This is a weekly, semi-automated post where I will show some statistics and graphs of the development category. It will also serve as a showcase for the staff picks and task requests that were made in the current week. If you have any suggestions or things you'd like to see in this post, then please let me know!

Introducing 'Competition Pools' on 1Ramp - With 2 Ongoing Contests by @the1ramp

With this update 1Ramp has made hosting contests on Steem much easier. From creating contests to announcing results, all that can now be done with 1Ramp's Android app. The amount of work and attention to detail that has gone into this contribution is a great example for other contributors!

Category summary

  • There were 38 contributions of which 37 were, or will be, rewarded.
  • The average score was 68.5 with an average reward of 63.1 STU from Utopian.
  • The total reward from Utopian for development contributions this week (so far) is 2081.7 STU.
  • There were a total of 32 unique contributors in the category. Of those 6 were new contributors in the development category (@fancybrothers, @official-hord, @sisygoboom, @avral, @lemouth-dev, @steeveapp).

Average score, reward (STU) and time before review (hours) per week

weekly_overview.png
Time before review is the number of hours between the creation of the post and the time it is reviewed by a moderator.

The average score of contributions has gone up from 65.6 to 68.5 this week, which is a good indication that the quality of contributions has also gone up! Despite the average score going up, the average reward has unfortunately gone down from 69.2 STU to 63.1 STU. This might have something to do with the new voting bot voting on contributions at a lower voting power than before, but I am not sure about that. Finally, the number of hours it takes for us to get to a contribution and review it (on average) has gone down a bit from 14.7 to 12.0.

Number of contributions reviewed per week

weekly_reviewed.png

As you can see the weekly number of reviews is up from 28 to 38! Unfortunately despite the number of reviews being up compared to last week, the number of reviews in the last two weeks (66) is down from the two weeks prior (68). Either way, it's great to see the number going up compared to last week, so hopefully it continues like this.

Number of unique contributors per week

With the number of reviews going up this week it's obviously not that surprising that the number of unique contributors has also gone up slightly from 28 to 32 this week, but of course this is still very cool nonetheless!

CryptTracker Task Request: Discord Detective Bot for Communities by @lovenfreedom

@lovenfreedom is looking for someone to help with the creation of a Discord bot for detecting abuse. For this task request a couple of commands need to be implemented which will help with matching accounts to memos, other accounts and accounts with a similar name. She has provided A LOT of information, which should make completing the task much easier for someone who wants to help with fighting abuse on the Steem blockchain!

This is a comprehensive report. Comprises all the necessary details in the Utopian Development category. It is well presented and quite informative. Thumbs up!

Please note that while the CM hasn't changed the footer, I am not scoring #iamutopian posts based on the questionnaire. They have their own metric, and that will be the case until we go live with the new guidelines and new questionnaire, which will be comprehensive enough to reflect these types of posts.

Your contribution has been evaluated according to Utopian policies and guidelines, as well as a predefined set of questions pertaining to the category.

Thank you for your review, @tykee! Keep up the good work!

Interesting overview of the week in the development category. There is one contribution with score way lower than others. Was the contributor new to the Utopian concept? On the other hand, the average score per moderator is over 60, which looks nice. Another interesting aspect is the variation of reviews made by each moderator over the weeks.

Edit: official-hord sounds quite familiar to me. Do you consider new contributors in the category or globally across whole Utopian?

Actually no, it was contribution submitted by an experienced contributor. He added support for the Waleshares blockchain, but the code was basically the same as Steem blockchain part of his project, except with different variable names.

It's good to see the average score going up as I think it's a good indication the quality is also going up. Or we are getting less strict, but I don't think that is the case, haha.
