Steemit Journey - Steeming for 7 months and so far it has been fun!

in #steemit6 years ago (edited)

Hello Steemians! It is time again for my monthly reflection post. Time really flew by and 7 months had past since my first post. Today I will like to look back at the exciting things that happened in the past month, which I regard as the most fruitful month in my Steemit journey thus far.

The routine stuff

Reputation and followers

As usual, let's take a look at my progress in terms of reputation and followers.

image.png

My reputation grew from 60 to 61 and followers from 889 to 967. The next milestone for me will be that 1000 followers mark. Haha.. I am not too sure when I can achieve that and I hope it will be before my next monthly update 😆.

Investment

My investment on Steem is very much trading sideways for the past month. Not much has changed. In fact, in the recent BTC surge, the STEEM/BTC rate has fallen quite a bit. But it is fine, as long as I am still using this platform, I will still see STEEM as the more useful cryptocurrency than BTC. Speaking of investment, I stumbled upon an interesting infographic comparing different markets in the world. Take a look at it and you will realize how small the cryptocurrency market is compared to others.

What am I up to lately

Steem Oracle updates

As some of you might know, I have recently wrapped up the first experiment for the Steem-Oracle project. I think it was a rather successful experiment as it proved that the collective wisdom of Steemians can outperform most Steemians individually. If you are interested to find out more, you can refer to the link above which will lead you to my summary post.

To better interact with everyone of you, I have create a Steem Oracle Discord server. In the server, I will update you guys on my next plan and get your opinion on how Steem Oracle project should continue to progress. I will like to build a strong community around it where every member can help each other out. Hopefully we can all have fun together in the server and we can get to know more Steemians and start supporting each other 😁.

Byteball to Steem conversion service

On top of the Steem Oracle project, I have also recently started a Byteball to Steem conversion service. So far, I have converted Byteballs to Steem for several Steemians. If you are interested, do check out the link above for details.

2nd Singapore Steemitup on 4th July

On 4th July, the #TeamSingapore community had our second meetup. It was a fun-filled evening with great food. There were quite a few fresh faces who were not in the first meetup and it was really great meeting them face-to-face.

Steem projects that I am using the most

I will like to take this chance to also share a list of projects on Steem that I like and have been using the most.

  • Steem Basic Income - @steembasicincome is one of my favorite projects on Steem because it has the objective of building a long-term and sustainable future for the Steem platform. For those who do not know about @steembasicincome, I urge you to read up about it (link above).
  • Minnowbooster and SmartSteem - @minnowbooster and @smartsteem are the 2 most reliable vote buying services on the Steem platform. I have to be transparent here that I have been buying upvotes for my posts simply because I see a positive ROI in doing so. To me, there is nothing wrong in buying votes, as long as I am delivering content that I think is reasonably decent 😎. Anyway, I have tracked my vote buying statistics for the past 90 posts and there is an average of 11.5% ROI per post. Which is fantastic returns in my opinion. So if you have not tried it out, do follow the links above to sign up.
  • SteemAuto - @steemauto is a automation service with lots of features. It allows you to follow your favorite Steemian and auto-upvote their posts such that you are always able to give them your support. There is also a feature to help you claim your rewards automatically. More info can be found here. Note that at the point of writing, @steemauto site seems to be down.
  • DustSweeper - @dustsweeper is another interesting project which I have subscribed to. It is developed by @davemccoy and @danielsaori, and it helps to consolidate all the small votes with less than $0.0249 value and provide an upvote which you can collect on day 6 of your post.
  • Qurator - @qurator, as its name suggest, curate posts on Steemit and aim to identify and promote the best articles they can find. If you support their cause, they will provide regular upvotes to your post in return. This is the kind of project which makes Steem a better place for everyone.
  • Partiko - My dear friend @jlordc reminded me that I missed out writing about @partiko. @partiko is a user-friendly android app to interact with the Steem platform. The application is lag free and there is a points system which reward your activities.

Thanks everyone for reading! What services/projects on Steem do you support and use the most? Let me know by commenting below.

most importantly is that we earn some bucks here!

hi @bluewinter, your location is marked as Singapore. Are you from Singapore or currently based in Singapore?

Must be nice to meet fellow steemians irl, that will definitely strengthen the bond between users.

btw thanks for the events and the conversion service, it was nice dealing with you. And congrats on your new chapter here in steem.

Haha.. thanks for your support too!

Congratulations on your 7th monthsary @culgin :)

I believe I was one of your very first followers when you were still starting out and to see how much you had progressed is an inspiration.

Anyways, I've finally started using this Partiko thing mostly because of you lol I should have tried this one sooner.

Haha.. thanks for your constant support! I should add Partiko to the list. Will edit it in later in the day. Lol...

It sure has been a busy month for you. You have done well for the 7 months that you were on Steem! Great job! Cheers!

Can I consult you on a separate matter. I am having trouble posting. When I tried to post, this message comes up.

“you are about to publish a Steem private key or master password. You will probably lose control of the associated account and all it funds.
Legitimate users, including employees of Steemit Inc, will never ask you for a private key or master password.”

Have you any idea how that comes about and how to rectify the problem. This morning, I ignored the message and went ahead to post, I was immediately logged out. after that, I was unable to sign in again. Luckily I was able to recover the account and everything seems to be all right.

But now, every time I tried to post, the same message will come up. It would be great if you can shed some light on the matter, otherwise, don't worry. Thanks in advance!

Hi @quotes-haven, the warning is there when you accidentally try to post your Steem password as part of your article. May I know if you have changed your password after you recovered the account?

If you are using Discord, you can talked to me there for more privacy. I checked your post and I think i know the problem. Would like to share with you but discussing in public might cause further problems to your account.

Hi Culgin, Thanks for your speedy reply. I am glad that you may know where the problem is.
Yes, I changed my password. But no, I am not using Discord. Which one are you using please?

You are welcome. If you have changed your password then it should be safe. My Discord username is culgin#1360. We can talk there

looking good

Hi all @teamsingapore, I never knew there was a teamsingapore. I am a Singaporean but staying more than 75% of my time in Perth Australia. My son is a PR in Perth and since we retired, we have been traveling to and fro into Perth. Wonder how big is the Singapore team? Have follow and upvoted.
@jackpot

Hi @jackpot, when I first joined steemit, I started a mission to seek out Singaporeans on this platform. Haha.. together with @jrvacation, we started #teamsingapore. We now have a small community of around 15 active members and we actively discuss stuff in our Discord server.

You are doing a great job within such a short period. Much much better then me who is 2years old. Just celebrated my 2nd year anniversary on 25th July. Well done, please keep up the good job.
Steem On.

Congrats on that level of growth and I hope you expand even larger! Steem on!

Thank you!

Which one is @Gandalfthewhite in the table photo? :-p

But congrats @culgin you are doing great!

Haha.. thanks! But @gandalfthewhite is not in the picture my friend.

Congratulations, culgin on your 7th month here. I applaud your efforts on being active while working. I have only entered the workforce on 9th July 2018 and I did not have the time to do blogs. It is only training for the job not real work! May you have success for the months to come. Upvoted!

Thanks my friend! I think it is always busier at the start of new job. But once you get into the groove, you will probably free up some time. Thanks for reading despite your busy schedule!

You were definitely more active than me during my first 7 months here alone back in 2016. I didn't even know of another Singaporean on the platform.

The meetup looks solid. I wish to come for the next one!

Thanks for the share on these projects.

Hey there! Haha.. thanks for the comments. Looking forward to meeting you in the next meetup!
