Anarchapulco Day 1 #aca2018

This is Josh Friedman, The Nomadic Journalist, blogging from Anarchapulco in beautiful (and arguably dangerous) Acapulco, Mexico.

(Alternative) Media Day continued:

1:20 p.m. - Luke Rudkowski, of We Are Change, says nothing will stop him from delivering the news the mainstream media does not cover — not even being on the streets at night in Germany without a place to stay.

“Its all about believing in your purpose and mission,” Rudkowski said.

3:15 p.m. - After a large, healthy-sized lunch, (alternative) media day moves on with Carey Wedler of The Anti-Media at the podium. Do you think she will heap praise on the mainstream U.S. media??

Surprise, surprise. Wedler is quick on the draw bashing mainstream western media, first going after Reuters for allegedly skewing the North Korean government's stance on nuclear negotiations, or lack thereof.

3:30 p.m. In a surprise twist, though, Wedler has shifted the focus of her media criticism to the alternative media, making a couple points:

1. Alternative media, like mainstream media, at times wrongfully use anonymous sources.
2. Alternative media often wrongfully use Sputnik as the primary source in an article. Sputnik is Russian state media that is published in various languages around the world. Wedler questions why alternative media would distrust U.S. government-funded Voice of America, but trust Sputnik.

3:45 p.m. BREAKING - The next speaker Greg Caton, reportedly a former political prisoner, is not present at the Princess (hotel), but rather is currently detained somewhere, possibly in Ecuador, according to an announcement at Anarchapulco. Caton has promoted a cancer cure, which the U.S. government has dismissed.

3:55 p.m. Let's take a moment to have a glance at one angle of the incredibly beautiful venue of this year's Anarchapulco — the Princess Mundo Imperial in Acapulco:

4:10 p.m. - A former U.S. congressperson stands up and grabs the mic... and it is not Ron Paul!
Cynthia McKinney (U.S. Rep. from Georgia 1993-2003, 2005-2007):

"For probably the 20 last years, I have lived in a constant state of outrage," McKinney said.

5:20 p.m. - Comedian-turned pickup artist-turned "infinite man" Sasha Daygame - @sashadaygame - has taken the stage to talk about addictions... Might the topic of porn arise??

“Anyone addicted to sex?” Sasha asked. “Anarchists: You’re the guys fucking without condoms. Fuck the system.”

“I personally stopped watching Hollywood movies. I only watch porn movies because with porn movies you decide when the movie ends.”

5:30 p.m. - Sasha has quit masturbation and sex?? after all, he said.

However, "If I have a mango it's like an orgasm in my mouth," Sasha said as he describes his new habit of generally "not eating" or not putting poison in his body.

5:55 p.m. - The elegant, articulate and today blue-suited Jeffrey Tucker is delivering the opening day keynote. Tucker is not bullish on the state:

"A state without limit... It is a paradigm that is disappearing. In fact it is crumbling by the day."

7:00 p.m. - Tucker, the historian, didn't exactly wow the crowd with his academic prowess, but he concluded with a bang, saying:

"Overthrow a system of slavery, death and destruction and give us something wonderful — a free world."

Now time for an anarchist rap concert with some big Wu-Tang names...
