What is a successful post?

in #steem6 years ago

I meant to do this video as a vlog, but recording at night is not that fun. That being said, I kind of think that for this particular subject this probably made more sense, probably.

At any rate, let me know your thoughts on this subject, specially if you feel engagement is down. I've seen quite a few comments on that observation.

Much love

@meno

You got voted by @curationkiwi thanks to Princess! This bot is managed by Kiwibot and run by Rishi556, you can check both of them out there. To receive maximum rewards, you must be a member of KiwiBot. To receive free upvotes for yourself (even if you are not a member) you can join the KiwiBot Discord linked here and use the command !upvote (post name) in #curationkiwi.

Thank very much guys!! I just so happen to like Kiwis in general... the fruit, the bird, and the people who are affectionately referred to as kiwis... all good

Thank you for your support!! <3

hehe @yidneth: does this conversation about looking at the comments number more than the $ number sounds familiar to you? ;)

Meno: I agree. I have always been telling this to Pris too, and listening to you here was like listening to myself hehe nice.

To help not focus on the $ number.... :
Install Stylish extension and the "no price" plugin: https://userstyles.org/styles/130424/no-prices
This hides the ".FormattedAsset" css class and you can focus more on the comments number ;)

Loved your "digging for gold" analogy! It would be awesome if there were a way to view comments without seeing any auto or bot replies. Nobody wants to feel like they're in a room with a bunch of robots.

A lot of people that overuse bots end up with just that... spammy comments and bot comments.

would love to throw a post up and get 100 comments. as much as people don’t believe this i’d rather have 100 comments instead of 100....right now. lol

i’m no idiot. of course i would love to fat whale upvotes. but i’m more after the audience and attention of people for the long term.

engagement is key!! and if i can engage with people who write comments on my post hopefully they stick with me! long term.

the upvotes and big mollah will come. when you focus on the people first.

TROOOOOOF!!!!!

hahahah i feel like slamming a table in approval!

Engagement is down, and it is very discouraging when the engagement that is there has little to know impact on posts at all. My upvotes don’t matter at all now. Successful posts now, are those that catch the attention of whale accounts.

what about long term though? if you build enough audience... it's a compounding effect grant you, and it takes a lot of work and consistency.

Very difficult to do if you are not posting about popular topics (like crypto). Niche content is hard to build on here. Also has to be worth the effort for people to want to continuing posting into the abyss without actual engagement. Found it was much easier to build on youtube and instagram then on here, and i feel like it has only gotten harder with time and recent changes made. Entry point is set very high in my opinion. There is not much of an audience yet for weird animal content for example (or at least i do not know where to find them).

good point... well, it has to do with the amount of users we have... that being said, i dont think philosophy is mainstream, and i do quite a bit of it. I just don't think about it...

For me a successful post is one which adds value to the people that read it. It goes beyond the 7 day reward system thingy. I've read through post that were done 2 years ago and they inspired me, I learnt a great deal from reading it, it may not have bank rolled the author but it has turned the life of many around. I guess in life it's doesn't matter so much about what we get but what we give, I guess that is what is important.

The post may not pay you so much but made many to start following you and it made subsequent post rewarding.

good points, i happen to agree with that too... ive found some great old posts that have made me find new authors...

I try to comment something meaningful on every post I watch or read. So congratulations I watched this video and I agree completely. Engagement is of utmost importance.

100% and the owner of the blog can set the culture a bit, right? I think so at least... if a new user bumps into this very video and sees us conversing, and what not... He or she will go... OH, that's how you do it.. BOOM we got people engaging the positive behaviors.

Yeah, I've been getting somewhat frustrated because I really want people to converse with but sometimes I feel like I'm the only one going around and talking to people.

oh man... it takes a while, the trick is to not give up...

remember, your vibe attracts your tribe

I am who I am and I'll never give up on this. I have so much content to produce that my content has content but the main thing is that I could talk forever so no way of shutting up my yapper.

I agree with you and have the same thought on my posts. I try to end my posts with questions and asking for feedback. Unfortunately, it has not been as successful as I would like despite me given much higher upvote to those that comment on my posts than the posts I read on my feed as I try to incentivize user to come and engage on my posts. I continue to get involved in more communities in the hope that I can get the attention and engagement to share and get feedback on how to continue to improve.

its a slow way up... and the other thing... everyone gets a flop... i try not to be too hard on myself when I do, but i still get flops... no one is hitting home runs all the time.

You got me with the alien pic! I wasnt dissapointed that there was no UFO talk tho...

This is some good information and ideas. I have a hard time knowing what to say sometimes. Its unnatural to me to backspace and redo. Guess I should do more videos. Ill try some of the things you mentioned!

ahhh that's my friend @soundwavesphoton

On the whole video thing... I never overthink them, I just go... that's also a trick... allow yourself to be flawed... because f it...

Go for it brother, have fun
