Intro to Steemit And the Do's and Don't. (For Potential users and new users)

in #steemit7 years ago

We are in a very advanced generation. We have moved ahead of Facebook generation. We are in the BlockChain generation. Steemit is a great example.

What is Steemit?

Quite simply, steemit is a blockchain based blogging platform which rewards you for what you do. Means you can post what you want, comment and Upvote (Like) the post and get paid. Sounds fascinating right. The platform completed one year recently. And there was a lot of hard work put in by the devs.
It is like all the other social media websites, but the only difference is that this platform pays you for your work.

Posting

You are free to post anything you wish, and anytime you want. There's no word limit. You can write about your favourite thing, or run a contest on the platform. Your post should not be explicit content.

Curating and upvoting

Curating here refers to users who help the post gain visibility or get it interactive. A curator is one who upvotes or comments on your post. There are certain curators whose upvote can earn you more and also gain your post visibility.
The Curators get 25% of the total rewards generated from the post. (But this is subjected to the time of curating.)

The curation reward works as following.

  • Upvoting the post within 10 mins gives 100% of the curation reward to the author.
  • Upvoting after 10 mins and within 15 mins gives you 10% of the rewards generated and 90% to the author.
  • Upvoting after 15 mins and before 20 mins gives you 50% of the reward and 50% to the author.
  • Upvoting after 20 mins and within 30 mins gives you 90% of the rewards and 10% to the author.
  • Upvoting after 30 mins gives you 100% of the curation rewards.
Note: These figures are subjected to 25% of the curation rewards broken down to the time value.
They are also affected by the value of Steem Power, will be explained later. (If a whale was to upvote, he'd get the maximum reward.)

Currencies within Steemit:

There are 2 types of currencies used in Steemit. One is the Steem and other is the Steem Backed Dollars. They can be bought in exchanges like Bittrex etc. Or they can be claimed from your rewards. You receive 50% of steem backed dollars and 50% steem power which is set by default. The SBD can be exchanged internally in steemit market for Steem. The Steem can further be used for Steem Power. They all can be accessed in your wallet.

Steem Power:

Steem power is the total number of steem locked up as power. This gives you an upper head in the community. The more the steem power you hold, the higher the value of you upvote and the higher curation rewards you'll receive. The steem power can be bought using steem. The withdrawal of steem power takes 13 weeks, that is about 3 months. This is done to stop excess supply at the time and bring about stability in the steem prices.
You can also get yourself some steem power delegated by your friend or anyone who wishes to delegate you a certain amount of Steem power. The delegation does not make you the owner of the power but it's like a loan given to you.

The Do's

  • Post great contents and if possible, post them daily.
  • Comment on peoples posts to gain more visibility
  • Make friends as they will help you in the later stage.
  • Prefer to get more steem power as it is beneficial on a long run
  • Join contest and get some rewards
  • Join helpful communities
  • Be helpful the community.

Dont's

  • Don't spam your comments
  • Don't copy and post contents
  • Don't post explicit contents that may harm a certain group of community.
  • Don't swear in the community

Services in steemit to help you grow.

To handle the abuses and Plagiarism

There are certain people who look after users who abuse the network by either plagiarising or abusing certain users. For plagiarism, there is a bot that is triggered if you copy pasted a post. Cheetah looks after that. Also, there are steemcleaners who come into action if there were repeated plagiarism and abuse in the community. Asa new general steemit user you are advised not to do any of those.

I confess, as I did that in my Initial days and was not aware of this. My apologies to the community.

This is really good information for newer steemit users. Thanks for helping out the new people!

You are welcome. 😉

great to see you finally admit your wrongdoing,
to say you didn't realize is laughable,
your posts were cheetahed multiple times and you commented on posts which discussed this with one at your very beginning which had the steemcleaners comment explaining plagiarism and copy/paste posts

anyways you say your sorry, thats great :)
will you demonstrate this by donating your ill-gotten gains of SBD/STEEM($116.33) back to the community(not your friends or groups your associated with )

If you check by my contests. Which was not a part of whaleshares at first, all my earnings went there. I have funded my earnings into contests.

that makes no sense,
you didn't fund any contests,
you kept most earnings from copy/pasted plagiarized posts
please stop the lies
here your transfers show you kept most >

Steemreports

Before you make a hasty generalisation, please show the people the entre report. Not just half face of it to prove that I didn't give back to the community. http://www.steemreports.com/transfers-ledger/?account=%40manishmike10.

And I will continue to give back the the community.

Stop your lies trying to cover up your stealing, you gave nothing to the community from your plagiarism copy/paste only lies

I withdrawn $77 so far. And most of my earnings also were from my contests and original contents. I see that you seem to be jealous or maybe have a haterate towards me for some reason. Those $77 will be given back to the community.

I appreciate your work man!
Live long.

I don't follow my past. And I learn from my past mistakes.
The community will see if I have helped a bit or no.. so I am ignoring you from now.

no problem is i hate these lies you try to put forward to defend you plagiarism trying to say im jealous of a lazy plagiarist lying scumbag here are the posts and payouts

These are great tips for Steemit, thanks! I had no idea about the posts upvoted within the first 10 min receive 100 to author And the difference between 15 and 30 minutes. Thanks for the info. And advice! 😎

Thank you, glad I was able to help 😋

Hey @manishmike10

Thanks for explaining curation reward system. I was confused about it and I knew we earn nothing when we upvote old posts.

After 30 mins to 2 hours, you'll earn 100%. But that depends on if other votes come after you upvote.

Good Information. I consider Steemit the FaceBook Killer and I am hoping DTube will continue to get refinement and start knocking out Youtube. I have pretty much abandoned FakeBook and am weening myself away from Twitter with the exception of tweeting post like this into my timeline.

The Blockchain embraces individuals and not the matrix, it represents freedom from censorship. I only wish I had starting posting in March when I first joined. Anyway thanks for he Steemit Evangelism.
