Radioactive animals Part I: Radioactive dogs
Dozens of these radioactive puppies live in Chernobyl. Unfortunately you can not touch them.

These guys are outside the canteen power plant, 1500 yards or 1400 meters from reactor 4. Visitors are advised not to touch the animals in the exclusion zone, as they can carry radioactive particles in their skin.

Puppies sniffing and playing freely, dogs are not abundant in the exclusion zone, but they are grouped where food is found, such as the canteen and this small market.

The wildlife in Chernobyl has enjoyed a relatively free existence of humans. As a result, Chernobyl animals are not so afraid of people.

Great advances in decontamination have been made during the last 31 years. Most notably, a gigantic deck was placed over the reactor in November 2016.
