MakeMeSmile Week 4#: Robot making with recycled materials as enquiry-based learning
My boy has been learning different sorts of materials and their shapes, size, usage, and strength at school. We did a bit of home learning today in conjunction with his school's.
Why the learning makes me happy?
He came up with an idea of making a robot, and we sorted out shape and size of the robot. He was comfortable turning his creativity into action.
He proposed recycled materials. Teachers have taught him to love the world and environment. Recycling and reusing things can help us possibly save the world. So, we turned the house upside down, looked for useful materials and finally found some recycled boxes and paper for robot making.
He experimented and tried different possibilities before the final design > a smaller head (the tube) with a hat on top (the paper) and a boxy body (the box). He designed the hat and gave the robot some shade, weather is getting blazing hot in Hong Kong.
He reminded me to be careful when I was holding some scissors: Scissors are sharp, don't snip your fingers.
We had a fun-filled afternoon working together as a team.
