Into my 40'ssteemCreated with Sketch.

I remember thinking 40...wow that is old when I was kid. Now that I just past that milestone in life it just doesn't feel that old. Sure I hate to admit to getting old, but 40 is looking pretty good from where I'm sitting.

Life Is Good.jpg

When you have an amazing family and friends everything else is just a bonus. I have to 3 amazing girls in our house that love me, my Wife and 2 Daughters, and even the soon to be 12 year old still needs her "Daddy Time". My 8 year old will still snuggle with me and fall asleep in my arms as she did tonight (if only these days could last forever). Been with my Wife now for over half my life and she truly is my best friend. My Girls might not be my only reason for life, but they are top of the list.

My Parents live close which is great and we work together on 1 of my businesses. This business is absolutely not worth my time for earning income, but it allows me to spend time with both my Parents. Working side by side with them and bring my kids in to help out allowing them the chance to see a different side of "Yaya and Papa" makes the time spent very rewarding.

A Sister who at one time in my life I just couldn't stand...you know those hormonal years, yup we wanted to kill each other most days. Now as adults we've become very close friends and it's a blessing to have her in my life and living only a couple miles away.

I'm lucky to say the least to be able to say 3 of my Grandparents are still alive. 2 of which I see on a regular basis. They are now in a nursing home that is about 2 miles away which makes seeing each other much easier. Sadly their health is declining, but I've had 40 years to learn from them and my kids have gotten to know their Great Grandparents.

Can't ask for a better group of friends. 20 of them made an overnight trip for my Birthday and partied all day with me. To get that many friends to set aside two days just to celebrate your birthday is pretty amazing. Many of these friends have been part of my life since my teen years. We have crazy stories to tell of our past and now as we've gotten older those memories bond us, but we have grown beyond our pasts and our friendships have evolved as we have all grown as people.

Another chapter in my life has closed. My thirties brought me my second child, nieces and nephews, new friends, and the passing of a few friends who left us way to early in life. I'll look back on the memories of my 30's fondly, but never for to long as my future is bright and don't want to miss a thing!

Used to think 40 was old...boy I'm glad my younger self didn't know as much as he thought he did. Sitting here thinking what is old I've decided it's not an age but a mindset. We each become old at a different age and it's not about our bodies as much as our minds and souls.

You are old once you stop learning. You are old once you stop loving life. You are old once you stop trying to grow as a person. You are old once you can't find joy in the simple things in life. And no question you are old once you have decided it is so.

Stay young and keep loving life!

Thanks to everyone that took the time to read my post!! To those that take the time to read, like, and make a real comment I try hard to go and read one of your recent posts and return the favor. It's a good way to meet new people and find interesting blog posts.

Me like! I can see your account is somewhat new so this introduction is a long time coming. One upvote for you and I'm waiting for many more posts in the future!
When having a new account it can be hard to recieve big upvotes so you could give @MinnowPowerUp a go. This service lets you earn up to 30% more steem power than just powering up! It's a subscription based daily upvote bot that draws its power from a delegation pool. I have more info on my experience with the system in this post where I explain how I earn over $1 a day from upvotes.

You are truly blessed my friend.
You have reached a good solid point in your life and it seems to me that your life is actually only just beginning. At 40, this is still only young considering how much longer we live these days. And now you have all that life knowledge behind you to help you go forward. Yes life looks good for you:

How wonderful to have two daughters. I have one daughter who is fully grown now but it made me smile to tell of your youngest daughter falling asleep on your arms. I cherish such memories myself and often miss them I tell you they are the greatest moments in our lives and I tell this speaking as a man who now 50, ten years older. I still feel young and strong my friend and that I am just beginning, so imagine how much positive life you have ahead of you : )

The fact that 20 of your friends came for your birthday speaks so much about you and proves my instincts about you (that your are a decent human-being) are correct. The size of a man´s heart is reflected in the amount of true friends he has. Indeed in this, you are a wealthy man.

The last part of this post telling of who we become old when we decide we are old is great wisdom indeed.
I am proud to know and converse with you here on Steemit my good fellow.
Loved this post @thedarkhorse

Thank you @arthuradamson for your kind words. I have enjoyed our conversations here on Steemit and look forward to continuing to get to know you and see more of your art!

A warm and inspiring post. Age truly is a state of mind.

Followed you. Upvoted and commented on your most recent post. Some good info there I will pass along to my brother inlaw.

@thedarkhorse...reading your post reminds me what my husband always says... the firts 40 years is childhood are always the hardest.. hahaha he is a 37year old mountain biker with the soul of a 14yead old... LOL..

My Wife reminds me all the time that I still act like I'm 20. Work Hard, Play Hard, and Party Hard. Maybe have slowed down a little, but hopefully not to much.

@marglys Just an FYI, don't waste upvotes on posts that are past 6 days old. Technically it's 7 days, but there is a cut off point 12 hours before payout so to be safe I use 6 days. Your upvote doesn't give any rewards on an older post. To be honest I'm not sure about comments on old posts so I didn't upvote yours and instead went to your blog and upvoted and resteemed a post.

I'm going to set you up for at least a week with an auto upvote to your first post each day. Just started using this voting bot, but it's a really easy way to make sure you vote each day for certain people. Take a look if you want (I get nothing for the referral) https://steemdunk.xyz/ . The login is secure and your account if safe with this service. Something to consider as a way to help your curation rewards. Make sure you set the vote power to 100% and do it around 22-25 minutes for anyone you add to help maximize your chances of getting curation rewards.

Good luck!

thanks for the info @thedarkhorse I´m new at this I voted for your post because my husband feels the same way...But I´ll keep this in mind...Thank you some much for the auto upvote I´ll take a look at steemdunk

No problem. Know I voted on multiple older posts when I first started as I was used to facebook where you never think about money. Also keep in mind your voting power goes down with each vote and you have 20 full value votes per day (if you didn't go over the day before).

To see what your power is go here: https://steemd.com/@marglys

each hour your voting power goes up about 1% so to keep your votes with maximum power you need to watch this. I am bad about it and the only time I get to max is when I can't get online for a couple days, but since I have enough voting weight it's not as big of a deal. Still giving out 6 cent upvotes at 70% voting power. At 100% I am probably at 9 cents right now.

Another great post !
Enjoy the kids while you can, around my 40-year mark my Son & Daughter became very independant. I took the whole summer off to hang with them, and in 2 months squeezed in a morning with my Son and 2 weeks with my Daughter ( only because it was a distant camping trip ).
From that year on, every winter went backpacking or sailboat crusing for the whole winter ( me time ). Eventually a few years later choising Panama to settle ( half by accident ) and not returning home for 4 years.
Well then I get the abondonment routine LOL
I now have a 2 year old Grandson and plan on yearly summer visits. But missed this year due to immigrating ( permanent resident ) to Panama and could not get away.
Keep up the great posts, you will do well here :-)
see you @ the tables

BTW, Make time for the grandchild! It will make your kids happy that you do so and more important there is nothing like having a good Grandpa to look up to for your Grandkids.

Thank you for your kind words. Must say my oldest just hit middle school and for sure she is starting to spend less time with me. Hope to keep her close as long as possible. I have a huge advantage as my toy business allows for something they like to do with me. They come "work" the shows and hand all day with me. They get to learn how to haggle with people and deal with money. Real life skills learned while spending time together...who can ask for more.
