Cycling Worldtour: Omloop Het Nieuwsblad
Next weekend the cycling season kicks off in Europe, Saturday 24th february the peloton will be ready for the start of the Flemish Classics: the Omloop Het Nieuwsblad.
The race takes the peloton over the old route of the Tour of Flanders, with also the majestic Muur van Geraardsbergen.
The winner of the last two editions, Greg van Avermaet, will defend his title. He will have to defeat his fellow countrymen Philippe Gilbert (Tour of Flanders '17, among many other races) and Tim Wellens, the winner of the Ruta del Sol just last week. World champion Peter Sagan, who finished two times second, won't participate this year.
