Travels With Connie #66 It's The Water

in #travel6 years ago

Sometimes I know exactly where I am going. In that case it’s easy, pick a route and go.

More often I have an idea where I’d like to end up, and generally speaking a direction to go.

Once in a while I just follow the front wheel and see where it takes me.

I've told you that it is 35 years between visits to Glacier National Park for me. I remember some things, think I remember others. But I certainly do not remember this part of this stream or the spectacular nature of it.

The pullout and parking area looks fairly new, my guess is that this was just marked by a non descript pullout and I went right past it. My bad. This year was not a particularly good snow year in the park, but the last time I was here it was a huge snow year.

Had I stopped here the last time by this stream would have been a raging torrent. The last trip they opened Going to the Sun Highway on the 4th of July and had a major snow removal project to get it by then.

This is how rivers are supposed to form. The flow that we see here comes from miles away and is all snow melt. The water is pure and incredibly clean. The majesty of the setting and the absolutely clear water is just stunning.

I left this spot called Red Rocks with reluctance. It is so beautiful and serene. There were lots of people in the area but the noise level was minimal. I think this place commands respect.

The climb begins in earnest now. Thanks for coming along for the ride!

I love to go for walks in nature too, we have some streams but they are often dry due to the heat and sandy nature of our state. I would love to curate this or a future post through the @asapers account, we share profits with our curated posts and only curate from our followers, so if you are interested in being featured then please consider following us. I look forward to hearing from you soon.

I also live in hot dry and sandy conditions, but I do get out now and again. This one is from my summer trip at Glacier National Park.

I am curious, I'll give it a look.

Nice to see you following the @asapers now, thanks for that I will keep an eye out for a post to curate. :D

Pictures like these you share from this trip just makes me want to grab my fishing pole and say to hell with work today. Thanks.

Yeah, man. That water looked really fishable in a whole bunch of places. Only saw one fisherman, but I wasn't really looking.

Man this looks amazing, thanks for sharing!

Glad to share. That was such a cool spot, I could have just stayed.

Dear sir wish you great day and beautiful journey of the Glacier thirty five years really it's a long time as I am still 33, haha but this journey will definitely bring you some notable, memorable and beautiful memories there. Nature looks very very clean and naturally rich rivers are in a better mood due to the awareness of the people to conserve their original form and not polluting them, here in India we are facing disastrous consequences of man-made pollution to our rivers, maybe one day everyone unitedly does hard efforts to clean our rivers.
Dear sir, I wish you safe and secure hiking.
Share your magnificent experience and beautiful part of nature to us.

Thank you.

It never seemed that long until I was actually there again. I spent much of my life within an easy days ride of Glacier and have only been there twice. That is definitely my bad behavior.

Thank you for the kind words oodeyaa!

Dear sir I think you are very lucky to be there as I already spends my 33 years and I never seen any glacier yet with my own eyes although I am only thousands kilometres away from the nearest glacier.

God bless you.

What’s the weather temperature there @bigtom13?
The pine tress with the water look so relaxing and inviting!

Safe travels!

I was there early July and the temp there was probably 85 F (30C) mid day. There is enough altitude that the temp changes fairly quickly. Early in the morning I was chilly and by lunch time it was wonderful. It is one of the most inviting spots I have ever been to, no doubt.

Thanks for stopping by Joy. Take care on your travels too.

I can almost hear the water rushing past the rocks! And look at the colour of the water!!! Amazing! Ah I wish I could see it in person. Who knows, maybe one day I will venture over the pond! :D

I didn't see this spot the first time I was here, and I was just captivated. I think I'll probably have to go back, it was that cool.

What I wouldn't give to go kayaking in those rapids. Maybe a bit on the dangerous side, but it does seem manageable.

I think for an experienced kayaker it would be fine. There are a couple of channels that are wood clogged, but otherwise I think do able. Good water flow for sure.

Did you go in the water at all? Just curious what the temperature was. Like ice cold from the snow melt or not that bad. I see people were swimming in it, so it either had to be not too bad or they are just nuts!

I'm guessing pretty darn cold. All I saw in the water was a couple of boys about 10. Others looked ready to get in, but none that I saw were wet.

You are probably right then! Pretty funny!

I love the look of the rushing rapids and the water looks so clear. I can imagine it being super refreshing on a hot day. What a great spot to take a break from the trip and possibly have a picnic.

If I'd have been set up for a picnic that would have been the perfect spot. Sometimes I have some cold chicken and fruit, but I had slicked up every bit the night before and didn't replenish stock. Even though I ate just before I entered the Park I was really ready on the other end :)

Thanks, for the virtual tour of the serene Red Rocks, Tom. Motorcycle travel is an exhilarating way to live & I wish you many more happy discoveries round the bend, my friend _/|\_

Thank you. I just love travelling that way. I go toward what's interesting. It's not always this good (this place was amazing.) but it's always fun.
