Hail in North Missouri May 20th, 2018 - Wizstead Post #16

in #life6 years ago

Last night about midnight...
pop pop pop
hail hitting our metal roof...

They were some big ones!!!

Here's a sampling

2018-05-20 Hail.jpg

The garden looks like it survived. Whew!
Can't say the same about the Jeep taillight.
Several dents in the Jeep and my pickup.

The town about 4 miles north of here

got hit about 10AM this morning.
Broke out a window of the Baptist church.
Lots of damage.

Roofers will be busy for awhile...

Water Plant lost power

About 1AM the water plant called me.
The whole town must have been without power.
Then it called again about 7AM.
It's not my weekend, so I didn't go in...

Rain off and on all day

Every time I try to go out to work in the yard or garden it rains on me.
::shrug::

Sorry to hear about the Jeep but at least the garden survived.

Thanks @myhuntingfishing
Guess we'll get to see how GEICO handles it. The jeep can be fixed...
Whew, glad about the garden, too.

Wow. I’ve always heard of golf ball sized hail...but never seen it. That is crazy. It like from the movies😂

Sorry about all the damage. Prayers up for those hurt.

It's the biggest I've ever seen. I'm surprised there weren't more dents in our vehicles. Strange how it kept hailing hours apart within about a 15 mile area.

These are huge indeed ... O.O
And the garden survived that? Wow.

About 1AM the water plant called me.

You have not been called in for emergency then?

I've never seen any that big in person. Only on TV...

  • Yes I feel very lucky about the garden.
    • The other guy took care of the plant.

This is crazy. Weather manipulation being used against us?? I know Acts of God are not covered under insurance but, if it can been proven that they are manipulating the weather. It could get pretty expensive!!

It seems like the entire country is being hit with nasty rain. Down in the South we are over a week of it constantly, with some lovely thunderstorms thrown in.

Damn those are big

Wow. I've seen some decent-sized hail in my day, but that beats anything I've seen. It sounds like it was fairly slow moving and contained to a small area. I don't know how hail normally acts, but that does sound rather odd. I'm always surprised to see it there since it seems to come at odd times, like May.

You were however wanting some rain, I thought. Not large hurtling ice balls of doom. :)
