A Year Ago, One Sunset at a Time

in #life9 years ago (edited)

Greetings Steemit,

I've had a slew of reminders recently that as of 1 year ago, I was eagerly entrenched in the hobby of Quadcopter photography. It was pretty standard that if the weather permitted - I would be standing outside at some point trying to capture any cloud/storm/sky/sunset/sunrise/firework event I could see.

Sadly this year my bird sits grounded & needing camera repair. Its a minor setback I plan to correct soon, but as I look at the window these temperate evenings - I'm left feeling like I'm really missing out on these beautiful late Spring Missouri Sunsets.. as for yet some unknown discovered reason, I feel absolutely compelled and drawn to 'capture' them on camera.

So I'll have to settle for whatever view was seen last year, which marginally scratches the proverbial itch for now. Thankfully I'm an organized person who developed an early habit of dating my videos as I transferred the files.

Here's a sunset that I noticed when looking a few days ago, shot 1 year back from that date. The goal in any sunset video I shoot is to capture the Sun in that 'pinpoint' moment as it crests the horizon. I can tell seeing it a year later that its an early video of mine, and think I've refined my skill set for the craft a little better since then. I guess until the camera is repaired, you all may see a few more of these 'trip down memory lane' posts in the future.. cuz, you know.. that's just how I roll.

Launched from the field behind my apartment, shot 395ft up using a Blade Chroma Quad & CGO2+ camera. May 13th, 2016
