Blogging Anarchapulco #aca2018

Having escaped winter in Bulgaria earlier this week, I made it to the beginning of the 2018 anarchist/libertarian convention in Acapulco, Mexico called Anarchapulco. Internet permitting, I will be blogging updates from this conference of people ranging from hippies to cryptocurrency multi-millionaires to former Congressman Ron Paul.

Anarchapulco is kicking off today with what is essentially (alternative) media day. American broadcast journalist Ben Swann is currently on stage, revealing how he managed to overcome censorship — largely from his local affiliate bosses — and deliver investigative reporting on U.S. politics on mainstream U.S. television.

11:45 a.m. - Ben Swann just wrapped up his speech, which turned out to be a lot more about why the mainstream media is at risk of extinction (hint: cryptocurrency and blockchain technology) than about how to sneak in investigative reporting on U.S. television news.

“The opportunity of cryptocurrency is more than finance," Swann said. "We’re going to create disruption in every sector.”

Swann revealed that he quit (or technically was fired) from his most recent mainstream media gig and is now sponsored by the community of the cryptocurrency Dash to produce his reporting free of censorship.

12:15 p.m. - Dan Dicks, founder of Press For Truth, is on the stage discussing CHRIST and ANARCHY... interesting... an Anarchapulco surprise? Christ is the foundation of our civilization, Dicks said. Governments are conditioning us into a society "devoid of religious truth."
