... oofreading work to do and I find it is too distracting to perform at the office with everyone around.

While I was working I got a call from a marketer selling a charity package to companies. While it is out of my price range, it reminded me I should do something. The package was for kids who are in hospital for longer-term visits, which is something my daughter has been. At this time last year she spent a week in intensive care after suffering from still unexplained seizures. During her stay, a nurse came around and gave her a soft toy, Hekka (Mr Clutterbuck/ Herra Hakkarainen) which she still loves to this day. The nurse said that somebody donated them to the children's wing.

There are some conditions of course about what can be donated like (they have to be new) and I asked my wife to find out what they are so we can do similar. I think that while a small thing, it did help our daughter with her stay and afterward it has become part of her life. Maybe it is because she feels they have gone through tough times together.

I know that for my wife and I, those days weren't pleasant and are far from being a distant memory. While she hasn't had any seizures since those few weeks, we are always vigilantly watching for any signs as without a diagnosis, they can't say it won't happen again.

Hekka keeps an eye on her too.

That is a great idea and something I think you should consider doing. It is not the cost of the item . but the thought that someone actually cared. Look at the difference it made with your daughter and imagine doing that for another kid now.

Yes, the parents benefit the most from it. THe kids love the toy and have a new focus for their energies.

Good thing Hekka is on the job!

These are the efforts that should be highlighted as it continues to demonstrate how there is still more good than bad in the world! I think blockchain can help as it can provide the accountability to ensure funds are provided where they are needed without being diluted.

I have a post (it will likely be tomorrow now) where I want to work out a few use cases to present to colleagues. This is definitely one. My wife and I have spoken about doing this many months ago but it has been impossible up til very soon. I am looking forward to it.

That's a beautiful idea. I'm planning on getting my dog trained as a therapy animal and taking her around to sick children in the hospital too.

It's good for us to each do something to remember the little ones feeling so isolated and in need of messages of love they can actually touch.

The kids handle it better than the parents I think. In many ways, these small acts are a reminder to the parents of hospitalized kids that they are't alone.

We have not give money to charities in years. We donate items. Retirement homes, food bank and the VA with clothes and personnel items.

I find it more effected

It is definitely more effective. The reason I couldn't give to this charity was my business sponsors a book set that goes to early childhood development already and I can't spare more directly like that. THis way, we can do what we can.

We do what we can with the resources we have. It is all a balancing act.
Early childhood development is important. That’s our future

I find out to difficult to proofread anything in the house with all the distractions :0)

But at home it is acceptable to tell everyone to shut the hell up without being sent to HR

Hehe, a very valid point! Unless you work in my place it's like a zoo

You need a HR department.

Or an AR department in your case.

Smallsteps .... smallsteps......we all love you.... keepshining love as you will do ..... always......

Resteemed once i saw her photo.... upvoted your post bcz u r good daddy...

God bless

Our daughter had also seizures. They found out that her Iron level was not good enough. Maybe you have to check your daughters levels too.

Her iron levels were fine, her bloodsugar had fallen to dangerous levels (they don't know why still). The neurologists are hoping it was a freak event but after all the testing, all we can do is wait to see if it ever happens again.

Is your daughter fine now?

Yes she is fine now. I heard sometimes they grow out of it. Hopefully it will never happen again to her and your daughter.

While I was calm when it happened, it was also the scariest moment in my life to see her face and not recognize it as hers.

I wish your family well :)
