Proposition: Weekly Homesteading Newsletter
Recently I’ve been seeing a lot of activity on Steemit from homesteaders. I’m not sure if that is just because I’ve tailor-made my feed to suit my interests or if there is growing support for Steemit homesteaders, but I’d like to think that the community is on the rise!
One of the most recent articles I stumbled across was a list, created by @pennsif, of multiple Preppers & Homesteaders on Steemit. As I browsed through the list of names and glanced at multiple profiles, I was amazed to see how many enthusiastic members of the community there are. I sense a palpable energy within this area of Steemit - an increase of interest, an energetic desire to support one another, and the desire to come together and do something great!
I believe we can do our best work together with the sharing of ideas, advice, stories, and connections… and the Steemit platform is the perfect setting.
So as I follow the stories of others with similar interests, I consider how I can add value to this community. Yes, writing articles is one of the main ways to support the movement and I post as often as I can. But I’d like to incorporate the ideas, the excitement, and the energy into one location! I want to support others with the same values that I believe in.
I’d like to hear the communities opinion about an idea of mine - What do you think of a Weekly Homesteading Newsletter (WHN)? This newsletter would be a lengthy article posted once per week that contains stories, photos, and advice from varying homesteader / prepper Steemit accounts, with photos and links directly to the original articles! This way, we could all share our successes (and challenges) more easily while better supporting one another!
I’m excited to see what we can accomplish when “Homesteaders Unite on Steemit!”

Great idea, @kiaraantonoviche! I've been thinking similar things: Yes, following a bunch of homesteaders (like on @pennsif's list) got me a lot more articles related to homesteading... but also other ones, with completely different topics, not to mention the ocean of resteemed articles. Not that it's a bad thing, I like to keep my feed diverse, but it would be great to have something... like a magazine or a newsletter you mentioned. Nothing pre-digested, just collected, with links to the actual articles.
I'm glad you think a magazine/newsletter is a good idea! And yes it will simply be a collection/exposition without personal opinion or reflection really!
Great idea. Getting the best out of the vast number of relevant posts here is a difficult task. Anything that helps will be all for the better.
It is going to be challenging and I'm not sure I will be able to find "the best of the best," but I will at least be able to (hopefully) bring awareness to a multitude of authors!
Love the idea of a weekly news letter and yes tailoring your feed is helpful for just what you chosen to be interested in. I would join and be a part of it. These type things are right up my alley! Look forward to it! Enjoyed!
Wonderful, I'm glad to hear it! I will definitely need help finding quality material to add to the newsletter each week so submissions/recommendations would be awesome! I'm thinking of releasing the article each Sunday, so anything Sunday to Sunday would be fair game!
Sounds good. I've actually commented to some of the channels I've watched on youtube that are involved with gardening and homesteading letting them know of steemit and the community here hoping that they'll convert or at least join.
I'm really seeing lots of people willing to read, post and discuss homesteading topics. I guess a weekly newsletter would be awesome. That's a great idea. As a side effect I believe homesteading authors will be honored to show up in the newsletter improving overall post quality and also adding some sort of visibility to the community. Thanks for this brilliant idea. I'm looking forward to have that newsletter.

Great idea. Over time, I could see value in chronicling the best of by subject, though that might be tricky. ie. on the subject of chickens, gardening, fruit trees, pests, etc.
That's a really good idea! Though I can definitely see the challenge... for now, I am thinking of including different sections in the newsletter like "DIY Tutorials" and "Recipes."
I really think that's a great idea and I'm looking forward to following it along!

Awesome, I'm glad you think it is a good idea! And of course! "100% Steem power up blog" means that 100% of the Steem reward my blog articles receive will be powered up into Steem Power (in order to increase our overall standing and invest back into Steemit). Currently, I also convert 100% of the SBD rewards into Steem and power up that as well, but this will only continue until the account reaches 1000 SP (we are at 500+ right now). Once we reach this goal, then the SBD will be used towards projects at Wild Rose Acres. I may also change the 100% Steem power up feature in the future (perhaps to 50%) if we need additional funding for projects at the homestead! I just wanted people to know that I am investing back into Steemit instead of cashing out all the rewards! Hope this helps!
That's a great idea! I am going to put most of my first earnings into steam power as well. But this is also my first ever experience with cryptocurrencies and I plan to play with a little bit in each of the categories, like savings, and such.
My monies will be going toward the homestead as well. :D
