๐Ÿ† The Curation and Engagement Leagues ๐Ÿ† - STEEM prizes available!

in #engagement โ€ข 6 years ago (edited)

Welcome to this weeks Curation and Engagement leagues, kindly sponsored by @curie!

Last week, @curie offered to sponsor the Engagement League for the next two months and provided 200 STEEM to do so. Thank you very much @curie for the financial support and recognition that the Engagement League is a positive addition to the Steem blockchain.

To enter the leagues drop a comment below (Lifetime membership - unless you ask to be removed)

The leagues (tables) are reset each week and so any time is a good time to join!

On your marks, get set, curate!

Curation tips

My general views on curation rewards (to score highly in League 1) are:

  • Vote before the big hitters, but not too early!

  • Voting in the first minute will earn you a curation reward of almost 0.000

  • Voting between 1 and 29 minutes will earn an increasing % of the curation rewards split - This value peaking at 30 minutes and remaining the same from this point onwards

  • It is commonly suggested that 15-25 minutes is the best time to vote, especially on known 'power author' posts because they are likely to have more auto-votes coming in at these times - and you want to be ahead of these votes

  • Voting on good dtube/dlive/sndbox content, and utopian-io approved contributions (prior to the vote by @dtube / @utopian-io, etc) can earn some very good curation rewards

  • Voting on @ocd posts is likely to gain good curation rewards as founder @acidyo, and @anomadsoul support these posts after giving time for other accounts to vote - you will be in front of a couple of large votes here!

As you can see, a combination of many variables such as Steem Power, voting strength, voting weight, time of vote, and more, all play a part in the amount of rewards received.

My general opinion on maximizing engagement (to score highly in League 2) is to:

  • Spread your vote and write lots of engaging comments!

  • Use your vote on the comments of others to make yourself (vote) seen and provoke a reply with a well-written comment

The data for league 1

The raw data has been collected from SteemSQL - @arcange's MS SQL Server copy of the Steem Blockchain.

The formula used for 'quality of financial curation skill' is:

Curation Rewards DIVIDED BY Steem Power MULTIPLIED BY 1000

This will return the amount of Curation rewards gained per 1000 Steem Power held

The rules (which will cause auto-filtering of your account if not met so just enter anyway and see what happens!) to appear in this league:

  • No programmed voting! Following a trail is OK, using a script to vote for you is not (but well done if you have done that!)

  • Must have voted at least once on a piece of content in the past 7 days

  • Must not have leased or delegated Steem Power in the last 14 days

  • Must not have Started a Power Down (withdrawal of Steem Power) in the last 15 days

The 2nd and 3rd points above are not 'bad' actions, but are required to reduce distortion of the figures.

And, as curation rewards for the past week are actually taken from votes made up to 14 days ago, we need a two week 'window' as mentioned above.

Don't let this put you off entering though - you will be automatically be excluded/appear each week, depending on the criteria above.

League 1 - Curation / Rewards based

The end column is what I think is a genuine indicator of how well you are financially working the curation game with the tools, including vested Steem Power, that you have at your disposal.

League 2 - Engagement - Sponsored by @curie

This the newer league which is not based around financial rewards and relates to engagement.

Everyone currently on my master list has a chance here - including those powering down or dealing in delegations this past couple of weeks.

I've used some metrics (which is the fancy way of saying that made up some numbers) relating to:

  • Posts (P)
  • Comments - number of (C)
  • Comments - replies to replies - depth > 2 (C R)
  • Comments - length in characters (C L)
  • Witness votes (W) (for those proxying witness votes, your total is always 30)
  • Upvotes to others (V)
  • Upvotes to different authors (U V)
  • Self-votes - a (getting smaller each week) minus score for this one sorry! (S V)

Firstly, if you are placed in the table above then you among the top 20% of the league entrants!

Congratulations to this weeks Engagement League winner, @eaglespirit!

I think this is the closest table on record with just 1700 points separating the top 5 and, we have 3 ladies at the top :D

Previous champs @lynncoyle1 takes 2nd, and @gillianpearce is 3rd. Consistent stuff!

Excellent engagement levels and top 10 (OK, 12!) places for @mad-runner, @glenalbrethsen, @bashadow, @davemccoy, @wolfhart, @maverickinvictus, @abh12345, @leeart, and @funbobby51, who will all be receiving some STEEM this week.

Those without a self-vote (from their main account at least ๐Ÿ˜ฑ) placed in the top 30 this week will also receive a little STEEM.

Do you want to be a part of the leagues? Let me know below!

Wow Asher, another good week! Glad to see a new winner at the top @eaglespirit. Its amazing that just a few comments separated #1 and #2 and @lynncoyle1 deserves kudos too for being so close!

Its also nice to see the new sponsor here @curie, who is amazing for stepping up and helping you continue this great league. I also want to thank the former sponsors for being a big component on getting you to this phase @paulag and @carlgnash... Thank all 3 of you for really helping Asher get to so many and provide support and encouragement!

And congrats to everyone of the old and new names I see on the list. I love to see the activity each week and really enjoy knowing our ranks continue to grow!

And finally thanks to you Asher, I appreciate the prize that I earned and I again will donate it to help @friendsofgondor grow!

Thanks Dave, I appreciate that! Congratulations to you as well :)

Thanks Dave!

Yes always nice to see a new name, even though I do seeing familiar names up there too.

Carl is actually quite involved in @curie, and so it is possible he could have bent a few ears over there. But yes, thanks to Carl and the boss for the sponsorship prior to this one :D

You know, it is your prize Dave? haha Myself and all the other ex-stewards appreciate @friendsofgondor and your work there.

lol... I understand, but if it weren't for you that prize wouldn't exist... So I look at it as we all win with my decision and together we help out some damn good people! (and frankly supporting an even bigger idea)

I had a hunch people were going to start paying attention to what you were doing, but it never hurts to have the connections to the big boys (and the boss)... I know you have them, so I hope that snowball keeps going smoothly down that hill and getting bigger and bigger!

You know more than I then!

Thanks though, I like the sound of an ever increasing snowball of Engagement :)

@abh12345 ... I just have hunches.... I don't know much of anything, but I hope my hunch is right ;)

hey there dM! nice to see you here, at least we get to touch base once a week. :)
was it really only the difference of a comment ot two? looks like a difference of 15 points ... how thats aded up only asher knows ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ
my total comment amount was up there, characters can be better. number of posts up there too. ๐Ÿค”

@eaglespirit yes exactly on touching base once a week! ๐Ÿ˜€ and yes I think it was that close, you are right that Asher has a secret formula, but I think it was roughly one or two comments.. The bottom line is if you win the Super Bowl that is all people remember, you are the Queen and we all are your subjects this week! ;)

@davemccoy wow interesting, i made over 500 i did not see anyone make that many but i could be mistaken. glad to see you and i hope you are well. :)
ahahah hilarious i am the queen and it was a great win!! Let them eat cake!! oh did i say that?? muahahahah

@eaglespirit lol... now we know what kind of Queen that you are... be careful though, the last Queen that said that didn't fair too well :P

it was a joke man, a joke! see a queen with humor is a good thing! she isn't an alien, a lizard she is REAL! :p

@eaglespirit :P ... I knew that! I was playing... and yes you have been a great queen this week (love the humor) โค๏ธ ... Now I hope you make it again because I like "cake" too! ;)

hahaahha thanks Dave!! we shall see, i'm not sure i hit 500 comments this week but i increased in length. we shall see. yay Cake!!!

what a close week @abh12345. Five with 1700 and only 15 points separating first and second!!!! ๐Ÿ˜ฑ

Well done to @eaglespirit for making it into the number one slot and to @lynnecoyle1 for making second. ๐Ÿ˜Š

Congrats to all in the top ten (twelve) @mad-runner, @glenalbrethsen, @bashadow, @davemccoy, @wolfhart, @maverickinvictus, @abh12345, @leeart, and @funbobby51. Great effort all round!

I think a special mention is due to Dave Mccoy and @dustsweeper I'm sure his "commenting as much as you can" post helped me to the number three position. If you find you often get upvotes of less then 2c on your comments please do yourself a big favour and check out Dust Sweeper. It is a way to save those pennies from turning to dust.

Thanks as always to Asher for doing the curation and for the three Steem winnings which I've already powered up! ๐Ÿ˜

Big thank you also to @curie for sponsoring the Engagement League for the next two months.

Have a fun week everybody! ๐Ÿ˜

Gillian, thanks for the mention of @dustsweeper and love the fact that you explain it so well! I think you deserve to be in the top though, no matter what programs come out, you are an engagement stalwart week in and week out!

Aw, Thank you @davemccoy. Without engagement there's be no point in being here for me. It's what keeps me going in the down times. ๐Ÿ˜Š

@gillianpearce yes me too... if I didn't chit chat with people and try to help, it would be a lonely place with all the bots ;)

How are you finding Fast-Reply @davemccoy? Does it make a really big difference to you?

I haven't used it because I don't like that it leaves a link in the comments.

Every time I receive one with the link in it it sort of jars. There's something about "fast" reply that my brain interprets to "unconsidered" reply.

@gillianpearce yes it makes it super fast to go through the comments.... saves a lot of time and works great... I don't like that part either, but I got over it when I realized how much more efficient it made me! :)

ps... they should change it to "thoughful reply"

That's a great idea @davemccoy. I was trying to think of an alternative myself but "thoughtful reply" would work for me. However, it doesn't really refelt their (can't think of the term, it's a marketing one about features I'm searching for ๐Ÿ˜‚)

I'm currently managing with GINA and a ton of open browser windows but I suspect I'll migrate at some point.

@gillianpearce Once you get behind and have to catch up (like me most of the time), then you will say "wow, what a great tool" ;)

thank you Gill it was very unexpected and prob a lucky week is all. youll be back up to #1 no doubt. :)

Not sure about that @eaglespirit. It's been a while since I was at number one. ๐Ÿ˜

I'm more than happy if I end up in the top ten.

Hope you stay at the top too!

@gillianpearce at least you've been number 2 quite a bit hehe
i agree about being in the top 10. i'm with you sistah! :)
thank you for the well wishes, i know what i'm up against so yeahhhh

Yes I forgot to mention that - the closest ever finish between the top 2 I think!

Hurray for @dustsweeper and you powering those winnings up!

Yes indeed @abh12345. Hurray for @dustsweeper!

I may get muddled with what strategy I want to follow Asher but I have no interest at all in taking money out of the platform. It's the power I'm after. I love watching my SP go up. It's the best game in town. ๐Ÿ˜

Congratulations @gillianpearce!! Nice work as usual :)

I too am LOVING @dustsweeper!!!

Thanks @lynncoyle1.

Old @dustsweeper is getting to be a very popular man/woman/bot/God! ๐Ÿ˜‚ ๐Ÿ˜‚ ๐Ÿ˜‚

Congrats! You really are busy posting - 25 in a week. Good job!

I am loving dustsweeper as well. What a great initiative that is.

Thanks @leeart.

Maybe we should all start a dustsweeper appreciation society and set up a circle vote! ๐Ÿ˜‚

Congratulations to you, @gillianpearce. Even with the time you took off. Very nice. And yes, indeed, very close at the top.

Thank you @glenalbrethsen. I was very pleased with third place. ๐Ÿ˜Š

Holy Cow!! Im not sure what I did any different this past week. Never thougt Id be number 1 thats for sure and wasnt aiming for it as I mentioned last week. Thank you Asher for always helping us reach to new levels and no worries, your consistent queens willbe back to number 1 in no time! :)

Well you made it there and are the champ this week! ๐Ÿ˜

Lots of comments at lower levels of threads seemed to work for you, and I presume the prize is better than 100 selfies? ๐Ÿ˜

Well done!

im not sure what โ€œlower levels of threadsโ€ means and hopefully the contest will be over at 50 selfies. god help us ๐Ÿ˜†๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜† we are at 21 today!! as you prob know grand prize is over 90 sbd now ... eeekkkkk

I was also wondering what โ€œlower levels of threadsโ€ means @eaglespirit.

What's this selfie thing then? Sounds like a great prize whatever it is! ๐Ÿ˜‚

yeah must be an asher thing ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ
i thought comments were comments.
selfie contest is at freewritehouse 200 day contest. its closed for entrance but it will go on for at least 50 days, we are at day 21

Sounds pretty intense @eaglespirit. Is it a writing contest then?

a selfie that reflects the daily prompt and a freewrite combined in a post yo then be linked into two blogs comment sections every day.

Well done for getting to day 21 then @eaglespirit. That sound like a lot of work.

What happens if you miss a day? Does that put you out of the competition?

Congrats to you @eaglespirit... You have that honor of being the Queen! This is the best League on Steemit and I'm glad to see you make it all the way to the top! Awesome job :)

haha yayyyyy !! we all deserve our day and i thank you so much for the congrats. its a great league and i swear i never thought id make it up this high. but iโ€™ll accept it open arms. have a great week. ps dustsweeper is da bomb ๐Ÿ˜
still a shame we need it

@eaglespirit thanks for the shout out on @dustsweeper! And again, I bow to the Queen! ๐Ÿ™

@davemccoy hey no worries, you deserve it since this is a great initiative. no bowinnggg ... off with their heads!! oh did i say that?? heheeeee

@eaglespirit you did say that... hahaha.... I was wondering why there were so many people walking around headless this week ;)

thats every week, every day really buahahahaha
and they did it to themselves!! tell them to wake up DAve!!

@eaglespirit lol... shhhsss... no way, let them sleep... May Queen EagleSpirit rule forever! :)

Congratulations and huge beer cheers to you my friend! I remember not that long ago you saying something about never making it to #1 :)

woohoooooo big beer cheers and sorry for taking your spot, if only this once. totally unexpected and unplanned event. that was last week btw!! see what happen !! i think your boo boo Glen cursed me hehe
he said be careful what you say bc it could happen ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ

When you least expect it, expect it. :)

Congratulations for the No. 1 spot. How does it feel? :)

I wouldn't call it a curse. I'd call it putting in the work. Over 500 comments with a high number of replies. Besides, I'm not the cursing kind of guy. :)

@glenalbrethsen yayyyy and yes you were right!! it feels good if only for aweek!! hehe
thats joke and phrase "curse", but yes it could be seen as one since i didnt really "want" it, but yes making all those comments was putting in the work along with everything else.

If it hadn't been so close this last week, I would say don't be surprised if you're back there again this next week. However, as close as it was, everyone will need to step up there game. The problem is, when talking strictly the competition aspect of the leagues, you never know who that's going to be because someone always comes out of the blue. :)

That doesn't mean it can't be you again, though. It just means more work, most likely. :)

Good thing is, the leagues aren't all just about the competition. It's about each one of us, and how we're doing, and what we're doing. There are benefits to this way beyond the 5 Steem prize for being No. 1 that will resonate for you for a long time after. You may already be experiencing the difference in who sees your stuff and who finds it of value.

@glenalbrethsen oh oh here we go with the Glen predictions ... hehe god help us .... just kidding!!!!!
yeah i had no idea about out of the blue part, which is what you must have been trying to tell me before. :)
yeah asher was saying it was getting tougher just to be on the list at all, and then for the top 10 is like miraculous. hehe
yeah honestly i had NO idea the prize was 5 steem! no kidding, i have never been in it for the monies. it was the numbers and then after getting to know some of you i understood more completely. plus lynn and gill are in another group of mine. :)
and some of the others.
i have not seen much of others coming by, a couple who noticed the list, but not yet. nope. maybe in the future? hehe

In time. The more we get out there, the more people will be intrigued, and if the leagues can continue to attract the Curie level of folks, I think more and more people will get interested, especially if the incentives go up. Don't know if that will ever happen, but who knows?

There were quite a few people signing up the week before. Half a dozen or so. That's quite a bit in just one week. I think there may have been more this week, but I didn't pay as much attention to it this time. It's happening, though.

It is more amazing when unexpectedly you win :D Congrats! Great job on your efforts for making it to the top. Cheers!

youre right on about that and thank you very much for the congrats. this can get quite competitive so i do appreciate you commenting and support. :)

Wow, that was a close week. Normally it's close, but this was a race to the finish. Congratulations, @eaglespirit on capturing the top spot. That's a real accomplishment! @lynncoyle1 and @gillianpearce, congrats on keeping the #2 and #3 spots. You're nothing if not consistent. :)

@abh12345 thank you for the bonus for 0 self-votes! I'm going to power it up now.

@glenalbrethsen, I thought I was noticing fewer comments from you this week. Hopefully you've been enjoying time in the garden and hanging out with the family. You deserve a break! Hit me up tomorrow and we'll start an epic convo. Ha ha.

To all the rest of the winners, great job on helping make Steemit a great place to hang out and share ideas. :)

Thanks @themanwithnoname I seem to have settled into a bit of a rhythm now.

Congratulations on your bonus. It's always fun to power up isn't it? I'm loving that we're getting paid in Steem again. ๐Ÿ˜Š

Yeah, my rhythm is still off, but I still did fairly well. Any week I can get some type of prize is a good week. I power those up and keep on rolling. I'd rather not get paid in steem because of how the calculation is done, but there's nothing I can do about it, so I just take it and power it up.

Yep. Congratulations on your placement @themanwithnoname you're not far off the top ten and, as you say, any type of prize is a good prize.

What do you mean when you say "I'd rather not get paid in steem because of how the calculation is done? I thought getting paid in Steem was a good thing.

Are you saying that it's actually more valuable to be paid in SBD?

Since the prizes have been added for 0 self-votes, I got one of those. That's cool! It feels good to be recognized for not self-voting.

I say that because when we're paid SBD (in regular payouts) it's calculated assuming that SBD is at $1, so we get more than we should. When we also get paid in Steem, it converts some of that SBD payout to Steem, but it also does it assuming that SBD is at $1. Therefore, we lose a bit of the extra that we were getting. With the price of Steem higher than SBD, it's hard enough to "level up" so I appreciate any advantage. It's difficult to lose that little bit extra.

Also, Steemit hasn't done much in the way of transparency to disclose that it's happening. I believe they should change the post payout options (when you create your post) to reflect that it's not 50/50, but that it's 50/35/15 (SP, SBD, Steem). To do otherwise is misleading and dishonest (in my opinion).

I for one had no idea about this @themanwithnoname.

it's not 50/50, but that it's 50/35/15 (SP, SBD, Steem)

I'd just assumed it was good to be paid in Steem because the exchange rate between SBD and Steem is so poor at the moment.

it's calculated assuming that SBD is at $1, so we get more than we should.

Now I understand why many of the witnesses want to bring the price of SBD down. Or at least one of the reasons. ๐Ÿ˜Š

$10 for writing comments, easy money ๐Ÿ˜‹

You're often a bit cryptic for me @abh12345. What does "$10 for writing comments" refer to? ๐Ÿ˜Š

I think it means the steem he gave you is worth that @gillianpearce :)

Oh right. Duh! @lynnecoyle!

I'm not so interested in the US dollar value as I am in being able to power up. I'm waiting for SBD and Steem to go back to 1:1 but I fear I may be waiting forever! ๐Ÿ˜

I think he means the value of the Steem for winning. :)

Yep Thanks @themanwithnoname. As I said to @lyyncoyle1 . . . duh! ๐Ÿ˜

Whoops :D Yes those STEEM are worth about $10 at present, nice!

Very nice yes @abh12345 but it's the power I'm after. ๐Ÿ˜‚

If it's power you're after, I could contact Darth Sidious for you, aka Emperor Palpatine. ;)

Ha, ha, ha @themanwithnoname. No idea what you're talking about but I appreciate the thought! ๐Ÿ˜‚

Hey Blondie! yes this was a very exciting week for competition... And I was wondering the same thing about @glenalbrethsen ... I hope he is having a great time with family, he deserves to take a week or two off!

Good to see you climbing back up that list too... I got a scare a few weeks ago when I thought you might've been gone!

ps... liked your silver coin post, I have been meaning to get to it and tell you that you are on the right track for sure! I'm a huge fan at these prices and picked up some myself last night ;)

I was actually with family more this week with Memorial Day and my wife having the entire weekend off. Finally got to see Infinity War, so that's good. So, all the hours away this week didn't help the production numbers, and then when I was here, the drive to catch up or go the extra distance wasn't there. Plus, I just couldn't find stuff I liked all that much. Perfect storm. As it is, with all of that, still only 1,700 points from the top. I'm not sure I'm counting that as a good thing, though. :)

I'm glad to see you back... I always get nervous when someone goes silent... But in your case I didn't think you would just leave, so I wasn't too concerned!

I was surprised at the closeness and yes you were close... And I will just say that I agree that isn't necessarily a good thing!

Glad to have you back :)

Well, being back is relative, since I just didn't get that many comments up, but thank you for noticing. :) And now, I'd probably work up something to say before I actually did leave.

We'll see how things go this week. Things keep changing from one week to the next and it's hard to predict what's going to happen, even if I am trying to stay consistent.

lol.. don't spend a whole lot of time working on that speech... I hope you will be here with me for a long time if nothing more than to see how it turns out.

And yes I understand, I have been a bit quiet myself lately, but part of that is everyone seems to be slowing a bit (at least our connections).

Yeah, so what's up with that? I guess I must be one of the few who doesn't have much of a life, or want one, for that matter, which is why I'm here so much. :)

I was wondering about your quietness because it came after the luke stokes thing. Not sure what you've concluded from all of that. Maybe I missed a subsequent post or round of comments? The last thing I saw had to do with you thanking Luke Stokes for being honest. It was a long comment that appeared on your post and his reply post. Or something like that, since you were dueling posts instead of dueling comments.

@glenalbrethsen No you didn't miss anything. I am still mulling it through my head. Frankly, I am still cautious how it will all play out, but I also have developed a plan with SMTs that I think will kick ass. So I will just keep doing what I can until such time as they are listed, then I will see if my idea will get traction (along with the full impact of SMTs as people put them into use). From there we will see. ps...I do think the path they are on (without any change for the better is not a healthy path for anyone).

Happy to see you around again Glen!

It also appears that Glen declined reward, or that Asher made a new rule that you can only win 27 times in a row. Ha ha.

Yeah, I was on vacation that week and decided to be present on the vacation and do that well rather than trying to do two things poorly. I'm glad to be high enough that I could get a prize for 0 self-votes. Any time I can get a prize, I feel like I've done well that week. I like helping make Steemit a better place.

Glad to hear you liked the silver post. I'm going to be doing more of them. I want to get more involved with Steem Silver Gold and they really like posts on the shiny, so I need to do more of them. I just found a cool way of getting more low-cost silver and I'll be doing a post on that in the near future. Hopefully we can see a post on your newest acquisitions as well. :D If not, just send them to me on discord so that at least I can appreciate them.

Yeah, so last week I asked Asher if I could be taken off of the prize list. After five wins, which could have easily been seven, and all the time I've had to comment, etc., compared to the rest, I thought it would be better if I declined, at least for a while. If someone shows up with the numbers, it might be fun to jump back in again, but until that happens, I'd just as soon see the prize money spread around a little more.

That's very nice of you. You had quite the run going. I'm sure that it's appreciated by the recipients of your generosity. I'd like to see someone come in who could challenge you even more. Maybe @lynncoyle1 is going to go on a commenting spree and hit that 50k mark before you. I think that would be considered a qualifying event to bring you back into rewards. :)

I'd just as soon see the prize money spread around a little more.

That's very generous of you!

I told Asher that I reserved the right to come back into the prize money if there was someone who could legitimately get higher points, probably because they had the time to do it. That's probably not Lynn for the time being just because she's already got a lot going on. She gets unleashed, though, there's no telling what she'll do. :) I think she would rather not be unleashed given what it means, though.

Well, generosity is relative. Curie is generous. Asher is generous. Carlgnash and Paluag are generous. I'm just not taking something that wasn't mine in the first place with the hope that others will stay involved because there's not some guy spending 12 hours or so a day to earn it. :)

I'm glad you left yourself the option to get back into the money. It's very sporting of you to pass that on to other people. You don't have to pass it up, and since you're trying to earn money on here, I wouldn't blame you for receiving a reward that helps you accomplish that goal.

There are a lot of very generous people involved in this League, and I'm thankful for them. It's been an encouragement to me to get those boosts when I've placed high enough. It makes me want to do it again.

@themanwithnoname hahaha... yes, after 27 times you get handicapped.... like in golf... he is only allowed 5 hrs a week in which to compete to give us a chance. :P

I did like your post, I read it to feature it on Unleash Power... I have talked to a few of those guys @nofiat is a good guy you should get to know... And I will send you on discord on the shiny stuff... I just ordered some more generic rounds at spot... so I'm always happy with buying silver at spot!

I've heard that's the cutoff, 27. At least you're only handicapped like in golf and not kneecapped. That would be different! 0.0

I'm glad you liked the dimes. I just did another silver post that is a little different than any I've seen on Steem yet. Check it out if you have a chance. It seems you like deals from your comment, so you might like this idea.

@themanwithnoname yes I was thinking about that too... But since I already used that on you when you were the king, I didn't want to give everyone the impression that is my M.O. ;)

Yes loved your post, will be going out this weekend and seeing what I can find out there too (you gave me a great idea!)

You don't want to become predictable. That's how they get you.

I wish you great fortune on your quest. :)

@themanwithnoname lol... see you get it... of course, since we are related I guess we should think alike! And thank you, I will let you know if I strike any keepers!

Powered up is what I like to hear!

Yes a quiet week from glen with only 12000 characters ๐Ÿ˜‚

Have a good week!

It would be a really quiet if it were only three zeroes instead of four. :)

I'm still trying to find my niche, where I can just dive in and comment. The girls go places I'm not much use in. Lots of contests and other communities.

That would be a really slow week. That sounds more like some of my weeks recently. Although I didn't do too badly this last week.

You'll find your spot. With all the networking you do, I think you'll find something that lets you write for hours on end. :)

That, my friend, would be awesome. Just find that thick vein of comment silver/gold that goes on for miles and miles and miles. Oh, man, the work I could do there. But alas, I fear I might have to create that vein before I can mine it. I'm an odd duck, you see. I have a lot of interests, but they don't seem to line up with much of what's here yet. Where I comment is what I'm interested in. :)

I think the best place to start if you're into silver and gold would be https://steemit.com/created/steemsilvergold. You can find all the latest posts from the steemsilvergold tag and then comment on them. Sometimes people will start a conversation with you. You're right though, sometimes you have to start the process as people may just not know how rewarding a conversation can be. That's probably smart to only comment on what you're interested in. Otherwise, it could come across as spammy. And we don't want any spam. We want steak!

Was going for comment gold (or silver) in my last comment, not gold or silver comments. Was going for the gold/silver mine metaphor as it relates to commenting. Between you, buggedout and others, I've come to realize that there is a silver and gold community, which I think is great. I'm just not as well versed on it as I need to be and probably should take some time to hang out there, but I end up other places.

Yeah. I've not been accused of being spammy yet. I think I'll keep it that way. :)

It wouldn't make much sense to take winning from an engagement contest and cash them out. Ha ha. I want to keep growing anyways, so I just take it as a bonus on that journey.

You enjoy your week as well. Thanks for all you do to make Steemit a better place.

Thank you @themanwithnoname, and congratultions to you :)

I think one of these weeks I'm going to do nothing but comment and upvote. I'll get that 100,000 score that @glenalbrethsen has been thinking about in the back of his mind. Then I'll do nothing for the next week. :P It will be epic!

hahaha I can see you rubbing your hands together now ;)

That's it! :D

Uh, I wan't going for 100,000. It's 50,000. If you can get to 100,000, more power to ya!

Hey, I figure f we aim for 100,000, then if we fall short, we'll hit 70,000 or something. Either way, we'll be owning it!

Okay. I should have known you were looking out for me when you raised the bar way past what's possible. :)

I'm not even sure where the 50,000 point mark is, but it's somewhere above 250,000 CL and probably above 350 comments (maybe closer to 400), with upvotes over 500 and the spread over 125. That's my guess. So, double all that for a 100,000. I double dog dare anyone to do that. :)

Of course! I want to see you accomplish greatness on here (and in real life).

I would imagine that you're also going to need a bunch of votes and unique vote recipients to hit that mark. It seems the people who do well vote for a lot of different people. 500 votes might be ok, but I imagine that you're going to want to going to over 250 people. I don't think I have the energy to do that. I might be able to make the time, but I think I would get burned out quickly. Heh.

So, this was how I got to nearly 45,000 several weeks ago:

Screen Shot 2018-04-16 at 6.28.27 AM.png

Providing the formula hasn't changed (which only Asher knows if it has), the upvotes and spread didn't seem to be as big of a deal. There are no longer decimal points at the end of the point numbers, so I'm not sure if that's just a rounding up or represents a greater change, but anyway, that's what I have to go on.

Hey, @themanwithnoname. I'm afraid enjoying and garden don't necessarily go together when it comes to me. I was with family for a good part of it, which is great for that, not so great for commenting numbers. It didn't seem like there was very much going on here towards the end of the week and I just couldn't find the desire to push through it this time. Hope that's not the start of a trend. :)

I get what you mean. Sometimes I really enjoy gardening, and other times it seems like a chore. It's too bad that it's not like computer games where you could make the plants grow faster by clicking or something. ;)

At least you got to spend more time with your family. That's what this is really about, right?!

It didn't seem like there was very much going on here towards the end of the week and I just couldn't find the desire to push through it this time.

I understand that feeling. I wouldn't worry about it. It's ok to have your time here wax and wane. It's natural. I wouldn't worry about it becoming a trend unless you're not able to get back into it... in which case, you're probably due for a break and can use that time to recharge, then come back and be enthused about getting back at it!

It would be about family if I were doing things I wanted to do as opposed to things I don't. Like yard work. :) Or fixing things that shouldn't be broken in the first place that take me hours because I have to figure it out as I go.

The only thing I got to do with family this week that I wanted to do is watch Infinity War, and even that had a rocky start because my wife had her phone on and got a couple of text messages for the first five to ten minutes of the movie that she wouldn't let go (they were NOT emergent). In the grand scheme of things, not a big deal, but I'd been waiting five weeks to see the movie and then something impromptu steals her attention and thus mine. SIGH.

I had a hard time last week finding the reason to do extra. I don't feel like it was burn out. Things were fairly the same here, just that people always seem to disappear when I'm trying to engage with them. But my wife wants me to give up doing this all the time and find work that will bring money in immediately. You and I have talked about this before. So we're working at cross purposes right now and that got to me more than usual last week, too. As I said somewhere else, it was pretty much the perfect storm. :)

So apparently it wasn't about enjoying time with family. That's too bad. Yeah, that yard work can get you. And I understand your frustration with things being broken that shouldn't be broken. I've always been the kind of guy who figured things out as I went too. I sharpened the blade on my mom's lawnmower for her and she was shocked that I knew how to do it. I have been doing that for years. I just figured out how to take the blade off and then filed it. Not that hard, you just have to be willing to try.

I'm sorry the movie didn't go as smoothly as you had hoped. May I suggest that next time you take some rotting tomatoes and cabbages with you and subtly distribute them to the people around you so they can pelt her with the vegetables for being on her phone in the movie? :D Ha ha. Seriously though, that's frustrating. I hope it was a great experience after that!

One of the more difficult things about the platform is there really isn't a chat function. The site isn't conducive to carrying on a conversation well. It would be nice if they allowed you to carry on side conversations related to the prompts (posts). Then you could do it more in a chat format which would allow the conversation to go further.

My wife and I were talking about finances last night, so I'm with you there. It's tough when you're on different pages. I could see Steem going somewhere, but I also understand the need to have money coming in now. It's difficult to know which way is going to be best in the long-term (assuming that it's sustainable in the short-term as well).

I could go for mental pelting. Something I could laugh at in my mind and not have to suffer the consequences later. A scenario only in my head where she would actually learn from the experience and actually appreciate me for it, rather than storm out of the theater and make me go after her, thus missing the rest of the movie.

My week with family wasn't all bad. I just never know what I'm getting into, really, because my wife doesn't really know what she's going to do before she does it, and so I spend way too much time doing things that I'm not prepared to do.

She wanted me hauling dead flowers she cut to the debris bin, which was fine, but after some of that, I spent the rest of the time fixing a part of the fence that's going to be replaced anyway. One of the horizontal brace boards shrunk and slipped a bracket.

Fortunately, we had a replacement board, but it was too long and for some unknown reason, the saw used to cut the same kind of board was set at a higher level than would cut the board (and for the life of me, I couldn't get it adjusted), so I had to turn the board over and cut through it too, and because that missed by a quarter of an inch, I had to break it and then try to shave off the rest by hand.

Welcome to my world. :)

Of course mental. I wouldn't advocate for you actually having people assault your wife with rotting vegetables. What am I, a madman? No, really, am I a madman? Just kidding.

You wouldn't want to miss the rest of the movie, but if she's going to storm out and make you chase her, have her do it within the first 30 minutes so you can get your money back.

I know what you mean about not knowing what you're getting into. I offered to help my mother with a small project and it escalated into a bunch of things. It's the way it goes though and I'm glad I was able to help her.

That sounds really frustrating. There's not much you can do if it shrunk out of the bracket. At least you had the spare board, but when the saw won't cut, you're in for a long day... and a lot of muttering under your breath. I know that feeling. Ha ha!

I'm sorry it happened to you, but I'm glad to know I'm not the only one who has issues like that. Sometimes it seems like the dominoes just keep falling... and they're all bad. The good news is that eventually you run out of dominoes and you can get back to life. Or something like that.

It's the old misery loves company scenario I'm pretty sure. In my case, though, dominoes falling is a good thing. I can never get the first one pushed over because it's the largest and thus the hardest.

We've had a couple of the brace boards (whatever they're called) shrink on us. There was another section of fence that was fixed towards the beginning of the year that eventually needs to be replaced. So, anyway. I might get a new saw out of the deal if I can't figure out how to adjust the blade height.

Okay, so, we're all good. No madmen here on either end of this conversation. Just two souls trying to look out for one another however we can. :)

yay thank you TMWNN!! also the shout out in ssg that was very kind. they prob have no idea what these leagues are. it was never in my mind to make #1. iโ€™ll taje it if only once in my life ๐Ÿ˜›๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

I figured they might not know, but figured they might as well get in here and mix with the general population a bit. It's fun. Yeah, I won once. I'd be happy to win again, but I'm thrilled that I won even once. :)

i hear ya and i'm with you on that, once is fine enough for me. i am happy i figured out the formula that works for me and thats what mattered. i kept getting below the 12 for awhile and once not even on the list. thank you again and yes it would be good for them to get out and mingle some. LOL they all seem to just go towards the same folks. i am in over 10 groups and spread myself out. it works for me anyway, i'm not like #1 in the group but i've met so many people along the way that it is encouraging to me on the platform. :)

Well I'm glad to have met you and again, congratulations. Enjoy the crown for the week. :)

@themanwithnoname thanks so much and happy to have met you and seeing you again too. thanks again for the congrats and temp crown. hehe

You're welcome. And I didn't give you the crown, you got out there and earned it! :D

@themanwithnoname awww sweet man, tons of hugs to you. blessings, eagle

Although Iโ€™m not even making it into the top 60 anymore, this is still a post I am on the lookout for every week again.
Iโ€™ll never get tired of seeing all that motivation :0)

Thank you @simplymike for checking in and appreciating the Leagues - plenty of friends here to check up on no doubt :D

Indeed ;0)

that's just a matter of getting your hands on a keyboard... when that day comes, I say "watch out" ;)

Unfortunately a decent keyboard (with bigger keys than the ones on my phone) is just dream for now. Iโ€™m afrid it will take a couple more weeks :0(

@simplymike ohhh... that's ok... take your time and get ready... I know when you come back that @simplythebest (improved from @simplyamazing) will apply!

Itโ€™s fine :0)
It took me a while, but Iโ€™ve (finally) reached the point of not being frustrated anymore for not being in the top 10 or even top 20. Iโ€™m just happy to be able to be around every once in a while.

Another lesson learned. :0)

@simplymike yes, I completely understand that concept. The keep is to stay happy and keeping the expectations down is a start! ;)

It hasnโ€™t been an easy one, though. When it comes to competitions, I always lose myself and aim for the top spot, no matter what, lol.
I can remember acting like that even when I was just a toddler :0)

But with age comes wisdom, I assume (or maybe I should replace โ€˜ageโ€™ with โ€˜a bad backโ€™, lol)

@simplymike lol... yes its amazing how me being hobbled has limited my drive... It certainly has nothing to do with my age ;)

Your time will come again @simplymike, and I love that you are so selfless and still love to see the "motivation" here weekly :)

If I want to be a good cheerleader, I need to cheer for my team, right? ;0)

Exactly!!

Wow excited I moved up the list a notch! I better drink some coffee and start typing. Shoot for another notch next week.
Thanks so much for putting all the info out for us. Love seeing where I am at in relation to the big guys.

haha, to keep up with the top you'll need a pot or 2 :D

Thanks for taking part, cheers!

Just remember, if you take the role as spokeswoman for the flashing baby, your numbers could take you all the way to the top! :P

Yeah the top of every blacklist. There's not enough helium in the world to make that sound like a good idea.

@headchange lol.... you're funny ... has anyone ever told you that?

not today

you're funny! So now you can say yes ;)

Look who's talking. Inventor of the infamous psycho babe

lol... I guess that does taint my opinion a little :P

Congratulations @headchange! I love to see that you are shooting for another "notch up" this week :)

Thanks so much @lynncoyle1 I was actually pleasantly surprised this week. I first looked in my last week spot and not seeing myself thought I didn't make the list at all. I am still in awe of how you manage all those contest posts.

Yey! Go for it. I can send you more coffee it that is what it takes for you to move up lol!

You are always so helpful! It may take a few gallons to keep up with ole speedy fingers up there.

Haha! I agree. I thought I have done enough for this week's league, only to realize I didn't. I have to drink more coffee, too :D

I will try to pop in this week with a cup of jo and a motivation reminder.

Thank you @abh12345 and of course @curie for sponsoring such a motivational league!! I really need to lighten up on myself; once again I doubted that I'd be in the top 10! Why's Glen scratched out Ash? I'm obviously missing something :)

Ye of little faith :) Well done on another top 3 finish!

Glen asked to be removed from the prizes, giving others a go - very noble of him. He may be back though, so watch out all :D

haha thank you for that!

With regards to Glen, he's just giving the rest of us a false sense of security ;)

I think you might be right, but for now he's abstained from the rewards, very kind.

I wonder if $10/STEEM would tempt him back :D

It might. :) As it is, though, someone seems to be more interested in $10-plus SBD on Hitbtc, which I don't really get. I guess they can't just look at other exchanges and figure out that SBD isn't going for all that much? Funny thing is, STEEM is below the average on Hitbtc, so someone's intentionally trying to do something there. :)

Yes I agree that is fishy. The deposits are locked, and so it's only the SBD currently on the exchange that is being traded - for as high at 70/80$, crazy!

I'm watching with interest though, it's a funny old game :)

Any practical purpose for doing it? It doesn't seem to be affecting the Steemit's internal exchange any. And why would people go that high on one exchange if everywhere else it's so much lower? This must have been organized. It just doesn't make any sense from the perspective of a veteran crypto investor, does it? Unless you're leading it, I guess.

Better than having my head on a swivel every week. This way, all of you can look over your shoulders!

Nah. I guess you didn't see my acceptance speech on last week's results page, which pretty much means you were off doing more needful things, which is actually the point of it all.

I've had more time to spend on Steemit than most everyone else, and I felt like it was an unfair advantage. This week it doesn't look like it, but if I'd actually ended up being productive for a couple more hours this last week (the hours I was actually on) I'd have been at the top of the list again.

As it is, I fully intend to be at the top of list, leading out as much as I can. If someone has the time and wants to make a run for it, great, but otherwise, it just doesn't seem very sporting of me. :)

Well that's all very sporting of you then!

Really, that speaks volumes to your character Glen :)

Well, I don't think I would be the only one of the leaguers who would do it if they were in my shoes. I think there'd be others giving up the prize if they were spending two to three times as long as others were. It would only be fair. It just happens to be me this time, but at whatever point someone starts dominating because of the time they have, maybe they decide to step away, or the two of us have a go of it. :)

You may not be there at the top but I always believe you will because you always do.

Thanks for the vote of confidence @leeart!!

@abh12345. Thank you for all you do here and for helping take the daily stress from my love when you accepted her to Steemit. I am forever grateful. Thank you again from my heart

Hi Brian

It's a pleasure to be of any help I can, I'm just a small part of a very supportive community. We appreciate you both and what you have brought to the platform.

Thank you

Congratulations to @eaglespirit, @lynncoyle1, and @gillianpearce, Nice to see you ladies up there and doing great.

I hope the price of steem recovers soon, I need to get more votes out there, but had to up my percentages from 20-25% range to 25-30% range. I don't like not meeting the dust vote level, but will still try a little bit harder. I still can not believe that I am still making league one list, yeah , I'm down by the bottom, but man that @dustsweeper is a steemit god send, It is the only reason I make that list, that's why I keep trying to stay ahead of the steem price drop and vote level at the $0.020 level.

Congratulations to everybody that made it on the curation list, and the earnings list.

Thanks @bashadow. Good to see you in the winners too.

I found the same with the dust level cut off. At one point in the week I had to up my vote to more than 305 in order to get above the threshold. I suppose it's related to how much Voting Power we have left too.

Thank goodness for steemworld where I can easily check what my VP is. I'd be lost without it. And busy, org where I can see the exact value of my vote.

@dustsweeper is a steemit god send
I couldn't agree more. If only all the irritations of Steemit could be dealt with so well! ๐Ÿ˜Š

Have a great week!

You should also be able to see the exact value you of your vote by sliding the 100% button on Steemworld :)

Thank you so much @abh2345. This is priceless!!!

I didn't think of that. Now I won't have to keep switching to busy.org to work out my vote value.

That's going to save a load of time. Hoorah! ๐Ÿ‘ (emoji for fireworks goes here) ๐Ÿ˜‚

I absolutely LOVE steemworld @gillianpearce!!! And there continue to be awesome additions to it like "mentions", "upcoming author AND curation rewards". When you go to open it, you'll see a "newsletter" highlighted and that is @steemchiller, the "creator" of it updating us on all the latest awesomeness haha. Seriously, if you don't use it, you must check it out; it is one of the things I have open all of the time. It has a couple of places that utilize the slider so you can see the percentage you are voting with. @davemccoy says the slider in the "Tools" section is more accurate fyi. I could go on and on about it. Can you tell I enjoy it? :)

Yep. I agree @lynncoyle1. I always have it open on my desktop so I can keep an eye on my voting power levels. But I'd missed the fact that I could also check my current vote value there with the slider, until Asher pointed that out.

I was going into busy to do a check there which was a bit of a time waster.

I don't very often read the newsletter as I don't have enough time or, more accurately, it's not something I make a priority. ๐Ÿ˜

@gillianpearce the newsletter is great because it's where I find out the "new" things he's added. So helpful ;)

I'll try and make more effort to read it then @lynncoyle1. I should look at the functions the other tool I use has and she is steemworld has that too, if it does, I'd only need to have one tool open.

However, I find learning this stuff takes time and it's often easier just to do what you've always done. ๐Ÿ˜Š

heh, no problem! ๐ŸŽ† ๐ŸŽ† ๐ŸŽ†

(a bit over-rated this firework emoji!)

Yes thank you!! I spend a lot of time there and never noticed that would slide. Silly me just kept watching to hit 100% Best tip I have got all week. TY

Yep it is, I try to keep an eye on it in steemworld and try not to drop too much into the 80% Vote power range, because then it starts to really affect the vote value for me. Having the tools really help, I love both steemworld and dustsweeper, it is why I profiled them for all my IFC friends in the last round.

IFC stands for Information Finding Championship. @IFC was a game concept that @apolymask came up with late last year, and implemented toward the end of January. It has been a long running contest, with a very varied set of rounds. We had 40 rounds, and are now getting ready for the Final 16 rounds. The various contest pretty much ran a wide gambit of topics, and the players were all free to chose how best to meet the topic., anything from meme's to music, to shilling for steem, and lots of fun in between ones.

If you like grateful dead music, one of the rounds, Round 22, was music, I did some lyrics and a little jingle for the bonus. Well I think I won that round, but more important I am now a steemit lyricist, I asked @edprivat in one of his contest post, if he could make my lyrics into a song for us. The IFC Song, he did, and it came out fantastic. So the IFC is basically a group of steemians having a lot of fun. You should stop by and look at a few of the post when you get time. The memes and the word games were a lot of fun.

One last plug for my IFC Song.

I think I remember seeing that in the early days @bashadow.

It sounds like you're all having a lot of fun. How many people how you had enter?

About 30 players, and almost 150 discord room members, fans and marketplace users.

Sounds like quite an undertaking @bashadow. Hope it continues to go well! ๐Ÿ˜

And congratulations on getting into League 1 by the way. I'm totally clueless on that one! ๐Ÿ˜

The bottom of the top of a very long list sounds good to me! :D

Dusty is doing a great job for sure. Well done on your continued high placing!

It certainly is, I don't time votes or anything like that and most of my votes do really go on smaller and newer accounts, so it is nice to see and show people that yes voting on smaller accounts can make the curation rewards add up. That you do not need to just keep chasing the whale and orca post to earn some rewards for curation.

This is a mistake many people make. Minnows will get the best curation from minnow posts, whales, from whale posts, etc. In my opinion of course :)

hey BS! thanks for the congrats and i can say honestly thats why my upvotes went down too, considering the .01 vs the .03 mandatory to make it not turn to dust. my c and uv used to match. how do you get on curation list 1? you seem to be doing great there!

Thank you @bashadow, and congratulations to you too! I absolutely love @dustsweeper!!

Good morning/good afternoon @abh12345.

Thank You

Thank you, Asher, as always, for the leagues. I believe they are an inspiration to everyone in them, and increasingly more so to those who we all reach out to week to week.

Thank you, @curie, for the next two months of sponsoring. Thank you for seeing what Ash and the rest of us our doing and for wanting to be a part of it.

Thank you, @carlgnash and @paulag for stepping up when few did. Enjoy the reprieve (for however long it may last :).

Congratulations

No. 1โ€”@eaglespirit! Woohoo! Never say never! By 15 points, though. :) Photo finish!

No. 2โ€”@lynncolye1, No. 3โ€”@gillianpearceโ€”always placing somewhere near the top, if not at the top. Whatever magic formula the two of you have tapped into, keeping doing it. Even if it's not even a formula and not very magical at that. It's working. Don't change it. :)

No. 4 to 10โ€”@mad-runner, @bashadow, @davemccoy, @wolfhart, @maverickinvictus, @leeart and @funbobby51. Way to be in the Top 10 this week, y'all. Some old, some new. Any borrowed or blue? Guess I shouldn't make a wedding out of it, right? :) Well done.

So, my question is, who's going to be at the top next week? Any takers? :)

Cheers Glen

A true photo finish this week, I don't think we've had a closer run affair?

I have a feeling Carl was instrumental in the Curie sponsorship, and also that he may step back in when required - which is great!

A good mix of seasoned and new names in the top 20, which i do like to see. Did you enjoy your name in white this week - maybe we should have a different colour again?

Have a good day :)

Actually white works just fine. It's the placement part I'll need to change this week. I should probably specify that I mean a change up not down.

Seems like the new folks are bringing some fire every week. Just need to sustain it from week to week. It takes some doing, and burn out is easy if work isn't balanced and even. Lots of other factors, too, but the only ones we can control involve us, so no need to get into what we can't really do much about.

That's the closest I've ever seen one and two for sure. It would be nice to see things in the 30,000s, though. Well, whatever. It is what it is. :)

Sounds like a warning signal for other contenders :)

Yes the worst thing that I don't want to happen is burnout. Taking a few weeks off, or just cooling down on the comments is perfectly fine.

That's the closest I've ever seen one and two for sure. It would be nice to see things in the 30,000s

The formula can be tweaked to make this happen if you wish :D

I would rather see people (me included) earn their way into the 30,000-plus rather than tweak them into it. It's also easier to compare what I've done and what I can do better from week to week if the formula doesn't get tweaked. So, no need to tweak anything on my account. If anything, we all need to produce a little bit more.

Congratulations to you Glen! This league is always at the back of my mind, and by Saturday night, it's at the front of it haha, and by then I always second guess myself as to whether or not I've "done enough". Apparently I always do, but those few weeks where I've purposefully taken it easy have been a nice reprieve for sure.

When I see the amount of posts from you and gillian and now eaglespirit I think I should probably up mine, but there really is only so many hours in a day ;)

There truly are so many hours in the day and when they're made the more precious given Brian's condition, there's really no other choice where to spend them. No one seems to question anyone's time commitment here, yours least of all. Especially since you're involved in a lot of other things. So, 'doing enough' is relative. Leagues aren't going to be first priority. And that's a good thing.

Thank you for that @glenalbrethsen! I sometimes put way too much pressure on myself that I know makes absolutely no sense whatsoever.

Thanks @glenalbrethsen. Yep. I'm keeping on keeping on, as time permits.

I'm up too late again and haven't gotten around to reading/commenting on all the posts I wanted to but I really must go to bed.

I'm off now. ๐Ÿ’ค ๐Ÿ’ค ๐Ÿ’ค
