Don't Come Back

IMG_9734.JPG

Broken window panes,
rain falling inside,
midnight rants ending
up on a page, now crumpled.

Long days,
chaotically silent nights,
empty bedrooms,
tiny specks of light
falling on your bed from outside,
perfectly made beds lying untouched,
eyeliners covering the puffy eyes,
missed calls on the phone.

Lyrics of songs,
old photographs
hanging in your room,
beautiful evenings,
coffee dates,
petrichor,
long drives,
watching the sunset.
Memories.
Holding on to you like roots of a tree.

But you don't miss them, do you?
The different smiles they had,
biting nails when they felt nervous,
dragging their feet while walking,
singing softly under their breath,
looking into your eyes,
waiting for answers you could never give.

Remembering days.
Minutes,moments.
It's like a ticking bomb.
All set to explode your mind
with the minutest of things.
So don't come back.
Because if you do,
I'll believe that you want to stay.
Again.

VEry well written!! You always do a good job :)
keep it up

Nice poem, again. You captured how I often felt as a seventeen year old. Hanging lyrics on my wall old photographs with friends I didn't really miss but only put on there because it was the only familiar thing I could wake up to after moving to a new city.
