Anarchapulco Day 1

ACAPULCO, Mexico - Feb. 16, 2018

By JOSH FRIEDMAN, The Nomadic Journalist

10:30 a.m. - Day 2 kicked off with Titus Gebel, a German-turned-Monacan? (resident of Monaco) advocating his concept of Free Private Cities.

“To change something, build a new model that makes the existing model obsolete,” Gebel said.

That went over well with the crypto-minded audience. Some people here at the Princess Mundial Imperial may even hit up Gebel for finding a free, private haven for their crypto-related ventures.

11:05 a.m. - Following Luis Fernando Mises (fitting name) delving into conscious capitalism and self-actualization, Sterlin Luxan, of Bitcoin.com, is taking aim at statist crypto users and investors while explaining how to manifest "The Anarchist Dream."

11:30 a.m. - Luxan briefly recounts his time spent as an MDMA street salesman. Well, maybe he did not sell the "red pill" on the streets, but he sold it to friends and family to help wake them up and give them a sense of their true self, Luxan said.

11:35 a.m. - When questioned by a member of the audience, Luxan endorsed LSD as another effective substances for “waking the fuck up.”

It's all part of The Anarchist Dream...

11:40 a.m. - Cannabis works perfectly fine for some people but not for me, Luxan said.

11:42 a.m. - On a more academic note, Luxan defines freedom as being "absent from ports of authority telling you how to live your life." The definition came in response from an audience member saying people conflate the words "freedom" and "liberty." Is there a difference between freedom and liberty???

12 p.m. - BREAKING - Another Anarchapulco speaker and reportedly former political prisoner, Dean Clifford, has been detained, according to a conference announcement. Clifford is known as the "Canadian Freeman."

“Government has stepped in and prevented some of our speakers from coming,” Anarchapulco emcee Terry Brock said.

12:05 p.m. - Brock will now be holding court as speaker for the next 55 minutes.

12:25 p.m. - Brock ( @terrybrock ), who also emceed Steemfest, is now talking about making money on Steemit!

  • Create compelling content
  • Engage the community
  • Be consistent with content creation
  • Rinse and repeat

Brock says the "3 Cs" — content, comment and consistency — are the keys to success on Steemit.

1:35 p.m. - This is probably the most "anarchist" part of the conference...

Larken Rose and Lauren Southern are debating immigration and borders — lots of screaming and ad hominems, some interesting points.

4:15 p.m. T-minus 2 hours until libertarian icon Ron Paul takes the stage at this anarchist conference

Afternoon Update - Taleed Brown, aka That Guy T, the venture culturalist, just instructed everyone to "compete culturally." Build a brand and a cultural reputation, and you make a difference and change the world, "That Guy" said.

Liberland President Vit Jedlicka just updated anarchists on the state of his libertarian (non-) state. Jedlicka walked off the stage to a loud ovation.

Peaceful parenter Dayna Martin then walked on stage with metal music playing...

4:25 - “Hospital birth is a real conspiracy,” Martin said.

4:35 - Marti is defining "unschooling" - educating kids based on their passions, not allowing them to be indoctrinated

“If you’re child’s in school you are not truly free,” Martin said. “If you have to ask an institution to spend time with your child, that is not freedom.”

Around 5:35 p.m. - an EARTHQUAKE shook the Princess hotel and sent people running out into the Acapulco streets - or hotel courtyards.

6:10 p.m. - Nonetheless, the conference room is filling up again with the expectation that Ron Paul is about to take the stage...

6:20 p.m. - RON PAUL -Bretton Woods will be the final blow to the dollar, "require an alternative" ... loud applause from the pro-Bitcoin (Cash) crowd

6:222 p.m. - 1913 also a bad year... ushered in a couple bad things

On the latest shooting:

“Let’s take the guns away from the government.”
“You got to get them out of those government schools. It’s dangerous there.”

6:40 p.m. - “Most people, when they get into the higher levels of office, become sociopaths,” said Dr. Paul.

“I want to get that government down to zilch,” the former congressman said.

If you believe in the principle of liberty, you have a moral obligation to spread that message... is how the libertarian icon wraps up his south-of-the-border-keynote.

Q&A with the doctor:

Q: Can I send you cryptocurrency, and if so, how?
A: Yes. I have to ask my staff.

That's it for Friday's speeches.

Sort:

I'm supporting restricted immigration, but perspective, which was enforced by Lauren - "I am practical, let's see the world as it is, don't be utopian" - put her on a path to almost lose this debate. Of course American government is stronger threat to freedom than muslim immigrants. And of course being anti-immigration gives you nothing for influencing right-minded people to be more freedom-oriented. Practical arguments don't exist, it's only my utopia - Hoppean one. I want to be protected and I want even more for weaker and older people to be safe from murder, rape, vocal aggression, which people from non-western cultures often bring, but far-right activist are not far worse from muslim standards. I want to live in small country which can directly control public sphere, in which I am appearing every day. My ancap protector is controlling not only random groups of people which are illegaly entering my public sphere to live on streets, he is looking, who is buying houses in my neighbourhood. Citizenship or even residency must be connected with basic cultural skills - speaking well in some western language, for example.

Yes, it's a particularly tricky balance: practicality, safety and compassion. As Nietzsche put it: how not to become monsters ourselves when fighting monsters...

By way of introduction, here, is my Coming to America story, as a lucky immigrant, poet & also Muslim

Thank you, @kuc-prawica, for supporting poetry on this platform--art is my activism and how I seek to heal our wounded and divided world. Peace, all ways, Yahia

I so envy you for this opportunity! What a great man, and statesman, Ron Paul is.

Your notes are awesome . I don't know why I didn't think of that.

Thank you. Congratulations on your first earthquake!
