MAP Rewarder: Distributed Rewards for 22 July 2018 (APR 19.3%)

in #accelerator6 years ago

This week's distributed profits are 0.370%, equivalent to an APR of 19.3%.

Compare this with the bidbots listed on iSteemd and you will see that MAP Rewarder pays out more than all of them.

The values below that relate to the Steem blockchain remain volatile, yet are still a useful snapshot to gauge the MAPR returns.

Let's lay out the different percentages to make them clearer. These are all calculated in terms of STEEM per SP.

Gross turnover inc. payouts = 0.493% [1]
Gross income ex-payouts = 0.462% [2]
Value of Steemit upvotes = 0.421% [3]
Adjusted value of Steemit upvotes = 0.351% (APR 18.3%) [4]
Distributed MAPR payouts = 0.370% (APR 19.3%) [5]
Total MAPR payouts = 0.401% (APR 20.9%) [6]

[1] Gross turnover generated for the week.
[2] Gross income minus the random free upvotes, SBI shares given to delegators and MAP upvotes.
[3] Theoretical maximum value of Steemit upvotes, assuming 10 full upvotes at 100% power for 7 days.
[4] Theoretical value of Steemit upvote rewards, assuming 25% curation rewards, 50-50 split of post payouts and SBD print rate.
[5] MAP Rewarder distributed payout sent to delegators this week; this is 80% of [2].
[6] Total payouts for the week, equal to {[5] + [1] - [2]}.

Note that MAP Rewarder is able to generate income higher than the theoretical maximum for pure upvotes - that is, [1] is greater than [3]. This includes upvotes to quality content curators and MAP Rewarder delegators.

Note that this week our total value of payouts and upvotes is slightly lower than the theoretical maximum for pure upvotes - that is, [6] is slightly higher than [3]. This is due mainly to the transition to supporting curators. From this week onwards, the values of [3] and [4], which come from the blockchain, shall be 7-day averages to give a better representation of the whole week's earnings.

Finally, our weekly distributed profits to delegators is higher than post rewards payouts - that is, [5] is higher than [4].

Profits will be paid today to SP delegators in STEEM.

Benefits of Delegating to MAP Rewarder

= a high weekly payout in STEEM. Our returns are higher than many other income sources on Steemit - just compare our returns with various bidbots. On top of this weekly payout, we have:

= free upvotes to delegators. These are currently set at 3% and come from my @rycharde account. These add a significant return, especially for smaller SP delegations.

= random free full upvote and free SBI share once per week. See our recent Free Vote Friday and Free SBI Saturday.

So, three different sources of rewards plus a high weekly payout!

I hope this will stimulate some further delegations and will help some users make a significant return on their SP. But please remember that the first distributed profits will be received on the first Sunday after 7 day from the time of delegation - the cut-off is midday GMT on Sundays.

How to Delegate to MAP Rewarder

To delegate SP to MAP Rewarder, please read our Introduction document.

You can also delegate using these links:

10 SP, 20 SP, 50 SP, 100 SP, 500 SP, 1000 SP, Other.

If you do not have spare SP to delegate, then you can still follow our Curation Trail or Fanbase on SteemAuto (or follow us on Steem Voter), and gain some higher-than-average curation rewards.

News

I have changed the layout of our numerical data; I hope the different numbers are slightly clearer!

Much of what I used to write here in the News section can now be read at the top of the article as addenda to the table.

All our percentages are calculated like-for-like based on STEEM so that these are real returns in STEEM per delegated SP (which is also priced in STEEM).

A reminder that we have two missions: to be profitable to delegators and to support our MAP Curator Trail and thereby improve the quality of posts on Steemit. The @accelerator account, ignoring the delegated SP, is growing slowly but steadily and forms the basis of our upvotes to curators who are in the MAP Trail.

Important News

We are in the middle of very turbulent conditions. We are bouncing around a support level; any break downwards from here could easily see cryptos halve in value. This is a consequence of the whole crypto market and not isolated to STEEM and SBD. However, there are also features of the Steem blockchain that users need to be aware of.

The prices of STEEM and SBD are so close to US$1 that just one or two cent swings become magnified by the formula used to calculate rewards. Add to this the changes to the SBD print rate (currently 41%), and we have a situation where the APR can easily swing 2% in under a day.

Next rewards distribution will be on Sunday 29 July.

Well done! 👍

Many thanks @direwolf! Since isteemd started, we've been either at the top or in the top three; except we are not a bidbot, so are not included.
MAP Rewarder is still somewhat "under the radar" as we payout weekly; good for the current delegators :-)

MAP Rewarder is still somewhat "under the radar" as we payout weekly; good for the current delegators :-)

If MAP was more prominent and had more delegations would that decrease the payout and would the payout be daily? I'm not sure if I understood that.

As so much income comes in as SP, it really isn't possible to pay out daily as that SP needs to be turned into liquid STEEM.

I just assume many people prefer daily, or even hourly payouts, even though they will be tiny compared to a weekly total.

Any new delegation actually takes 14 days to be fully integrated into the fund - 7 days of upvotes plus 7 days for those to yield rewards. However, being a mixed strategy, I can lessen this period. If I just left it all on automatic, then new delegations would slightly dampen returns in the first week, but as it is actively managed I can change the mix of incomes to mitigate this.

I guess I should have phrased it the other way round: why is so much money going into bidbots when we are doing as well and often better in terms of returns?

Yeah I don't mind the weekly payout.

So new delegations wouldn't reduce the payouts (APR)? That's the most important thing.

I might do a promo post about accelerator on my blog for whatever good it will do. You're a minnow curation project right?

I hope you also noticed that you're getting upvotes too from your delegation - they come from my @rycharde account as a single account can only run so many algorithms before they get in each other's way.

If you look at recent MAP posts that are not about the Rewarder, you'll see I've changed focus in the last few weeks. MAP now supports quality curators, especially individual curators, so that they in turn support the good content creators.

When I first created MAP as a minnow support group, a year ago, there were few other groups around. Now there are many, so I figured on a new approach that would spread out beyond a single group.

You may wish to look at this fairly recent post: The MAP Trail Curation Contest - Delegated SP and Free Upvotes - Week 2

Yes I've noticed the @rycharde account upvoting and no @accelerator upvotes. But aren't those smaller?

I'll check the post, thanks.

You've given me something to ponder...

The upvotes are a new addition to MAPR and the thinking behind it is to change the "yield curve" so that modest delegations can see significant benefits - without ruining the earning algorithm!

If you look at the numbers at the top of the page, the difference between [6] and [5] is 1.6% APR, or about 7.5% of rewards going out as upvotes. Those are "non-earning" upvotes in the sense that they are part of our support to MAP members and delegators but they are not part of the earning algorithm. If I start to increase those, then the total earnings will drop - the extreme case is that all upvotes go to delegators and we get a tiny curation income.

Hence the separation between two accounts so that I can actually do more than with just one account.

However, you have made me think that there is also a logic that existing delegators may benefit from new delegators (a small amount) if those upvotes were from the same account - or in some way tied to it.

It's in the maths... somewhere!

One immediate consequence that does spring to mind is that the minimum SP would probably have to increase to avoid becoming a pure upvote-service.
