New arrivals at ABQ Zoo
At the Albuquerque Zoo, Thorn, the baby elephant is growing up and has is feeling right at home with his herd. He's the fourth Asian elephant born at the zoo since 1992 and he's gaining around two to three pounds a day. He is getting to big to fit underneath his mother's belly, though he still likes to try!
The newest giraffes at the ABQ Biopark are doing well, too. One-year-old Jambazzi and his sister Malika are up over 800 pounds now. A pair of baby lemurs are healthy after coming to live at the zoo this summer as well.

Two baby hyenas also came to the zoo over the summer. Named Havoc and Ruckus, these guys are cute! But it is yet undetermined if they are are really guys or not. Female hyenas have a "pseudo penis," which makes the determination of gender very difficult at their young age without a blood test.
