Macrophotography - starting over

After adding the extension tubes to the camera, things have completely changed. I bought the extension tubes with contact pins. These are a little more expensive but are worth their price. Without the contact pins you lose communication between the camera body and the lens. I already experienced that with the reverse-lens method, and didn't like it too much.

I found some articles saying you should buy the reverse-lense adapter with the aperture ring in it, which sounds like a great plan, but I couldn't find any.

Back to the extended lens. The images are great, so close. Depth of field is a problem, of course, as always with macrophotography. So that is something to get a hang of by trial and error.

One more problem had to be solved, not to move the camera between shots. Or even before the picture is taken. It seemed tackled by using the selftimer. That partially worked. I live in a house with wooden floors. When I move around, the tripod moves, which means the camera moves as well.

Time to look into the feature of remotely controlling the camera. Now my setup has changed from me behind the camera to me behind the computer having the camera do what it is good at, at a safe distance. All that was needed was a long USB cord and some software. The camera settings can be controlled using the computer too. A big plus is having a large preview screen, this makes it easier to decide where to put the focus. Another thing is the absence of having to transfer images from the camera to the computer for post processing. The images you take are automatically saved on the computer.

I will share more images soon.

Nice article,

It would be even better if you showed the whole setup, maybe by taking pictures of it with your Phone?

Fantastic result anyway!

Thanks. The extension rings make macrophotography even more fun than it already was.
I will add those images in a future post, I can see how that would make it even more interesting.

Nice, I am looking forward to it!
