Music Word of the Day: Rhetoric and music
Term: Rhetoric and music
Definition: The ideas of rhetoric and
music have long been linked. In the Medieval and Renaissance eras, many writers tried to draw parallels between orator and musician. This is an old idea, which originated in classical times, which later lead to the Baroque idea of the Doctrine of the Affections.
