WIP update 3 – Graphite Artifact – The Waves

in #abstract5 years ago

Hello :)

Quick post today, just an occasion to share the work, still in progress, on this piece. The first photo is a bit too greyish, as it was shot during a rainy day :)

Graphite drawing has almost completely drowned under the surge of the coloured Waves. A few spots are still trying to emerge and define hard lines and limits.

Not sure how this will evolve yet, but a few angled lines and solid structures could give birth to something like an abstract boat :)

I'm still experimenting a lot on this painting: as I'm not used to work with colors and painting, each stroke seems to teach me something new. I feel like a child running after butterflies :p

But, as said above, that's only a quick post. Nothing too long to read today, so : that's all folks ! :D

Have a nice day, Ladies and Gentlemen !

I really love these colours, so soft.
For some reason I don´t seem to see your posts on my feed of favourites! I don´t know why if I´m following, anyway... lovely find!

Thanks @romanie ! :)
No hurt :) I also have notifications problems despite using steemplus favorites.
Oh, and you know what ? My will to explore softer colors has heavily been inspired by your own work :p
I've been slapped in the face more than once when looking at your pieces, and the way you manage values and saturation softness is what strikes me each time.
So : many thanks to you, because you're an inspiring artist :)

Have a nice day !

wow! I´m really surprised to hear this! Thank you! Nice start to the day. I just was checking things and really like the colours and textures of you last post in facebook. Yes, I feel very taken by those tones. Also inspiring! :-)

Thanks a lot @c-squared :)

I really like the muted colour palette you are working with, Pascal :) It's so ethereal * ___ * ! And as usual, I love your attitude of just working WITH your pieces, without the desire to control all the elements and instead forming a symbiotic relationship with the journey of each artwork :D :D :D

Can't wait to see the completion of this one, for sure <3

Glad you like, Liske :)
Yeah, that way of working has something of a travel, dealing with abstract random encounters and dealing with them to go further, with no precise idea of the destination.

That's also why I'm not good at ilustration :D
Even if both approaches leads to creation, they seem to follow the exact opposite path, one starting from extreme control of the situation, the other one from extreme chaos.

YES that is so true, they both are creative paths, but they seem to originate from opposite spectrums, dont they?

I like both, but I function better without planning, for some reasons, I tend to feel a bit suffocated when I have to follow a clear layout of planning of how the canvas MUST look like at the end...

I know that suffocation feeling :D

During a long while I thought that disciplined method was the only way to go, and Illustration was the only path that could be mine... Results were disappointing, almost always half-finished.
That ended with no drawing or painting at all during a few years :D

Finally I've understood that Chaos was my starting point, creation was the vehicle, and the course was set to some form of balance.

I guess that drawings and paintings are finally only pictures taken during the trip :D

Maybe when that balance would be reached I'd be able deal with both approaches :)

excellent artistic work, I congratulate you are very good

Thank you @betzaelcorvo :)
I'm touched :)
