Walnut Beach Pier long exposures
Walnut Beach Pier long exposures
For this post I will share a few more shots taken the other mornings at Walnut Beach of the pier.
These were taken using my New Filter Kit the Haida M10 System and using a 10 Stop ND Filter
I have just started using this system to get this dort of effects I would love if you have the time to have you give some feedback on which is your favorite of these 4 shots.
Starting with one side of the pier.
Sony A7iii 24mm F13 30 Sec ISO 100

Using the filter I was able to take long exposures, the first one was a 30 second exposure, the reason I wanted to be able to do longer exposures when the light was out is to get the soft feel to the water,
This next shot is a 20 Second exposure looking under the pier, there were light waves coming in but that has been smoothed out with an exposure this long.
Sony A7iii 24mm F9 20 Sec ISO 100

And now a shot on the other side of the pier, this one a 30 Second exposure, of course with exposures this long a tripod is essential.
Sony A7iii 24mm F14 30 Sec ISO 100

And a last shot of the pier this time a little further away from it.
Sony A7iii 24mm F18 125Sec ISO 100

And that’s all folks
unless stated otherwise all photos used in my posts are taken and owned by myself, if you wish to use any of my images please contact me.

Howdy JJ! Those long exposures make the water look like glass and the ocean never looks like glass does it? Those a super cool. Hey, congratulations on the League win this week, I sent an sbi share to you yesterday but then I forgot to tell you. lol.
NO the ocean is always moving for sure that why I do love what I can do with these Neautal Density filters freeze it like gladss
and thanks so much for the SBI :)
Those were amazing shots, they didn't even look real they were so striking! You are very welcome, another great week in the League!
Thanks again I plan on doing more long exposures when the conditions are right
All shots are great, but I do also like the first photo most, because of the clouds - they look just like I wanted them in my sunrise a few days ago ;)
If you had removed these crossing boards, then we could have seen through the whole length of the pier, and then the second photo would have been my absolute favorite :)
I think, you have a perfect place to play with the filters, and you are doing a great work. The water is so wonderfully smooth, and as I said above, the clouds are just as I like them 😊

Thanks for your feedback I suspect if I removed those crossing boards the pier may collapse and the locals would not be happy LOL
I do of course plan on doing more shots with the filters I am loving them and what they can do :)
Wouldn't you do anything for a good photo? lol
I have just seen, that doing this would be a lot of work, and it might take a few sunrises until you are finished ;)
Well anything within reason I think I would be arrested well before finishing chopping them out so it would be wasted effort
Why arrested? Don't they understand "art"? ;)
That was just fun, but...
An artist is going to plant trees in our stadium, calls it "art", gets paid (I don't want to know the additional costs we tax payers have to pay) and nobody gets arrested:
https://forforest.net/en/
https://www.visitklagenfurt.at/en/forforest/art-project.html
I do love trees - in the forest, in a park... alive... these 299 trees have been delivered in spring, have been waiting aside the stadium, and some have already died because of the heat, but they will still be part of this "art installation".
I am not sure I understand art, I to like trees but moving trees into a stadium when there are so many forests in your country, and secondly, I wonder will the transplant the trees back when its finished or just trash them?
As far as I know, the trees come from tree nursereys and after the project "FOR FOREST" is finished, they should be transplanted near the stadium - the trees, which will be still alive then.
I just cannot see any sense in this project, where visitors sit in the stadium and look down at the trees. It is not allowed to walk through this little forest.
I do agree that is kind of bizarre to me also, why not go and see real trees in their natural environment and not in a stadium

Want to have your post on the map too?
I love the effects of the long exposure.
I am going to go out on a limb here because although I almost bit on the first one as my favorite, it ended up that I like #3 as a favorite. Because it is the other side of the dock, the color is more dominant in my vision and the back is more focused. It is more pleasing to my eye. I also like having the more water visible, although, I must admit, I usually love more of the subject in a direct line.
Great job on these and thanks for being a great Guide for #SteemUSA!

Thanks Kindly my friend I went back and forth on which to put first between the first and third one as I did like them both, the first one seems to be the most popular from comments, but that may be because many do not scroll down to see the others I suspect LOL
I do appreciate your feedback and it makes sense to me what your saying
I can actually see why most like it. When I went back again, the first really seems like the natural choice as I love the placement of the pier.
So, it was a real dilemma and I can agree that the first is probably better photographically, but, I like the third when I pull out the pieces individually.
The cool thing with Photography and art people have different tastes the first is most popular based on comments but others prefer other ones
Most times with me the one most like us not my favorite lol 😂
Awesomeness!!! I envy you the knowledge to do something like this. Really beautiful. 😊
