Norwegian Landscape - The spirit of the North (Nord) - Gallery
Hello Friends!
This will be very special gallery for me - beacuse I simply love the mood, landscape, the light and dynamic sea on these shots! Personally it was one of the best sessions I made during last photographic workshops on Lofoten islands.
Very short description of the location.
The sea bay is called Flakstadpollen, we stop by there on the way to other great locations - Vik and HAukland beaches.
It was unexpected because minutes earlier we were crossing big snow storm.
After the sun brake through the clouds, it gave this magical light and fantastic effects in the snowy and hazy air.
It was windy so the waves were big... just another stormy winter day on Lofoten...
We park our cars on a parking place, very near the sea coast. we had about 100m walk to the water position. Fast session to catch the light, people just run forward to reach the nearest location, I had slightly other idea , to go more to the right side of the shore and catch all those people together with fantastic mountain range in background.
I was really surprised when I saw that between my location and the people was great spot were the waves were hitting really hard making big "splash" !
I was shooting from hand held camera so not every shot was sharp - I had to use little longer exposure time to blur the splashing water in a nice lines. Shooting towards the sun is also quite tricky, sometimes it is imposible to avoid flares from the sun, I was trying to place the sun somewhere on the edge of a frame to minimize the overburn area of the sky.
For these shots I used my 24-105mm lens, shooting on full zoom made the scene looks really "tight" and it looks like the waves are crushing by directly next to the photographers, in fact there was about 20-30 meters closer.
These scenes and this moment will stay in my memory for a lifetime!
One of the best experiences that day and that whole workshops.
This is the real spirit of the north - wind, water and air, high mountains, changing weather, extreme conditions, dramatic shoreline, after all of that I love Lofoten Islands even more!
