Kids And Creativity for MarketFriday

in #marketfriday6 years ago

Today Friday again, I mean #MarketFriday, hosted by my dear friend Denise, @dswigle.

This post is going to be a little bit different than the others, but it's going to be fun, I promise.

Yesterday, roaming around the shopping mall, I spotted some cute and funny Christmas trees and what was odd, they all had an A4 format tag on them. Christmas trees don't have tags usually, so I was curious to see what was that about. When I got closer I could see the name of a couple of kindergartens and elementary schools, which made me realize that the decorations were made by kids.

Look at this Christmas tree. How does it look to you? To me it looks perfectly fine, there's nothing wrong with it. So let's go closer and have a look at the ornaments.

Look at this ornament. It's made of cotton swabs and and a foam ball. The cotton swabs are cut in half, stuck in a foam ball, then the edges are painted. It's not difficult, it looks good and it's handmade, which is the most important thing.

Next there's this star, made of wooden sticks, just glued together. You can buy these wooden sticks at a cheap price, it's not a problem.

These pine-cones could be bought or collected from the woods, I can't be sure but they look nice with that little golden ribbons attached.

This is another Christmas tree decorated by a different kindergarten, so let's have a closer look.

I'm not sure if this is Santa Claus or a snowman, but it's cute. It's made of yarn and som red fabric.

This on the other hand is a snowman, I'm pretty sure of that :) It's made of cotton pads used for make-up removal, some cotton wool and it's painted.

Here's another one, this looks better, has a red hear :)

A little angel made of yarn and some lace like coaster. I find this very creative, very cute.

Some Christmas hats that require more attention and knowledge.

Here's Santa's reindeer, made of paper and above a paper chain also handmade.

Another ornament made of paper. This is actually very easy, you just fold the paper and cut its corners and voila, you have a nice ornament.

sskir7wgm0.jpg

This is my favorite so far, I used to make this type of ornament when I was a kid, it's very easy and looks good.

This is another way of using wooden sticks for making an ornament. it's painted in red and a bit of cotton wool is applied to the edges. Below you can see some paper hearts.

Another cute angel made of paper and cotton pads for make-up removal.

A red star cut out of fabric and a little silver ribbon applied.

I think this should be a reindeer, but I'm not sure.

This looks professional already :) That star made of cardboard is amazing, and next to it it's the little angel made of lace paper coaster.

p7mxf17wsc.jpg

If you look at it, it's not a big deal, it's very easy to make it. Just fold the paper, apply a little glue, attach the head and it's done.

This is actually a decoration I would happily buy for my Christmas tree. it's original and very cute. A cinnamon bar attached to a cardboard along with a peanut.

Another one with cinnamon and hazelnut.

Have you ever seen such Christmas decorations on a Christmas tree? I haven't, but I like it. Imagine how much fun these kids must have had preparing this wonderful pieces.

These decorations were not for sale, so I'm braking a rule a bit but I'm going to post a flower that was for sale, so I hope Denise can forgive me :)

The whole time I was thinking of those little kids who were working hard to do these wonderful decorations. imagine a five year old knowing that hi/her work will be displayed at the biggest shopping mall of the city. I don't know who's idea was this expo, but it is a brilliant one.

Nowadays it's easy to buy everything, you can order a Christmas tree, fully decorated.

I remember my grandmother telling us stories from the time she was young, they were poor and had to make the decorations themselves. They painted walnuts with silver and gold colored paint and hung them on the Christmas tree. There were no fondant or Christmas candy, they were hanging homemade cookies on the tree and I bet there was no money for fancy presents either. And still, they knew how to make a Christmas wonderful.

We should never forget how life was one, when there were no supermarkets and fancy gifts, we should teach kids to do their own Christmas decorations, I'm pretty sure it's a lot of fun and joy. They can appreciate it more and can be proud they have contributed too.

After taking these photos, which are not of the best quality, my apologies, I headed to the decorations section full of wonderful decorations, but these handmade decorations stole my heart.

And here it is, a flower, always a flower as Denise always say :)

Wow! This was such a wonderful post, Erika! @erikah

I think that I have over half of those ornaments on my tree!! My kids have always made ornaments and when they got a little older, made ones out of clay.

Of course, I like the looks of the glitter and pretties, but, it will never, ever replace the love that is put into a handmade, homemade Christmas, ever! I love the one with the Q-tips! I have never seen that one, but I have lots of popsicle sticks with tissue paper that look like stain glass windows.

I love the paper chains and remember doing miles of those when I was a kid. Stringing popcorn and cranberries on the tree too. I absolutely love your post, it was so very special and made my heart so happy to see the love that went into Christmas post. Love like that cannot be bought at any price. That is why we have a tree here at home that is full of homemade love. I wouldn't have it any other way. (that is why I have more than one tree! )

Thank you so much for the beautiful orchids and for your wonderful participation in #MarketFriday!

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Lovely and supportive as always! I knew you would like it.

Stringing popcorn and cranberries on the tree too.

Cranberries I've seen on Christmas wreaths but have never had one. Popcorn on the other hand ... that's a total mystery to me. Does that have a meaning? Maybe symbolizes the crop? I don't know.

Akkor én szerencsés vagyok, mindig is megtaláltam az ilyeneknek a helyét :)

🎁 Hi @erikah! You have received 0.1 STEEM tip from @dswigle!

These decorations are so beautiful. I can imagine the little hands that made them. I'm wondering if somwone will keep them for next years. It would be a shame to toss these little pieces of art. 🙂

I knew you would understand the deep meaning of it! I guess they are going to collect them and take them back to the kindergartens or schools that came from.

I really hope they will do that. I bought some handmade decorations few years ago. They were made by some poor kids and I just had to buy them. I still have these items although I don't use them. They are made of paper and other sensitive materials. I don't want to break them or something. 🙂

Many orphanages do that and sell them at Christmas markets. I'm pretty sure these are going to go back to the kids.

Christmas is here again.
