Moon Monday - Full Moons in 2017

in #moonmonday5 years ago

Happy Moon Monday! What exactly is that, you ask? Well, like I said two weeks ago, I'm sharing some moon pictures, and today is Monday!

I started taking pictures every month of the full moon back in March 2015, and seemed to recall I had a pretty good streak of getting shots of the full moon for a number of months in a row. And while in my first Moon Monday post, I said...

....and the streak ended... well, I don't quite remember. I figure we can find out together. So for the next handful of weeks, I'll share full moon photos, one for each month, until I find a month without one.

...I discovered pretty quickly that I only made it until September 2016 before I missed a month (thanks to a bum knee). However, I started again for November 2016 so I decided to just keep going for it.

Now since I already know my streak got broken, and since I had a hard time choosing between shots some months, for this post I have 18 of my favorite moon captures from 2017.

Also, all of these shots were taken with my Nikon (which I talk about in this post) whilst making use of my handy dandy tripod.

Full Moons in 2017!

1. January 2017 Full Wolf Moon

1. January again, resting on some tree branches

2. February Full moon rising

2. February, a few minutes after an eclipse, with some hazy cloud cover and behind the trees

2. February Full moon moon bow

3. March, behind the branches

3. March - this is one of a few composite photos I've created, and I'm including it because it was done in March 2017 using two of my March 2016 photos of a crow and the full moon.

4. April full moon framed by the tree branches

5. May - another miss. This one was taken the night after full, because of a storm on the night of.

6. June Full Honey Moon

7. July - another stormy month, but the clouds parted long enough for me to get some shots

8. August Moon is shy, hiding her face behind the tree

9. September Moon

10. October Full moon rising behind the trees

10. October Full moon high in the sky

11. November - I had another bat encounter (like in August 2016), but this time there were 4 bats flying past the moon! At first glance, it only looks like 3, but if you look closely, you can see the fourth at the very bottom of the moon, just off the edge.

11. November's moon playing peek-a-boo with the clouds

12. December, and the moon wanted another go round of peek-a-boo. Who am I to say no? 😊

Hold cow those are some crazy and amazing photos you took! What are you using to take those pictures?? I mean you got some magic going on girl! ( I know it's your Nikon, but still)

Aww, thanks so much, @foxyspirit! It helps that I've taken hundreds and hundreds of shots of La Luna. And yes, my Nikon deserves a great deal of the credit. 😊

Those shots are fabulous! I especially like the ones framed by the tree branches. And the moon/crow combo is awesome! I'm glad you decided to have a Moon Monday!

Much appreciated, @cindyhartz! I still have enough monthly shots for a 2018 post, and possibly a bit of 2019, and after that I might just do Moon Monday for all of my other pics of different phases. It's a great excuse to moon gaze, even if it's only at my computer screen. 😂

And again, thanks so much! 😊

Love love those twigs across the moon's face..............atmosphere is incredible.
Well done and thank you.

You're welcome, and thanks so much in return for your kind words, @justjoy! 😊

Mysterious moon is how I call that strange thing.

I usually call her, "La Luna" ❤️🌕

We seem to share the same love of moon shots my friend.
Some really great shots here and you are indeed very artistic.
Lately I have been concentrating on daylight moon shot and in today's post I waited until the moon was totally halfway to take the shot.
Well done with this lovely post!
Blessings!

Oooo, I love daytime La Luna photos as well, @papilloncharity - I'll have to take a peek at yours! Thank you so much for your wonderful compliments, and I hope you're having a wonderful week!

We are of the same mind about the moon Lady Traci and when I opened your post, my wife walked past and she asked if I were posting my moon shots again hahaha
The latest post has only one moonshot in it, but I had to wait until the moon turned into the halfway position.

Love your images of the full moon! You must have been very dedicated to catch all those full moon pics! They would make a lovely book!
Thanks for sharing!

That's a wicked cool idea, @porters - one of these days I might just do a Moon Book! And thanks so much for your kind words. 😊

I have a really good photo book template with multiple licenses that I bought to put together the pictures of the wildflowers that grow in the boreal forest where I live. Because I have multiple licenses for it I could work on your moon book if you are interested.

Oh wow, @porters - that's an amazingly generous offer! My household is a bit chaotic at the moment, but I might shout out in a week or so, and talk to you about this some more. Regardless, even just suggesting this totally made my day! THANK YOU! 😊

You're most welcome! I love composing books of all sorts!

These are all amazing!!!

Thanks so much, @tarotbyfergus! 😊

I love this series @traciyork

Fantastic pictures.

Thanks so much, @cheese4ead! I'm really enjoying doing it too - in fact, when I'm done with the full moons, I think I might start working on all the other phases of the moon I've snapped over the years. 😊
