This week's theme

The Hieorphant Rx = breaking w/ tradition, doing things your way, not "just following the rules," blazing your own trail & living your own truth

The archetype of The Heirophant is dedicated to maintaining to social order, enforcing rules & regulations, keeping life stable, predictable & on an even keel. In some ways there's a very bureaucratic feel to him -- stodgy, unimaginative, wrapped up in his own importance & authority. In some Tarot decks, this card is titled The Pope -- & it carries that unmistakable stamp of religious authority from which there is almost no appeal.

"God said this is how it's going to be. He said to do this. Now I'm telling you. So STFU." ---> kind of encapsulates the attitude of The Hierophant. I have a hard time liking him. He's very stubborn & set in his ways -- but he does keep life from being chaotic. That comes at a high cost, however, & it's a hard one for me to swallow. Being a happy little cog in a wheel & just "keeping your head down & doing as you're told" -- never appealed to me.

Well, as you can imagine, The Hierophant Rx throws this pleasant & orderly routine right out the window. He is defiantly himself. He doesn't give a sh^t about tradition or convenience. He's not content to just stay in a rut & be invisible. He wants to make some noise, shake people out of their complacency & maybe blow up a few things. He's a rebel (with or without a cause), but he's sure nobody's Yes-man.

He is proud of himself. He understands his own value. He's not afraid to make waves -- & he understand that change is often upsetting & uncomfortable. But ... since he's upset & uncomfortable already, it's a matter of "choose your poison" in his eyes -- & he wants to at least move in a direction that suits him. By remaining in place, he realizes that the discomfort is familiar ... but it's virtually destined to continue.

By causing some disruption, he hopes to change that. At least he's going to try. That's the theme we're working with this week. Like the Chief in One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest ... it's time to exercise your own strength, take your life in your hands & bust out of this place.

("This place" is whatever is confining you & keeping you locked in misery. It will be different for everyone -- so have a look around. What is that in your life? And what's your next step now that you've identified it?)

God, I love The Tarot!!

This week's personal issue

Knight of Rods = being focused on who you really are, demonstrating that in no uncertain terms, being authentic & brave, following your own path w/ courage & determination, providing a kind of "mid-level leadership" others can use

As I've written before, a Knight is a man on a mission. He's not a master of the game yet, but he's no beginner either. He's still very much occupied with his own development & education -- in this case, learning how to gain & exercise power wisely & use the strength of his own charisma to advance his goals.

The KtR is honest, genuine, enterprising & wrapped in the courage of his own convictions. He knows who he is & what he stands for. He's making progress in ways that matter to him -- & he's ready to do whatever Life asks of him in creating the changes he sees are necessary, reaching goals that have value & merit & shaping the world according to his own vision. He's effective & he is not bashful.

This Inner Self exists in you. He's strong, he's confident & he's ready to rock. Get acquainted if you don't have immediate access to his strength & resolve. Determine what he has in mind, how the two of you can work as a team, how you can help each other advance -- & get cracking!

This week's emotional issue

7 of Cups = considering a wide range of creative options, dreaming & visualizing, using your imagination to find a new & inspiring direction, working w/ choices & untapped potential, exploring an extensive range of "possibilities"

One danger w/ the 7C is you can get lost in the "dreaming & dithering" phase of creative production. It's lovely roaming around the playground of your own mind, but eventually -- for anything to happen -- you do have to make some decisions, set your intentions & act on them. "Wishing & hoping" can easily turn into inertia -- & chasing your own tail because it's all so pleasant.

Pushed too far, this card becomes an energy of escapism, "living in a dream world" ... & even dealing w/ addiction. No good comes of that ... & no progress either. Use its power as intended -- as a wellspring of inspiration & creative vision. Don't just get lost in it.

This week's intellectual issue

King of Swords = displaying impressive knowledge & intellectual prowess, showing off what you know -- in ways others can relate to & use, making your point, communicating clearly w/ grace & confidence, knowing what you're talking about, having things to say -- & teach, taking the lead in the ongoing social / public conversation --->

Oh, man, this guy is a powerhouse of wisdom & learning -- The Master of the Game in his intellectual field ... an outstanding authority & specialist based on his experience, education & knowledge. He knows how to get things done, how to get his points across, how to be an intellectual inspiration & how the mind creates reality.

He's a champion of this game. In crafting a message you want to deliver, in telling the world what you think & what you want it to know, in becoming a teacher w/ impressive wisdom to impart, there is no finer ally.

As w/ the KtR, find this Inner Self wherever he resides in you. He, too, is aligned, empowered & ready to work. Step up. Form a team. Get on the same side. Talk to each other. Get started. Make it happen.

This week's practical issue

2 of Pentacles = balancing resources & using them wisely, being practical & financially stable, "keeping all the balls in the air," "making it," being sensible, managing your health & physical / material assets

The 2P is about being able to take care of yourself in physical, material & monetary ways. It's certainly not a card of wealth (It's really low in the pecking order so far. It's only 2 energy, after all.) but it's a heck of a lot better than many alternatives.

It doesn't afford you much wiggle-room for waste, luxury or self-indulgence. But what you have is solid. You can count on it. You can build from here. You can take care of yourself -- & you're able to manage.

It's not necessarily where you want to stay, but it'll do for the time being. Find this temporary island in the stream -- & occupy it. If you're not there already -- or if it's not clearly in sight, this week, life will show you how to get there. Hold this vision. Make it your target.
