Milestone- One Month on Steemit and 300 Followers. What I've Learned and Some Tips

in #steemit7 years ago

Hey SteemFam!

A few days ago (2nd July), I completed one month of being here on Steemit. Coincidentally, the one month mark fell on my brother's birthday and funny enough, the day I officially joined Steemit was one of my best friend's birthday (2nd June). Being the terrible friend I am, I forgot to wish her... don't worry... she forgave me... lol.

Brother's Birthday Lunch Party

I got introduced to Steemit by @firepower. A friend of mine in Canada wanted to buy one of my bottles. I did not know how to work out the logistics of the whole thing so I decided to ask @firepower if he knew what I should do. He then told me about Steemit. I was a bit confused, but my interest was piqued. I decided to ask him more about Steemit and soon found myself signing up.

So here I am... one month later. I am still learning the ropes, but I have made a lot of amazing friends who have helped me improve as a steemer.

Also... I Crossed 300 Followers ☺

In Steemit I have found a community... a family. I have found support like I have never had before. I have found people who see the world as I do, like the things that I like and most importantly... people who don't judge me for who I am or what I do.

I love the level of interaction on here. Steemit has helped me wean off Facebook... lol. I feel more productive here. I know that I am not wasting my time. I know that my thoughts, efforts, work and art are valued and appreciated here. Being here makes me happy.

You are all amazing and I'm happy to be one among you.

I know that I am still very new here, but I would like to share some things that I have learned:

  • Quality is very important. No way around it.
  • Please don't copy paste. Especially not someone else's work. It's not very nice and people will notice.
  • If you are basing your article on someone else's work, please reference the original by pasting a link. Try to add something of your own as a way of adding value. Maybe some insights from personal experiences or your thoughts on the matter?
  • Try to learn as much as you can about styling your posts. You get to learn something new and interesting, and your posts get better and better ☺
  • Adding visuals (pictures, gifs, videos) to your posts is a good way to attract and retain attention.
  • Interact with as many people as you can. Interaction helps you build a network and gain valuable followers and participators.
  • Be consistent with your posting.
  • Try to post often. It doesn't have to be four posts a day or anything like that. If you can, then that's swell. If you can't, then that's okay too. Just try not to keep too long a gap between your posts.
  • Tag your posts correctly so you get the right audience or a wider audience... depending on what you are going for. You can check the Trending Topics to pick the right tag for your posts.
  • There are a lot of contests on Steemit. Try to take part so you gain more visibility.

I hope this was helpful ☺

Thanks for reading ☺

Congratulations on the 300 followers! :) And I have to agree -- Steemit's two steps ahead of f a c e b o o k now. LOL. More than anything tho', I love how you literally summed up everything a Steemer/Steemian should be or should do on a post. <3 Will keep those things in mind.

Yea I literally have to remind myself to check Facebook now... lol. Before I would just open it like I'm on auto pilot. Now I open steemit. Hahaha... I'm still an addict though (help me)... lol.
Thank you 😊 I'm glad you think my points are useful ☺

Congratulations for the milestone Andy! many more to go :)

So many of your points got me nodding and thinking like, this girl really knows how to wrap up the proper attitudes and habits to have on steemit! :)

Btw my brother's birthday falls on June 2 and my sister-in-law's on July 2 too :))

Hahahahaha!! Amazing coincidence... I'm really not a terrible friend lol... i never forget birthdays... I've just been messed up this year...
I'm glad you liked my post :D

hehehe no worries girl.. I totally understand..in fact, this past June the 5th, I forgot one of my best guy friend's birthday..he was so bummed, said he actually teared up a little over the fact lol so I'll have to make it up to him when he visits me sometime this year..

Aww. I hipe he forgave you... lol. My friend just messaged us on the group like "Hey guys... thanks for forgetting my birthday". That felt like a punch in my gut. See... I was not the only one who forgot her birthday. Our other friend has a reputation for forgetting birthdays so she got a free pass. I felt so awful. She forgave me though. Lol. I still want to make it up to her. Any ideas? Lol

great work, well done and thanks for the hints!
