UPDATE To My Previous Post About the 4 Post Per Day Limit On Steem: The Limit Was Lifted in March 2017 - I Didn't Know

in #steemit7 years ago (edited)

My post here originally warned about an issue relating to the 4 Posts per day limit that existed on Steem/Steemit - but I was informed that this limit had been removed. According to the notes for Steem on Github this limit was lifted in March 2017 - I had no idea at all.

https://github.com/steemit/steem/releases/tag/v0.17.0

So s far as I know, you can post as many times a day as you like without being penalised! So you can ignore my previous warning and just post whatever you like, whenever you like!

I apologise for any confusion, but when searching in steemit for this issue I could only see comments relating to the posting limit and couldnt' see anything at all referring to it being lifted - I don't know why that is.

What do you think?

I didn't know about this. I haven't posted more than 3 at most in one day anyways, but it is good to know for the future. Resteem!

That's wrong. This thing limit/penality has been removed. Can you erase you post @ura-soul. I will flag so that people don't mislead but I will remove my flag when you erase your post.

Try to change the title of you article to explain this information was erroneous.

I have search several times on this topic and never seen anyone saying the limit has been revoked - can you show me where this limit has been officially revoked?

It was officially announced in this post below and was implemented in the HF 17. You'd have to check at the github to have the official thing but I hope this would be enough.

It's good you asked though. I really hope you'll change your title so people know this limit was drop.

OK, I see - I didn't go through all the code changes for 17, but I can see the comment in the version notes in Github, so I will update my post now.. thanks for the info :)

The post has now been ammended.

Thank you I removed my down vote.

OK, thanks - I just posted on this topic and suggested an improvement to the process of defining the rules here at steemit.

You keep touching on important issues, and I keep following like:

Hmmm, yes tell me more...

i'm going to presume here that sarcasm isn't involved :)

Lol. You presume correct, that is me up there everytime you post something good like this.

This thing limit/penality has been removed.

I wasn't aware that it is only 4 post per day. Thanks for sharing this information, I will post up to 3 to make sure I am withing the time limit always!

Aha, ok - I think this was introduced a few months ago - you are really ok to post 4 times a day as long as you pay attention to the real timestamps.

I couldn't do 4 posts in a day anyway. They take me a long time. But it is good to know this in case I ever become super-human :)

hehe - that is the ultimate objective of steemit club - superhuman-ness :)

Working on it!

Thank you for letting me know. I will be proud of myself if I can ever make 4 posts in a day! I do only one or two now and that takes me a long time for each.

I had no idea such limit even existed. Of course, I'm having trouble managing 4 posts a week, not just 4 posts a day, so that is not a direct concern for me right now, but what bothers me personally is that there are so many limitations, rules and variables and I have no clue where to look if I wanted to learn about all of them. Is there such a resource or would something like the would be limited to people with coding knowledge that could look into the codebase or something?

I was just informed that this 4 post per day limit was removed in March - I had no idea. The changes are logged in the Steem project on github -
https://github.com/steemit/steem/releases/tag/v0.17.0

I see, that's important to know.

This question really highlights how much or the rules are bound to remain unclear to the layperson. It turns out that if I want to really understand what rules govern the Steem platform, I need to dive into github and start from the beginning and look into what changes each hardfork has introduced that would still be in place. Or I have to be able to look at the actual codebase which would not be something I think I'm capable of.

This is one of the small things that make it hard for regular people on Steemit, it's just user-unfriendly in that way.

I agree, yes - There really needs to be a clear page that defines the current rules and parameters.. I am not aware of one. Thanks for your comments.

I'm not aware of one either and I've searched. If I felt qualified to do a good job, I would embark on this task. But I think a witness is actually more likely to have the ability, knowledge and motivation to start keeping something like that up.

I am a regular person who knows nothing of crypto or blockchains or bots or a lot of the things here. I had no idea what I was getting myself into and this is why I'm holding back on asking friends to come right now.

I am here for the Alexa ranking to get my current work more reach. I think that is working and will work better the more I post. But asking a mom-blogger or an author friend to come here? No, I cant do that right now. Just explaining what I know and what I don't know would be enough to turn them off.
