TRAVELLOG #6: Switzerland in Canton Uri / Eggberge - Beautiful Mountains and Nature
Hello all,
and welcome to my sixth travellog in a row. With this post I would also like to continue introduce myself a bit more to the steemit community. As you already know my name is Markus. I love nature and peaceful people who are as they are and use their own head to think and not blindly follow every trend and cult. Somehow, I think we are all a bit brainwashed these days aiming not always the real important and precious things in life. Right now I'm somehow in the mid of my life span realizing even more that material things, status symbol and the price to pay for them in a daily routine are this definitely not. What I like most is to be creative and be away from all that noise and shoddy farce as far as possible. Despite all this I am a musician playing the drums in my spare time in two bands. There I like to make a lot of noise. But this is another story, maybe for a following post :-)
But for now back to the travellog. As already mentioned many times in previous posts my girlfriend Tina and I visited in September Switzerland for some days. This was during our vacation, on the way to Italy. We stopped over for a night in Eggberge in a small family pension with lovely owners. To enjoy the nature and silence in the mountains to calm down, go hiking
and also split our travel distance
to our second stop over at Valle Verzasca and the final destination in Italy.
Eggberge is a part of the village Altdorf in the canton of Uri in Switzerland. It is located above Altdorf on a south-west facing ground terrace below Rophaien (2078 m a.s.l.) and Schönschulm (2018 m a.s.l.) at the entrance to the Schaechental. The fun thing is, to go up there you have to use a cable car, whose valley station is located on the northern edge of the village of Altdorf. At the way up you have a very nice view at lake Luzern (Vierwaldstaetter-see). The lake has a very lovely turquoise color and a complex shape, including several sharp bends and four arms.
It starts in the south-north bound Reuss Valley between steep cliffs above the Urnersee from Flüelen towards Brunnen to the north before it makes a sharp bend to the west where it continues into the Gersauer Becken. Here is also the deepest point of the lake with 214 m (702 ft). The entire lake has a total area of 114 km² (44 sq mi) at an elevation of 434 m (1,424 ft) a.s.l. Its volume is 11.8 km³. Much of the shore-line rises steeply into mountains up to 1,500 m above the lake, resulting in many picturesque views including those of the mountains Rigi and Pilatus. When one arrives at the top you will be rewarded with a heavenly surround view.
This is how for my holidays should start :-)
after checking in the pension located at the cable car station we directly went out to shoot some photos and find our destination for this evening.
Tina would like to go up to the so called "flesch"lake (Fleschseeli, 1812 m a.s.l.)
which from the pension is a light hike of approximately 1 1/4 hours
and approximately 500 meters vertical rise.
But for us flatland rats :-) this was also though but also very much fun
we meet a lot of cowies (almost all very relaxed) and and cats and dogs on our way
in this calm and beautiful nature
with a lot of fresh air and no traffic noise at all.
We also passed a small forest
and further up again
finally we reached the small lake,
with a really really awesome mountain view,
and a nice small cafe to enjoy a beverage. On the way back to the hotel it got slowly dark.
Which leads to a very nice sunset
all the way down
with so lovely light and clouds in the sky
We really appreciated our first day and night of this years holidays here in Eggberge!
I hope you enjoyed this post,

Nice, i hope you will enjoy our nature in Switzerland.
I follow you @sniffbiff :)
Sure! Switzerland is really awesome. Thanks a lot!
We once had that kind of landscape at the back of our grandma's house and It spread along the village. Not that big land. But it was that beautiful and cowies too :). unfortunately, that landscape has worse change for some reason of careless and unwell-planning development impact :'(. seeing your picture bring back the memory to that place. I even can smell the grass in the morning when the dew is still hanging there. Fortunately, we still have "sawah (ricefield)" at the back of the house. It still beautiful, green and useful. Sometimes, you just amazed to new destructive things without noticing this. Thank you for the beautiful picture you gave us.
