Rose garden - Stein am Rhein

in #walkwithme5 years ago

We don't often have visitors at home. I don't know why but our relatives prefer when we visit them instead of coming to Switzerland. I must say that If I wouldn't live here I would be so happy to have someone whom I could visit in Switzerland, especially someone with a guestroom that has its own private bathroom 😊, but our family and friends see it differently..

These last two weeks were special as we had 2 visits! First, we had my brother-in-law with his family from Holland and then we had a friend from Prague. We had a really great time and I enjoyed having them but after two weeks I was happy to have our apartment for ourselves and frankly I couldn't wait to do some cleaning as I was getting crazy because of all those breadcrumbs that my little niece left on the floor. Kids are adorable but they leave so much mess behind!

We traveled a lot with them and spent countless hours in car to show them as much as we could in such a short time. I must admit that I didn't take my camera with me as knowing myself I wouldn't spend time with them but with my camera 😊, so I took a few photos with my smartphone.

One of the places that we always visit with our visitors is Stein am Rhein. I have already made a post about this charming town, so today I will show you some beautiful roses that we saw when we were walking around. Last year, I traveled frequently and didn't spend a lot of time around here in late spring/early summer, so I missed the roses 'season'. However, this year, I made up for it 😊

I was out on my own trip so I am late replying, but always great to see your lovely pics and see how you are enjoying your spring time Martina! :)

And I was in Slovakia so I'm late replying too :) Thank you for always stopping by Dave! Hope you're having a great time!

Greetings @delishtreats,

What lovely photographs of May's favourite flower, the Rose.

Delightful post of your day out. ^__^

All the best.

Cheers!

Hello @bleujay :)

Roses are beautiful. Some consider them old fashioned but I think that they will always symbolize love and passion :)

Thanks a million for your support!

Tschuusli (That's how we say it in Switzerland :))

These roses are simply a splendour, I feel as if I'm either getting an appetite for something with whipped fluffy cream or as if I have to put on a dress that is velvety gathered and falls to the ground in creamy tones. The perfection of the flowers and the beauty of the colours as well as these magical folds in which one would like to take a cloudy bath. The close-ups are wonderfully well done and the roses are perfectly staged. Each shows its own perfection. I have never seen such a thing in such a photographic presentation before, thank you very much!

Have they smelled as beautiful as they look? I know the smell of tea roses and could hold my nose in for hours.

That dress sounds like a great idea! :) I didn't think about it before but now when you say it I wouldn't mind such dress either while sitting in that garden and enjoying those beautiful roses around me...

Thank you so much for your lovely compliment. Photography is my passion and I'm always flattered when people like my photos.

Some of them smelled very nice, others not that much. My cousin got married 2 weeks ago and she had tea roses in her bride bouquet. It smelled so nice!

If I was your relative, I would go visit you in Switzerland! It looks like such a lovely country. On an other note you got some great pictures of roses, extensive collection! Note to self, always bring the camera!! Every time I decide not to take it with me , I regret it (I don't have a smart phone as a consolation prize). Anyhow, sounds like you had a great time showing your homeland to your visitors! Thanks for sharing. :)

Hahaha, thank you! I wish my relatives were like you :)

If I know I would be walking a lot then I don't take it as it's too heavy. My camera with the lens is around 2.5 kg so I don't like taking it for long trips :)

Thank you for stopping by and I am sorry for getting back to you so late. I was on vacation without internet connection :)

I agree about kids. Sometimes i just want to cover them or put them in a balloon or something to catch everything so there is no worry about what they are scattering lol! Anyways, love this collection. They seem to have almost all kinds of roses. Imagine your yard surrounded by all that.

Hahaha, how many kids do you have?

Thank you for stopping by and sorry for getting back to you so late.. I was on vacation and didn't go online a lot :)

Howdy Martina! How about the food? Are the people who you would think would like to come for a visit vegans? Maybe that has something to do with it. But probably not. lol. But anyway, those roses are like the most perfect roses in the history of the world, they are totally glorious.

But, it doesn't matter how great the flowers are if the photographer doesn't know how to take the photos so I give you at least half the credit for the beauty of the photos! lol. God bless you guys.

Hahaha, they didn't come even when we were not vegans. But you might be right. We have a rule that there can't be any animal product in our household :D so this could be a reason too!

Thank you so much for your compliments! I see that you're in the sweet mood again :)

Howdy Martina! Have you been busy working on your business? I think I didn't see your name for a little while. No animal product in your household..does that include leather? I mean people would have to be careful to find good shoes with no leather. I mean you can but you would have to work at it, at least for boots like I like to wear.

I'm just curious, no disagreement here.
Hey, yes I guess I was in a sweet mood that day. lol. It happens!

Hello cowboy :) I was in Slovakia for a few weeks. At the beginning I was finalizing the business plan and realized that I don't want to go with the location that I found because of the risk that was too high. The initial investment would be way too high and I prefer to have higher working capital for my first year of work. I'm looking into alternative revenue stream so let's see when I'll actually open the restaurant. It is the ultimate goal but I want to do something different in between until I find the best location. I may not be able to open this year but everything happens for a reason so I am quite ok with that.

It does indeed include no leather. I still have old leather shoes and bags but no new leather products are brought into our home. Of course, when visitors come they can come in their leather shoes, lol. But there is no way there would be any animal food here as I wouldn't put it in my fridge or cook it with my stuff :)

It is not easy to find good vegan shoes but it is not impossible. I don't mind to do some research and invest in good shoes if I know that they are cruelty free :)

I wonder what kind of day you will have today :)

Nice to “hear” from you @delishtreats! I smiled at this …

”… I would be so happy to have someone whom I could visit in Switzerland, especially someone with a guestroom that has its own private bathroom 😊, but our family and friends see it differently..”

… as I can relate, from our time in Washington state. Great, great place to live, but … Our families were so far away and almost never came to visit. We had wonderful accommodations ready though!? 😉

”I must admit that I didn't take my camera with me as knowing myself I wouldn't spend time with them but with my camera …”

Honesty! I like it. But you were definitely being thoughtful as well!! 😊 Our phones these days really are remarkable. I am sure that cameras are better still, but it takes a more and more discerning eye to distinguish between them I think. And your pictures to me prove this out, as they are wow … Spectacular!! 👍 I love roses …

Thanks for sharing them with us!

P.S. Any news on your progress with your restaurant?

Good afternoon my dear friend,

I don't understand why this is happening though. We keep inviting them but they are too comfortable to come over. Or maybe they just don't want to spend money on visiting us :D No idea.. Oh, I'm sorry to hear that you had similar experience..

It takes me a lot of time to take photos as I like to wait for the right moment and it's not very nice when you're with bunch of people. I prefer to go on such photography trips alone or with my husband as he understands me :) And I agree with you. Phones are amazing nowadays. The only issue that I have with that is the light. It's difficult to capture landscapes because of the light overexposure.. Thank you for the compliment! I'm happy that you like my photos :)

Oh, there are so many updates.. I'm looking at several locations now. There are a few problems with each of them. My favorite one is in an old building where I would have to build the ventilation system. I have just gotten an offer for that and it's 35k CHF (around the same in USD). The problem is that you don't make any money by doing that. If it would be an improvement that would attract customers then I would not even think about it and do it. BUT this is only to comply with local regulations. It's just crazy... I'm planning to do a post about what's happening now soon :)

Okay @delishtreats ...

" I'm planning to do a post about what's happening now soon :)"

... that sounds good! Sorry to hear you are having such difficulty finding a suitable location. I think you are wise, though, to be patient and "keep fighting the good fight" to get the right one.

I imagine, instead, it would far too easy to "settle" only to look back in time and have regrets. Perhaps serious regrets ...

I once found a fruit juice bottle behind the sofa after I hosted a teenager for a week, so I know the feeling.

And, if I come to Switzerland, I promise I'll only stay for a few days #invitemyselfround #stayingwithdelishtreats

Hahaha, we found some toys in the strangest places after they left. We made a video call with them and showed them to my niece and she wanted to take them with her hand :D It was so funny. She is 19 months old and she doesn't get that it's just the screen :)

YES!! PLEASE do so! Our door is open and you are always welcome here :)
