Dungeons of the military Kuibyshev. Object "A"

In Samara, on the territory of the military sanatorium "Volga" there is an interesting underground facility. In the people it is known as the bunker of the Privo Military District or the bunker of the army headquarters. There is also a lesser known name - the bunker of Zhukov, but according to documents the object is called bunker "A". Designed for the leadership of the Soviet Army. It is the same age as another, more well-known underground structure - object number 1, in the people - bunker of Stalin.

The construction of the bunker under the sanatorium began in November 1941 with the detachments of the special construction unit of the USSR, three months earlier than the construction of the bunker of Stalin. But unlike it, built in record time, for ten months, the object "A" was delivered in two years, in 1943. The Stalin bunker was built by the Metrostroi forces of the USSR.

The greatest depth of occurrence of object "A" - 31 meters. The total area of tunnels and rooms is about 900 square meters. Features of its structure allow to prevent the invasion of the enemy inside the military facility and to extinguish blast waves. There are three exits: the first on the Volga bank, the second on the sanatorium territory, and the third - the elevator in one of the buildings.

The military left the bunker in the late 90s. Gradually, the object began to steal. Due to lack of maintenance and features of the construction of the bunker - the tunnels were flooded with groundwater. Depending on the water level in the Volga, the water level inside the bunker also changed.

For more than 20 years, the bunker was in an abandoned state. But in the near future the object will receive a new life. The management of the sanatorium plans to open a museum in the former facility of the USSR Ministry of Defense. The exposition will carry a patriotic thrust and represent sections on the region's participation in shaping the combat and labor power of Russia. Space, aircraft construction, the work of special services and the diplomatic corps during the Second World War will become permanent parts of the exposition.
