute to our common objective and help us to learn something new about each other.
That's about as far a the plan has gone, the rest we are just going to leave to fate and Steemit.
Sounds simple enough?....hardly, but lets give it a go
The rules
- Every post has to somehow do something to help the planet, whether that is through increasing awareness in others, by unlocking hidden talents within, by fund raising or just sharing an idea, it has to in some way contribute towards our common goal
- We must take it in turns, this week it is my turn, next week is his
- We must make a detailed reply to each others post within the first couple of days of posting. I'm not talking a "great post dude!" reply, it needs to be detailed and share our own personal thoughts, feelings and reflections about the other persons post. In short the reply must also contribute to our common objective.
- The reply must totally be the truth from the other persons perspective, no lies, no deception...what did they truly think about the post, how did it make them feel? deep personal feeling shared - no restraint, even if it ends the friendship outright!

I believe one of the biggest issues humans face today is the way we believe we are living an evolved life.... That we are some how better then the plants and animals, the earth the air, the sun..the things that sustain us. I believe we lie to ourselves on a daily basis about many things, that a system designed to help us is also destroying us and that our balance is off and getting worse. The challenge for me is how to get others to even contemplate the possibility, explain the possible cause and finally give people an idea on how to change the situation (not just for themselves but for all living things)....and most importantly how to do this without people thinking your a freak!
Being a analytical type, I've decided to create a series of scenario challenges to help people remove the veil. I'm not sure how successful they will be, but I think a small step at a time over a series of weeks might do the trick, as long as I make the objective clear and stick to it. The aim isn't to show people what I think is the right way, it's to show people the way it is! the whole ugly truth. Then hopefully people will use the only true freedom they have and make up their own minds, i.e. I'm not going to try and show you the door and let you choose to walk through it, instead I'm going to help you try and define it.
Scenario challenge one:
I want you to imagine just for a time that Magic is real (we all know it's not, but for the duration of this post, please just allow your mind to accept the possibility it was).
Now armed with this truth, how would you know if someone had cast a spell on you? how would you know you had a spell on you if the purpose of the spell was not to harm you (in fact the spell protects you, makes you feel safe), but to subdue and fool you, the soul purpose of the spell is to simply make your believe that magic isn't true (and therefore why would you even consider you had a spell controlling you?)... Now hold this thought in your mind, while I ask you two important questions about this situation.
1. How would you know you had the spell on you? I mean there is a spell on you...As far as your aware it's all good right? practically, reasonably, what tell tale signs might remain that even if the most clever spell on you was cast they couldn't hide, what might you do to open your mind enough to consider the possibility that a thing called magic exists, a thing you can't even define and in your mind is not real.
2. Would you want to know? I mean if the realization of the truth was terrifying, if it meant your whole life was a lie, and that you might be afraid....isn't it better not to know the truth? (I mean your safe, your family is safe...why even go there?)
I'm going to call this a competition - except the prize is low, for anyone who answers both questions, I will give the promise of a 100% upvote.

This is the culmination of what we have talked about for so many years. It is not our intention to brainwash, to convince other people of topics we have held dear in our hearts for so many years. To provide background and context for all people that may read this post, we have been friends for over 20 years.
More to the point and this is so crucial, we have been allies in heart and mind. Its one thing to say you are friends with someone, but when you both identify that there are issues in the world that good people ignore, place in the 'too hard basket' or are not even aware of on any level that's where we feel that a voice is currently going unheard!
My greatest lament to date refers directly to one of my most hated and revered quotes. "For evil to flourish, it required good men to do nothing". (Simon Wiesenthal)
We often joke and say that if we won the lottery we would fund and develop our own animal conservation sanctuary/park. However when i spend a nano-second thinking about such a momentous scenario it does not help the parks that already are in desperate need of funding.
So the plan is this: to flag and raise issues across the continent than can benefit from forward and positive thinking. To raise awareness to the most dire situations where it is needed most. We dont intend to change the world but by the sweet sunrise of each morning, we aim to make each day better for each animal in its own circumstance. The first step to real equilibrium is not believing that we can take and kill without the balance being foremost in our minds. I may be harassed for saying this but its all about balance, whether your vegan, vegetarian or a carnivore that likes a little avocado, there is clearly a medium for both.
Make no mistake, were not judging a persons dietary choices , we are just highlighting the practice of animal manufacture for the human market, and what we can do to change it. "I really want a burger, but i don't want to meet the cow that made it."
Question 1: How would i know a spell was upon me? Ask me to carry out an action against everything i stand for.... if i did such act i would be spellbound
Question 2: Similar to the matrix - if i cant even identify my own reality, whats the point of being alive?
Hey mate, I think this is going to be a great way to share thoughts and spread a positive message (plus learn a few extra thing about each other in the process).

What a wonderful idea. It would be fantastic if more people were aware of what's really going on around us. Why are the rich getting richer and the poor getting poorer? To answer your first question: I like to be open minded. If something unusual is happening around me I am often aware. I would take note of what is happening in the world and listen to the experiences of others. This would hopefully open my eyes to the magic that is happening around us. To answer question 2: I would most definitely want to know the truth. Even though I might feel safe living the life of a lie, I don't think I would truly be safe because I think that would be part of the lie. How can you defend yourself against something you don't believe exists? Hope that makes sense?

I think the longer the spell is around the harder it will be to break. With every new generation born, the spell will become stronger. People from the moment they are born will see others living the spell. They will believe that this is how you are suppose to exist in this world (Blind to the spell.) If anyone does become aware of the magic, others will think they are mad and do all the can to try and stop them from believing. So it would be incredibly hard to break this spell. I would like to hope that those that might begin to see even the slightest evidence of magic, would try to share what they have seen. Even at the risk of being called crazy. Hopefully that person could open the eyes of another and then that person could share with another and so on. I think the best hope would be to open the eyes of each new generation. This will hopefully help future generations see what's truly there and eventually break the spell.
Arghh! Interesting a spell that endures...
I think from the day we are born we use our senses (look, taste, touch..etc) to work out what to do. You can communicate a little with your parents (but not using spoken or written language) and as such they are unable to instruct you at such a young age...your intelligence and knowledge of truth grows from interaction and using you sensors only.
As we get older, like other creatures on this planet... our parents attempt to teach us more about the world, to gain a deeper appreciation, to fend for yourself. In nature animals and young humans learn through trial and error and careful oversight and suggestion from our parents (our parents are part of nature and a system we have learned to trust - we trust them).
As we age further and require more guidance, we stop behaving like other animals on this planet, instead we are influenced more by a complex system that cannot be tested with all your senses anymore. (communication and knowledge sharing increases through use of langauge), thus the more influenced we are, the less we rely on our own senses to work stuff out for ourselves and as such more and more our value system is grown by what others have taught us to believe.
Not saying this is good or bad, just suggesting the further we move away from natural systems and are taught things (with language), the less we use our sensors to confirm them, the more we just assume and trust the system. Based on this, just by virtue of possessing and using language it is possible, parts of our own deepest internal value system/judgement system that drives us maybe wrong/based on systems that aren't true, or worse the possibility exists they were put in place by others who haven't been completely honest with you and interfered with your learning for specific purpose :(
