Stumbling onto steemit - Hello!

Hello All,

Well this is an interesting platform and concept! 

I stumbled across steemit while searching for stuff relating to crypto-currency. After a bit of a poke about, I thought I might as well sign up and maybe start also generating content.

I noticed one of the topics on the right of the site was introduceyourself, so what better way to open than a quick introductory post.

So, who is me? Me is Dave. A middle aged, married man and balding dad of two daughters. For the last 28 years I have worked in the oil industry. The first 25 years of my career were spent in the North Sea, then took the opportunity to give overseas a try and moved the family from Scotland to live and work in Qatar. Although, things are about to change again. You may have seen in the news last year that Maersk Oil lost the license to operate the Al-Shaheen field, and the new operator is going to be a new JV called North Oil Company. I will be transferring to the new company in about 3 weeks and as a result of this move, we will be moving country again. So we are off to Cyprus. In addition to the oil industry, I have also a love of all things IT. Over the years I have published a number of articles over on CodeProject. so will probably move a few of the more popular articles across onto here to increase the accessibility.
