Red Scarf - 5 minute freewrite

in #freewrite6 years ago (edited)

Natalie tapped her forehead against the chilly window pane. She gripped her purse in one hand and her favorite red scarf in the other. Although her favorite red scarf wasn't supposed to be red at all. She had carelessly spilt red paint all over it the previous day after coming home from work. But it was her only true comfort, and she would take it with her anyway.

She turned to the clock, only five minutes until she had to leave if she was going to make it on time to the small cafe where she was meeting her blind date. It was already feeling like regret, but what did she have to lose? She glanced down again at the scarf and debated if it gave the right impression. Again, what she have to lose. At least now he would see the real her, right away, she was no novelty.

My very first 5 minute freewrite. Hope you have as much fun reading it as I did creating it! #freewrite

"she was no novelty"

I really like that line, good job! Welcome to the freewrite 👍

Great first attempt. I love the idea of this. Might have a go myself in the New Year. Thanks for inspiring me!

Thank you! You should definitely try...new prompts everyday so maybe you don't need to wait...it only takes 5 minutes 😉

It's not the writing so much as the posting that takes the time. Keeping up with comments and making a couple of other posts a day is taking way more time that I have. Until I get faster at that I can't see me fitting anything new in. But I like the idea. :-(

Sorry I just saw this...finding replies is trickier than I thought!

I understand! We currently don't have internet access except for the smartphone my husband and I share. So everything takes so much time. I laughed when I told you 5 minutes because maybe if I were on a desktop it would be only 5 minutes, but that prompt took me an hour! I tried once on the phone, then typed it (timed) on the computer. I then spent the next 45 or so minutes trying get to get it electronically to the phone. I finally just typed it in 😂

I'd have no chance at all on a phone. Well done for persevering! 🌟

Thank you! Hopefully I can persevere again and get another prompt out there!
