When we talk about winter we need to consider where we live some countries have proper winter with temperature going down to -20-30C and of course, you need very warm clothes to be able to live and not be frozen.
There are other countries who have winter very mild and it is almost like autumn, very mild and maybe some rain but no snow at all.
I have a luck living in countries where winter often can be white winter with snow so that you can play outside many different interesting games like snowballs, ice-skating and skiing
As to clothes, our parents always had to save some money for winter clothes, because as children one year was enough and we were growing out of the clothes next session.
In order to give you an idea, I am sharing my painting of a girl with the first snow above.
What we all needed:
of course, winter hats, so that you cover your head and ears, usually ears become ice cold and often then you can not feel them. I loved such hats with a pompon, they wee like a little ball, very soft and cute
winter coats, they are made of warm material dedicated for winter, often it is like down jackets
scarfs, often the coats or jackets still will leave your neck open, that is why, we love to wrap our neck with warm scarves
I usually like to knit some stuff and knitted such winter hat, very simple and over one night because I could not find my own winter hat and it was expected that it will snow over night that is why it was time over evening hours to knit a quick hat.
In order to keep our skin healthy it is important to cover the hands , that means again to wear gloves when a person is outside. Do not put any creams on face when you go out, we know that creams contain moisturiser, that is water-based if the temperature outside is below zero then the creams become cold and your skin may become dry and cracks. The creams can be applied at home in the evening so that there is enough time for skin to absorb the cream.
I hope you have some idea of the winter in my country in Scotland and it was a pleasure to share it with you.

Marvelous watercolor technique. Do you paint several coats?
You knit a whole hat in one night? Are you super woman?
I love that watercolour technique and often use just few colours, I do not think I painted several coats, I love warm season it is more colourful.
As to hat, yes it was over one night, it does not require much yarn and the technique is simple, but also I knew that I do not have any hat for the next day :)
You art was outstanding. Like real face in the frame. Keep going.

Hi @steemdoctor1, Thank you for appreciating my painting, it was the day of first snow so that I wanted to capture that, the blue colour symbolised cold and winter and that fits well to that winter scene.
I remember my grandma was always knitting for us when we were little that is why I still love it, agree the pattern is great and also easy to do it.
Great. No doubt, grandmas are best in knitting 😃

Having a knitted hat for winter is a great idea and I think it's economical tooo. That's a good one
You guys are actually very lucky to have such a climate. I wish I could go skiing but my country doesn't have such weather conditions as we are in the tropics of Africa. Winter is a beautiful season but as we enjoy it let's try to keep warm and protect our skin too.

Yes, different seasons makes the year rich of different events although it is a bit more expensive because then you need to have clothes for all the seasons. But still, you are right it is an opportunity of different entertainments too. Often in winter I miss summer and in summer I miss winter :)
That's what makes the year active. For us we have principally two seasons so we don't get to enjoy the other seasons like you do although it falls in certain part of the year but what we experience maybe different from your area

Many children love all that accessories for winter like gloves, scarves and different types of hats, colours and shapes. Now it is winter approaching so we have to take all our winter stuff out of storage, very excited for winter :)
