Ronaldo looks forward to another CL glory
Cristiano Ronaldo said on Monday that he is "unlike" other players of his age who pull for mega-money deals to China or Qatar. During an official revelation as a Juventus player, he said he wanted to help bring the Champions League success to the club.
After the World Cup, European superstar attacker Real Madrid's € 100m attack has thrown all eyes on the Italian champions and Serie A, and Ronaldo said he was not "here on vacation."
"I'm different than other players who think their career is over when they're my age," said the 33-year-old Portuguese captain. "I want to show that I'm not like the others, I'm different.
"Players my age are going to China or Qatar, so at this stage of my career I'm coming to such an important club that I'm very pleased."
The fivefold Ballon d'Or winner was his usual self-confidence at a press conference, most of which took place in Juve's most recent Portuguese alliance stadium and was attended by media from around the world. He said he had "nothing" to prove to everyone ".
"The numbers are there, everyone knows what I've done for football, but I'm ambitious and I like challenges," he said.
"I did not want to stay in my comfort zone, as I did for Manchester and Real Madrid, and I want to leave my mark on Juve."
Italian champions Juventus have signed the superstar attacker, who is taking a four-year deal worth € 30m per season in the hope that he will lead them to a coveted Champions League title, the holy grail of the continent becomes.
The old lady of Italian football, prepared to claim the title in Serie A in the eighth season, has struggled to make European trophies out of domestic dominance.
Juve has not won the competition since 1996, but was beaten in 2015 and 2017 and beaten by Barcelona and Ronaldo's former club. Ronaldo has scored more goals than anyone with 120 goals and has won four of their last five games with Real Madrid.
"We will not only fight for the Champions League but also for Serie A and the other trophies," he said. "I have to work hard because the Champions League is not easy to win, I hope I can help."
Ronaldo spoke with the media after a busy day in Turin, which began with a warm welcome from Juve fans before the medical treatment on Monday morning.
Hundreds of fans gathered in front of the Allianz Stadium in Turin and sang "Ronaldo, bring us the champions [League]" as he emerged from the club's medical center to sign autographs and shake hands amidst noisy chants.
"It was a breathtaking moment to be so welcomed," said Ronaldo.
"It increases the motivation to start work, I hope I can reward you."
I think he can win the title with Juve
