So hushed was the quiet this morning; I believed I heard the echo of the dew dropping. I close my eyes, hoping it would go on for a moment or three. Perhaps. Perhaps. Perhaps.
I visited a childhood friend a few days ago, we get together now and again, trading horse stories and helpful hints. We have a great known each other since we were three years old. I met her in a sandbox, right in her back yard. I probably crawled over the stone wall that divided our properties when I saw her out there. I had been only a couple of hours that we have moved into our new house.
We decided to go for a walk, to enjoy the last of the summer's beauty. The next time we see each other, we lamented, it would be brilliantly colored or perhaps a dusting of snow. I love that she lives near a cover bridge. This is Burkholder Bridge, a covered bridge that was built in 1870 over Buffalo Creek in Somerset County, Pennsylvania. Pennsylvania is really not far at all from Washington, DC. Either that or we have become used to the back and forth.

We are going now! Let's start here, in the beauty of the field, where the pond is singing the song of the fountain and Mother Nature stands waiting.
The whispered words between the space
Embrace the wings of words unsaid
Not long enough and you were gone
My heart lay watching, from afar
No haste
To say goodbye
Secret intentions to part with grace
Vanishing yet, to another place
Leaving the words behind
The beauty of the butterfly. I often think of their journey and how instinct directs them to the right spot. What if something changes along the way? Will it mess up their internal GPS? Does it? Does it? And if it doesn't, why not? Mine will throw me under the bus for less than that. I always stroke her gently and tell her kindness counts. If she is anything like Alexa, she bloody well heard me.
I cross over the fence and fields wandering about. I never want to miss anything, so, my eyes are always traveling! Look up to the sky! Just in case the clouds were pretty. I love the white puffy clouds. The fields are thinking about pushing out some seeds, casting their offspring into the wind. It is almost that time. I look over the vast loveliness once more and turn to make the way back.
Here I stand in the disenchanted field, watching as the summer passes by me. Now I must think about going home to hunt and gather the seeds as they make themselves available. Sort of makes me feel like a warrior.
A flower. There must always be a flower, to color my world. I want to thank @Kalemandra for the daily #ColorChallenge.
Do your thoughts run wild, do you think too much, if the sun comes out and brightens the day? Does it really matter, those inconsequential pieces of wrong logic running through your head? if you can close your eyes and imagine warm thoughts as you walk through life? Does it matter? Truly, does it? Oh, this is something that runs through my head, now and again, now and again.
She talks, I listen as we jump from one subject to another, never mind one has nothing to do with the other. She is my sounding board, my concience. There is no judgement here. In actuality, we don't see each other just for problems. I can be a joyous celebration or a sickness in one of our families. I have this tight-knit group of people. Do you know how everyone has a person? A confidante of sorts? I have three. Today I had nothing for her. She had nothing for me. I just called her the other day. I could tell she was trying to figure out if I needed her.
No, I said. I just called to say I love you.💖
You can't have everything. But you can have a #WednesdayWalk!

they set my aunts house on fire
i cried the way women on tv do
folding at the middle
like a five pound note.
i called the boy who use to love me
tried to ‘okay’ my voice
i said hello
he said warsan, what’s wrong, what’s happened?
i’ve been praying,
and these are what my prayers look like;
dear god
i come from two countries
one is thirsty
the other is on fire
both need water.
later that night
i held an atlas in my lap
ran my fingers across the whole world
and whispered,
"where does it hurt?"
it answered,

The photo of the field sure took me back to the farm. Lovely country. So many great memories to warm the soul there. Family, love, kids, even the best of pets. Yes the love from others is the fuel that keeps me going on. It is so obvious that you have so much love from others that you cant contain it all and it bursts forth as perpetual happiness that you can share around. Too cool.
I love that farm! It is so beautiful there and it just reminds me of growing up and living in the country but in a big town. If that makes any sense.
Oh, the memories!
Love surrounds my every day. I have never known any time in my life that it wasn't so. Sounds kind of Pollyanna, but, it is true. These people in my life are so loved by me.

This is very much America. The one that you probably see in your head is the cities, and only the big ones at that. I have another house on the Shore and it is in a very rural area, much like this, but, there is sand involved also. It is a big farming community. We had a lot of large open land, huge forests and deserts. The landscape of America is vast and varied.
Unless you are talking about me and my friend?
I grew up like this, along with my friend, riding horses and going to opera in NYC. We had the best of both worlds living where we did!

The way you have described your walk and this very special friendship has really elevated my spirit on this slightly rainy evening as all the colour fades to mist greys.

Thank you so much for something behind and it truly was a beautiful place to walk with my friend. There are so many Wide Open Spaces, reminding me of growing up and I can never get enough of covered bridges, which reminds me of the movie The Bridges of Madison County with Meryl Streep. There is a very involved story but much as you do with covered bridges and love oh, of course. I am sure that you have seen it.
It almost sounds silly to have that sort of conversation where you're you just have 10 subjects open at once and you run all over the place answering and questioning and it makes all perfect sense. Thank you so much for sharing my time with me. You're such a blessing.

Yes, those conversations are a never-ending feast for creative minds and hearts. I don't think our 'inner child' has that sense that everything has to be so ordered all the time ~ And loves to break away from all the restrictions we have ~ Especially thoughts of what something should or should not be ~ And particularly amongst true friends.
