Mandarin duck. Which bird will be next?
By the numerous requests of my fans (joke) today the choice fell on the mandarin. It's such a funny duck, with very bright plumage.
I use the watercolor "Nevskaya Palitra": scarlet, Prussian blue, green, cadmium yellow medium, cadmium orange, purple, carmine. Paper Palazzo 280g / m2, 70% cotton.
I start sketching with a silhouette, I draw with a pencil. Then I turn to watercolors.
Today I will not work with the watercolor on raw. I will collect the duck in pieces. I start with the head and red spots, I try to brush so that there remains a trace, similar to feathers. I do all parts of the duck. I wait until the first layer dries to clarify a few details. While the layer dries - I paint in another place.
The duck is bright, so I try not to interfere with the colors, but leave them clean. For darker places I mix blue and violet and take very thick paint. For light - I paint with water. This is a very small sketch, which took me 15 minutes. Most likely, I will return to this duck in the markers))

Very good! I like the first picture. And the second feeling that the weather is cloudy) The bright colors of the plumage have faded)))) But maybe there is a duck of this color? I never saw them.

Very nicely done! The mandarin duck is such a colourful type of bird; almost looks like it shouldn't be possible.
