Anarchaforko Anarchapulco Fork Update: Pre-Fork Photo Shoot and Thoughts

in #anarchaforko6 years ago

The fork was a success! We had our main event this weekend at Acapulco International Center. We went into it being really nervous and scared honestly but by the end of the first day we were seriously happy with how things were going. It seemed to work as intended, people took the freedom and ran with it. I've got a lot to share about this, more than what can possibly fit in one post but for now I'll share some of my day after thoughts, having had a little time to wind down. This shot above is from when @kennyskitchen and his crew first showed up.

I got some shots of the hall before it got set up that first day. We didn't end up renting the outdoor amphitheater because it was thousands of dollars a day to do so so we couldn't justify it not knowing how many people would show up. We had a small stage built in the corner that got used by @larkenrose and @dragonanarchist on the second night, which blew everyone including me away.

We had a circle set up with an open center of chairs for larger talks that required it.

It made a great place to do the Steemit panel between me, @kennyskitchen and @erikaharris that'll be posted on dtube in parts soon!

We hired Corona to sell beers in cups as there was a rule that we couldn't have beer bottles or cans in our contract. The reasoning was that they could be used as weapons by drunk people (thrown) which somewhat made sense. There was a bit of drama with a forker who decided to go to Oxxo and purchase some beer cans and bottles to sell himself to forkers for marked up prices . When asked to stop he didn't want to until he had sold what we did. More drama ensued that ended in him being the only person to be threatened to be kicked from the fork, by both John and I separately. We're all for capitalist ventures, but if you're going to try to cut in on someone else's business at least try and cut in on one that's doing well (they sold very little.). And don't go against one of the few rules given by the people who owned the property.

Much of the great conversation actually happened out here, in the area just outside the building.

These were all taken just as people started to set up their tables. Hardly anyone was there at the time.

@kennyskitchen rented this room for workshops for the whole weekend and deemed it the Temple of Sovereignty.

The bathrooms were seriously so nice I had to take a picture of them. What's funny is we never even looked at the bathrooms before we rented the hall, they were seriously beautiful.

So stay tuned for more updates, as there are many to come as we recap what happened and what we would change for next year. All things considered, we expect next year to be seriously awesome. It forking happened guys, and it was forking great.
